About

SALT-N-PEPA IN CONCERT:

As one of the first female rap crews in history, Salt-n-Pepa became virtually synonymous with the brand of bump n' grind hip hop that dominated airwaves in the late '80s/early '90s. With their stylish image and candid, cheeky lyrics, Salt, Pepa, and DJ Spinderella struck a major chord with audiences that continues to reverberate today at their electrifying live shows. Whether fans are out to hear "Push It," "Shoop," or "Whatta Man," Salt-n-Pepa will deliver all the hits and more on their 2014 tour dates with fellow legends New Edition.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Representing Brooklyn and Queens, Salt-n-Pepa formed in 1985, blazing a trail for women in hip hop with their platinum-selling 1986 debut LP Hot, Cool & Vicious. The albums biggest hit "Push It" topped charts around the world, launching them to international superstardom and sparking extensive global touring. After several more successful albums, the trio scored another worldwide hit with 1991's "Let's Talk About Sex," a frank discussion of safe sex that was later reworked as political jam "Let's Talk About AIDS." The height of their fame, however, came in 1993 with Very Necessary, their top-selling album to date and the vessel for smash hits "Shoop" and "Whatta Man." Reuniting in 2007 after a five-year hiatus, Salt-n-Pepa proved they could still pump up the jams, giving fans plenty to be excited about as they hit the road for another electrifying tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Salt n Pepa brought the house down! Music was pumping, DJ's were bumping, the dancers were vibing and Salt n Pepa brought it! The crowd was so charged thanks to the energy of the dynamic duo and their team."

"Salt-n-Pepa can still bring it. The entire theater was up on their feet singing, dancing, and cheering."

"Amazing show. They performed all the classics and even did a great tip of the hat to other R&B / hip hop acts that came before and after them."

    SALT and PEPA Concert

by Anonymous on 11/8/10Reliant Arena - Houston

The concert began with Curtis Blow, who was actually quite entertaining. It was followed by Kid N Play, Slick Rick, and Naughty By Nature who were all on stage by themselves (no props or background dancers). Everyone's wardrobe was drab and especially simple (nothing like what they used to wear). I did not appreciate the frequent breaks in the show where broadcast radio hosts made attempts to make jokes and entertain the crowd with a wide array of old and new school music. Nothing appeared to have been rehearsed or have gone through an official sound check, and the fact that Doug E. Fresh was unable to perform due to illness, was a bad mix! In all the best part was Salt N Pepa's trip down memory lane, however, even between them their endless feud between their lifestyles was evident and cohesiveness was lacking. Their background dancers were annoying and difficult to watch (it seemed as though they couldn't appreciate the idea of being in the BACK)!

    Fresh Fest was awesome!!!

by Anonymous on 11/8/10Reliant Arena - Houston

Overall, the show was great...it was truly a great experience of real entertainment. The old school music brought back so many memories and they know how to entertain the crowd. They still got it and they all look very good...we missed Dougie Fresh since he was out ill but other than that, the show was great!

    Great Show

by MrsMomo on 11/8/10Reliant Arena - Houston

I loved this show and how loving and laid back it was. All the oldskool beats and songs to sway too. "Oldskool Hip Hop is about the love and God's grace" ~ Kurtis Blow. I truly loved how most of all the artists witnessed and praised GOD. That was such a nice surprise AND that Salt "DARED" us to seek JC. Oh and the chance to give a shout out to our church :) Good Times!

    disapointed

    by LadyA2 on 11/8/10Reliant Arena - Houston

I was disapointed when Doug E Fresh was a no show. I heard he performed in Tennesse the night before and was perfectly well. Does he not like Houston or what? Everyone else did a fantastic job,It brought back alot of memories and when Salt N Pepa came out and Salt said it has been 25 years i was amazed how long we all grew up together and still looking good. Thank you Salt for the praise we had at the end I was going to go out and party but instead I went home to get ready for the next day to hear my pastor speak the word.

    One of My Dream Concerts!!

    by Jwdalton77 on 10/27/10RBC Center - Raleigh

The show was absolutely amazing. I would like to give it 4.5 stars because I wanted to see more of Salt 'N Pepa, but overall I had a ball! Everyone put on a helluva show. Even the acts that I was a little hesitant about did a phenomenal job. I thought that I would never ever see Salt N' Pepa and Kid N' Play in concert. When they announced this on the radio, they had me at hello!! If they are coming to your town, do yourself a favor and get your tickets!
