    Sound therapy

by OnlybciloveRuthie on 11/4/14Attucks Theatre - Norfolk

Ruthie Foster is pure sound healing. She sings with a smile and with all of herself and most of me! Joy. She is a joy making human. The Attucks is a perfect listening room and she can fill every inch with her voice. You will not be disappointed. And she is all that on her guitar. And Samantha (her aunt?) was born to the drums. This is the best night every time!

I wasn't familiar with Ruthie Foster prior to this event. However, I thoroughly enjoyed my evening with her. Foster was an absolute delight to listen to and has such a beautiful personality and spirit that came through. She is was engaging and perfect in this very intimate venue. Highly recommend the artist and the venue.

What a terrific duo, Paul Thorn opening for the fabulous Ruthie Foster. We saw Paul at the Blues Festival a few years ago and he was engaging then, even with the very large venue of Waterfront Park. At the Aladdin he is really in the perfect size venue, large enough for the crowd to really respond and small enough for the intimacy of a really talented artist. Ruthie Foster has a voice big enough for Carnegie Hall and at the same time is personable enough to play here. Her covers of Ring of Fire and If I had a Hammer are worth the price of admission.

    Ruthie has soul....

by hawngirl on 2/4/12Aladdin Theater - Portland

The most amazing concert in a year... The last time I enjoyed music like this was last year at the New Orleans Jazz Fest where I first heard Ruthie play. She is a masterful blues/gospel/jazz singer. We have turned alot of friends on to her music . Plan to see her around the country as we snowbird... Definitely.. go see her.. You wont' be disappointed... Every song she does, old and new moves your soul...

    Soul Salvation was awesome!!!

by shaynes on 2/4/12Aladdin Theater - Portland

I purchased tickets for this show back in October as a birthday gift for my husband. The show fell on Feb 2nd, his birthday. He said it was his "best birthday ever"! " Best concert ever"! Paul Thorn was funny, entertaining and nice to listen to. Ruthie Foster is a new favorite of ours! The girl can SING!! We would have purchased a CD but didn't see them available for sale. Her combination of gospel and soul, mixed in with a little R&B and folk was soul touching and body rocking! The band was good, but the keyboard player was exceptional! That man could bring the dead to life with his incredible old time gospel jamming. We would highly recommend this concert. Next time she is in town we won't miss her.

    The Drop "out"!

by Anonymous on 2/3/12The GRAMMY Museum - Los Angeles

Ruthie Foster is amazing to watch! I love her music! This concert was not a concert... I have never been to a concert that performs only 4 songs... what is that? Oh it's an hour long of an interview (which was aweful) and 20 minutes of a "concert" It should have been 20 minute interview with an hour of a concert ...

Fabulous event in wonderful small venue. And the Grammy Museum is a gem that concert goers should not overlook. Plan a couple of hours to see and hear the many terrific permanent and visiting exhibits.

    Ruthie Foster at the Attucks

    by pcr757 on 1/16/12Attucks Theatre - Norfolk

Wow, what a night. What a voice. She sounded even better than when I saw her 2 years ago. She now has a drummer and bass player with her and the improvement is great. She was fresh off vacation and seemed like she didn't want the night to end. Loved it!

Ruthie rocked us to heaven and back !

by Artographybysylvia on 1/16/12Attucks Theatre - Norfolk

Everyone should treat themselves to a night of Ruthie Foster!!! Her smile radiates and warms the room before she ever sings that first note. She sings with heart and gratitude, and we knew she was into her singing, not there for a paycheck. Her drummer and bass guitarist/violinist were also great. They Rocked it!

    Ruthie took me to church!

by ZArtLady on 1/16/12Attucks Theatre - Norfolk

With a multi-faceted repertoire, she covers bases from blues to gospel, and country to reggae with the fluid ease. Her soulful voice is throaty and rich...her playing is spirited and uplifting! I wasn't expecting such a well-rounded performance, and was suprised and delighted to hear her and her talented band mates render one of the greatest performances I've seen in years! Don't miss her if you get the chance to hear her live!

    Foster & Bibb Great Combo

by rikat30 on 1/26/11The Ark - Ann Arbor

Ruthie and her Family Band were such a joy to watch and listen to. I don't believe I've seen a group of artists having so much fun together. Ruthie was so relaxed and beaming through-out the night. She'll be someone leading the Angel Choir someday. When Eric and Ruthie sang together, it was a match made in heaven. I've seen Eric alone before and have really enjoyed him. Ruthie really brought the soul out of the man. The harmonica player with Eric was a nice addition to his music.

    Ruthie and Eric

by RonaldWilliams61 on 1/26/11The Ark - Ann Arbor

My first time at the Ark after a recommendation from my son. I have heard Eric Bibb's work on WEMU, the best public radio station in the area, and decided to throw caution to the wind and go. Took my daughter and we both enjoyed the music immensely. Ruthie Foster has a "great set of pipes" according to Rebecca(my daughter) and Eric Bibb and his "band" have a great sound. The Ark is an outstanding venue and I will return. Regards, RWMS

    Great Show

by RubyT on 1/19/11Mayo Civic Center Presentation Hall - Rochester

Show was awesome!! I went specifically to see Scottie Miller playing with Ruthie. Was not disappointed - those women have it all together - Ruthie has this intimate style that just brings you into her and her music. Scottie's keyboards are terrific as always and what a surprise - he plays mandolin too!! Eric Bibb was good - his harmonica player was incredible - the licks those 2 traded were superb!! Thanks to all for a wonderful evening!! Please come back - this time I'd love to see everyone together for more than one song!!

    Phenomenal Woman/Phenomenal Show

by Anonymous on 1/17/11Mayo Civic Center Presentation Hall - Rochester

Ruthie Foster is an amazing talent. Her shows are high energy and moving. Although she is accompanied by a gifted group of musicians, I would prefer more songs that feature Ruthie's voice without overpowering instrumentals. Her voice is rich and powerful, filling the auditorium with music and the audience with awe. THANKS FOR THE JOY, RUTHIE!

    Ruthie Foster is simply Amazing!!

by CBSELL on 1/17/11Mayo Civic Center Presentation Hall - Rochester

This was my second Ruthie Foster concert in 6 months. I can't wait until I seed her again. She great energy and a voice that is unmatched anywhere. She closed with Travelin Shoes and the crowd went crazy. As good as she is on CD's she is simply amazing live. Truly one of the best I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of shows. The Mayo Civic center is very nice too! Ruthie is Highly recomended for anyone who loves music and even those that do not. I drove 3.5 hours to this show and would drive even further to see Ruthie.
