San Antonio Spurs History
The story of the San Antonio Spurs began in the summer of 1973, when a group of local investors leased the Dallas Chaparrals and brought professional basketball to San Antonio. Midway through that first season, the group purchased the team outright, planting the roots of what would become one of the NBA’s most respected franchises.
The Spurs spent their first three seasons in the ABA before joining the NBA in 1976, alongside the Nets, Nuggets, and Pacers. Since entering the league, San Antonio has become a model of sustained success, boasting the second-highest winning percentage (.595) among all NBA teams. Over the decades, the Spurs have captured five NBA championships and 22 division titles.
The team has honored its legends by retiring 10 jersey numbers, including Hall of Famers George "Iceman" Gervin, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker—all of whom helped define generations of Spurs basketball.
The 2025–26 season marks a significant moment in Spurs history. After 29 seasons as head coach, Hall of Famer Gregg Popovich has transitioned into the role of President of Basketball Operations. Stepping into the head coaching role is Mitch Johnson, officially named the 19th head coach in franchise history after serving as acting head coach for the majority of last season.
On the court the Silver and Black are led by NBA All-Stars Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox. They are joined by Spurs veterans Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan while Stephon Castle, the NBA’s 2025 Rookie of the Year, returns for his second season. This summer the Spurs added veteran leadership with the additions of Luke Kornet and Kelly Olynyk. The 2025 NBA Draft brought more young talent to San Antonio, including No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper and No. 14 pick Carter Bryant.

Great seats. I’ll probably buy cheaper tickets next time and sit at the bar.
It is always an awesome experience to go to a Spurs game. We sat in the balcony section, but the view was great and could see all of the court. Will do it as often as possible.
This game was another great for the spurs. They were awesome, especially in the 1st half. Got a little worried during the 3rd qtr but in the end, the 'Spurs came through as usual. I believe the Spurs are on the road for another championship.
The game was the hype of the year and did not disappoint.
WONDERFUL GAME, LIVED UP TO THE HYPE. MY ONLY WISH IS THAT THE ATT CENTER WOULD OPEN EARLIER THAN 1 HOUR BEFORE GAME TIME. THAT LEAVES VERY LITTLE TIME TO VISIT SHOPS OR GRAB A BITE. YOU ONLY HAVE TIME TO DO ONE OR THE OTHER.
The Spurs remained undefeated at home and did not disappoint. The AT&T rocked! Go Spurs Go!!!
Game and fans were great food vendors a Lil unsanitary
Both teams played hard and it made for a great game!
Never worried when close game or a bit behind .,,,Strong Team play
Great teams, great seat, great game.. I try to see at least one game a year, and this was the right one to pick. Get well TD and Manu.
Seats were amazing and game was great! Tickets were well worth the cost.
AT&T Center opened the doors for entry very late. This was unacceptable as long lines formed.
This was one of the better Spurs games I've attended this year. Not only was it a good game to the finish, but the non-game activities were very well produced by Spurs staff. The tribute to Kobe Bryant was very well thought out and professionally orchestrated. Well done Spurs management.
It is a very nice venue for basketball. Unlike some arenas, there is restraint in the playing of music while the game is on which is definitely a plus.
Came to town to visit my daughter and was able to see this wonderful center (AT&T) and watch a great game live
Great experience, loved every moment. Go Spurs Go.
Had a great time. Was my first game. Love the fan interaction.
I wouldn't pay that much money for these seat tickets again.
Could not have asked for a better game or tickets. Ticketmaster always coming in the clutch with the great prices.
Well, being a mavs fan, the game did not have a favorable outcome. I did however have a great time with the woman I will marry. She is a spurs fan. A friend of mine said it best "the one I get to stare at has a smile on her face". The upgrades to the AT&T center are great, cant wait for rodeo season.
