San Antonio Spurs History
The story of the San Antonio Spurs began in the summer of 1973, when a group of local investors leased the Dallas Chaparrals and brought professional basketball to San Antonio. Midway through that first season, the group purchased the team outright, planting the roots of what would become one of the NBA’s most respected franchises.
The Spurs spent their first three seasons in the ABA before joining the NBA in 1976, alongside the Nets, Nuggets, and Pacers. Since entering the league, San Antonio has become a model of sustained success, boasting the second-highest winning percentage (.595) among all NBA teams. Over the decades, the Spurs have captured five NBA championships and 22 division titles.
The team has honored its legends by retiring 10 jersey numbers, including Hall of Famers George "Iceman" Gervin, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker—all of whom helped define generations of Spurs basketball.
The 2025–26 season marks a significant moment in Spurs history. After 29 seasons as head coach, Hall of Famer Gregg Popovich has transitioned into the role of President of Basketball Operations. Stepping into the head coaching role is Mitch Johnson, officially named the 19th head coach in franchise history after serving as acting head coach for the majority of last season.
On the court the Silver and Black are led by NBA All-Stars Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox. They are joined by Spurs veterans Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan while Stephon Castle, the NBA’s 2025 Rookie of the Year, returns for his second season. This summer the Spurs added veteran leadership with the additions of Luke Kornet and Kelly Olynyk. The 2025 NBA Draft brought more young talent to San Antonio, including No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper and No. 14 pick Carter Bryant.

Great experience...the view was perfect...i really enjoyed the game ...can't wait to see another one soon
The game experience was great for the family. The kids want to go back for more.
Had one glitch that a girl on your staff gave me a rude response to me asking her for a t shirt. It was so odd. It was in section 205. Other than that it was a really fun night.
Besides enjoying a Spurs game in person, the action and entertainment during timeouts and at the half made the night truely enjoyable. The dancers and those leading the cheers and handing out t-shirts had enthusiasm all over them. Thanks for a great night :)
Doors opened at 6pm. Stood in line outside about 30 minutes but that was expected. Went through security and then scanned the ticket. Then it was a mess…there was a table set up where Coyote posters were being given and then some random staff member standing handing out the bobble head vouchers in between the crowded table and a mass of people who just got their tickets scanned. Very disorganized. This was at the Bud Light court entrance. Then we finally walk into the building only to find one small section open and either side was blocked off so you couldn’t go further into the building. So another 30 minutes of standing in this crowd and waiting to actually get to our seats and find some food. Once they let us in the building then they should let us in all the way. We already waited outside to get in and weren’t expecting to lose 30 minutes inside the building.
Always great going to watch a Spurs Game. There are so many fun games, entertainment, and excitement from being in the arena. The closer you are to the action the more you are pulled in.
I was able to enjoy the game and the dining experience.
I wanted to surprise my husband with tickets, because he is a huge fan of LeBron James. He didn’t play at all, and on the Lakers Instagram page, it said that he would be there. We were really disappointed, as that was the main reason why we wanted to go.
It was an awesome game hope I could afford seats closer
First time seeing an NBA game ever and it was more than what I expected, seeing some my favorite players growing up play in person was just amazing I really enjoyed my experience I already bought another ticket for another game next week!
nice show from the begining to the end, excellent game
The enviormnent in the game was crazy ………………………..
Good experience, good view. Food would be better if it wasn’t such “fine” dining food for a fame. Believe sports food would have been better for such event.
It was over all great, smooth process going in, line and checking in. The no-contact process is all wonderful! Thanks for a great experience.
Was an amazing game, fun and exciting. Food options were so good, entertainment on point 👍🏻
I was at the Spurs game a few days so against the Golden Warriors and the music sucked! Outdated, old, and almost put me to sleep. This time (against Miami Heat), I must say the music was much better and upbeat. People, including me, were engaged, dancing, and happy. Now, if we can get thing young Spur team to win more games…!
Better traffic control is needed to get to the parking. The prices are ridiculously high for the quality of the product and the promotion (bobble heads) ran out. This was a totally disappointing experience.
Seats were good for price and we had a good time. Game was Demars first time back in San Antonio since leaving.
Everything is great except the parking and logistics on getting to stadium is horrible
The staff are so friendly. Every time I attend an event, Courtney (the usher), the audio technician and Sean Elliot greet me warmly. They remember me and genuinely are happy to see me. Never expected that at a basketball game. I will keep coming back.
