About

RUSH took rock music into uncharted territory and to unmatched heights fueled by the once-in-a-lifetime interplay of Geddy Lee (bass, keys, vocals), Alex Lifeson (guitar, vocals), and the late Neil Peart (drums, lyrics). Selling over 45 million albums worldwide, garnering seven Grammy Award nominations, tallying billions of streams, and earning induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, the pioneering trio’s incalculable influence has spanned generations, attracting one of the most ardent audiences in history. These musicians effectively reimagined and redefined rock without boundaries, striking a balance between elite instrumentation, anthemic vocals, provocative lyricism, and timeless storytelling both sonically and thematically. RUSH notably achieved “the third most consecutive gold/platinum studio albums by a rock band behind only the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.” Furthermore, their accolades have included becoming Officers of the Order of Canada in 1996, achieving the Canadian Governor General’s Performing Arts Award in 2012, and receiving recognition with both a star on the Canada Walk of Fame and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The world tragically said goodbye to Peart on January 7, 2020 following his battle with brain cancer. Honoring Peart and the legacy the band had forged together, Lee and Lifeson celebrate RUSH on tour in 2026. It’s a moment for new listeners to finally experience this music live in all of its glory and another chance for the group’s faithful fanbase to rally again.

  • Rush

by Thefoolthatiwas on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 2 out of 5

If you don't know the lyrics verbatim don't bother singing along. It will be noticed and the guitar player will mock you for it. If you only know 95% of the lyrics or get out of sync in a live setting, or simply forget the lyrics, that won't be tolerated. If you smile too much the drummer will notice and he too will mock you for being "so happy". All smiles (of joy) and singing along stopped as soon as a roaming photographer stopped roaming the space between the stage and first row. He stood directly in front of me for about the last 20 minutes or so before the encore. He did move occasionally but would come right back to obscure my big stupid smile from the of the drummer, I guess. Yes, I cheered and pumped my fist in the air, but overall it was a miserable and humiliating experience.

  • The three best in the world!

by gT40 on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 4 out of 5

The absolute best song selections from the old days! Great energy from the 3 gods!, it was nice to see Neil Smiling and having fun! More than anything it is rush!!! The only concert I will pay real money to see! Unfortunately the salt lake show was the worst sounding concert I have been to. I have seen a lot of rush shows over the years and never been disappointed with the sound until this show. I love to see rush and they can not really do anything wrong in my eyes but this show sounded terrible and I will leave it at that

  • Rockin' the 70's!

by R4673 on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 5 out of 5

Rush was my favorite band when I was 14 years old and I have seen them in concert a few times. I am thrilled they made a stop in Salt Lake City this time around, as this is their final tour.....sadly! Rock On!

  • Rush R40 was AMAZING!

by CGSLC on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 5 out of 5

I have wanted to see Rush live for a long time, and I am so glad I got tix to see them when they came through SLC. Alex shredded on guitar, Neil did 2 killer drum solos, Geddy Lee was killing it on the bass, and they played nothing but great songs. Once I heard Subdivisions, everything else was gravy. Even their more recent songs which I am less familiar with were great. What an incredible group they are, all 3 of them are some of the best musicians individually, and put them together - just out of this world! And their use of video and lasers was so cool. Loved it!

  • Rush deserved a much better venue than this

by MediumFan on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 1 out of 5

I'll start by saying that I love many Rush songs but not all. If you won't care for the opinion of a non-True-Believer, you are excused from reading the rest of this review. The biggest issue was that the sound quality was horrible. Excess volume can't compensate for horrific acoustics. The Maverik Center might be a wonderful place to host a hockey game but it's not good for music. Ear plugs were mandatory but even though they eased the pain, it's yet another thing in the way of the music. The next problem was that for some reason everybody felt a need to stand up and remain standing. They weren't dancing in their places, they weren't even swaying, they just stood still like statues. We had to stand too if we wanted to see anything, and there were good visuals, but the experience would have been so much better for everyone if we just sat. Dumb fans. Now about the music. All but the last 2 songs of the first set just didn't really go anywhere musically. The strong impression is that there is a paint by numbers situation here. It needs more than Geddy's vocal gymnastics and Alex's guitar gymnastics to make memorable music. Neil on the other hand is a solid backbone to the group, but the overall musical content was not far above mediocre. There, I said it. The last problem is a combination of the venue and their hosting. Please do not stagger the vendors in the corridor! You can't move to get to the food, the beverages, and the restrooms. It was total gridlock. Sorry Rush, we had hoped for more, but we left at the intermission. Maybe you were awesome in the 2nd set but we'll never know.

  • I hope you were there.

by Todd62 on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 5 out of 5

What a great show. I have seen Rush 4 times and this was the best of the bunch. The music and the stage show were top notch. I might have to drive to Vegas to see it again. If you get a chance to see them go do it. You will be thrilled.. Todd

  • Great Show!

by BJNman on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 5 out of 5

The R40 tour was great! The stage setup was awesome and the associated lights and videos made it awesome. The band didn't play a whole lot from their 80s albums they played newer stuff and dabbled a bit in the 80s and finished with a lot of 70s stuff. I really enjoyed it because I'd never seen some of the songs they played in concert. If you were going to your first Rush show it probably isn't the best lineup for you although still good but for a seasoned Rush concert goer it was awesome! They really highlighted Alex and he had some great solos on a lot of songs. Neil's drum sound was awesome.... It sounded really good and Geddy hit some high cords that he's struggled with at past shows I've seen. I thought the guys worked hard and the show was a success.

  • As Good As It Gets

by DoctorRock on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 5 out of 5

This was my fourth time seeing Rush in concert. This was the largest venue I've ever seen them in. The place was sold out--I'd estimate over 15,000 rabid fans. Many of the songs Rush played were deep tracks which was a nice change. They really jammed out on those songs-- which I loved. Rush was truly amazing, this was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. The sound quality was excellent for such a large venue and the lasers and video's really added nicely to the show. As a hardcore Rush fan, I can tell you that it doesn't get much better than this.

  • Rush is amazing!

by 59Patty on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 5 out of 5

Rush is an amazing 3 man band! Their music and light show was absolutely fantastic. The only issue I experienced is the acoustics at the Maverik Center are not great. The sound was kind of distorted and muddled. Most of the time I could not understand the lyrics because it was so muddled. Overall, it was a great experience because Rush rocks!

  • RUSH

by Choeyyy on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 5 out of 5

This has to be the best rock act currently playing in the world. The ability to play at such a high level at their ages is astonishing. The Setlist couldn't have been better. Although I am partial to their older material, their newer stuff at the early part of the show was really fantastic. I always feel that this drummer steals the show, but the lead guitar work of rock's most underrated guitarist of all time was mind blowing. Geddy Lee still has it going with his vocals even though I could tell his chords were getting a little tired towards the end of the show. He's 61 years old for crying out loud, and belting it out every other night for three hours on this current tour! Overall it was a fantastic experience seeing these guys for perhaps the last time.

  • Rush...Good...but I wanted more...

by AndyWatkinsJD on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 4 out of 5

First 5 songs, ive never heard a word of before. Felt like I was seeing a totally new, hard rocking band, similar to Stone Temple Pilots. Cool. Good new bad. Roll the Bones was 6th song...and finally I knew it. Awesome way to end first set. 2nd set starts with Tom Sawyer and directly into Red Barchetta....highlight of show. More new stuff rest of show...mixed with 2112 and a few other favorites... I wished Geddy had been a little more intimate with the crowd. Felt like band was promoting new album more than celebrating 40 years...would have liked some intimacy and subtlety....louder is not always better.

  • I can't believe it took me so long

by blueknight2112 on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing concert! I have been a fan of Rush for close to 40 years and this is my first concert and I can't believe it took me so long to go. Geddy, Alex and Neil are still virtuoso's of music and can lay it down like nobody else. Truly inspiring to see it live. What I found wildly entertaining was the video's they opened each set with. It really showed their humorous side, which I never knew about (again this was my first concert). No Country for Old Hens was particularly bizarre and my kind of humor. I also found the lighting and pyrotechnics very fun. I worked at the old Delta Center when I was in college and worked many concerts. Rush and Kiss I would say are the most entertaining bands I have seen when it comes to brilliance of their lighting and pyro's. What impressed me with Rush was that the stage props gradually got less as the show went on, like they were going backwards in time. It finally ended up with a couple of amps propped up on chairs like they were playing in a high school gym. The fact that they also didn't have an opening act, they played from 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm with a 20 minute break. Bravo! It allowed them to show off their entire 40 years of music and I loved every minute of it. If they come back through, I'm definitely not going to miss it!

  • RUSH never disappoints

by LuckyEG on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 3 out of 5

Great show, just a little loud but hey maybe I am just a little old.

  • Arena rock sucks

by groovyman1954 on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 2 out of 5

Oh Rush, dear Rush, where have you gone. The electricity of the crowd was awaiting the onslaught only to be let down by a boring first set and the horrible sound mix in the enclosed arena. After the break they got the crowd going with a few hits but Getty's voice was so annoying it ruined the night. They tried but we left feeling let down. They are talented but obviously were using a backing track to fill in the voids. I love Rush but this night was a miss.

  • The Maverick Center Was a Disappointing Venue

by 1rushlover on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 4 out of 5

For the last dozen or so years Rush has been playing at USANA Amphitheater. This is a comfortable, but smallish venue. Still, I would say that I prefer seeing Rush at USANA instead of The Maverick Center. The acoustics at The Maverick center were pretty bad. I've seen every Rush tour since 1981, and yes, they always play loudly, but I've heard them play many indoor venues, and this one was likely the worst. It's a good thing that Rush fans know all their music by heart, because it was really difficult to discern. Other than the terrible acoustics the show rocked. What can I say, it was Rush!

  • Rush Rocked; Maverick Center not so

by chadbag on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 5 out of 5

Rush rocked it. These guys still have it. And since they are not supporting an album this tour they can play all their greats, what they want, or whatever. Cheeky as usual in the little videos, stage set, etc. It was great fun. The venue in Utah not so great. I've been there twice, once for Yes long ago, and Rush this past Monday. Each time I have come away thinking that the sound was muddy, hard to hear distinct parts of the music, and hard to hear understand the vocals. Too much steel and concrete bouncing the sound all around just ruins the sound. The Maverick Center (formerly E Center) needs to do something when they are hosting musical events and not hockey, and put up acoustic wall pieces around the top of the venue, and in the rafters, or something.

  • Rush was fun as usual

by bsahippy on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 5 out of 5

Great videos to keep the flow of the show going. Good pace, wish more songs in 2.5 hours but kinda hard when songs like clock work angels is 8 minutes.

  • by TBaird on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 5 out of 5

I have attended several RUSH concerts over the years, and the R40 tour, by far, is the best I have ever seen! Best. Concert. Ever!

  • RUSH!!!

by Thatsrightsuckafoo33 on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 4 out of 5

Best. Concert. Ever. The rest of this is nothing but words to take up space because apparently my review was too short

  • Always a solid show.

by momsal on 7/16/15Maverik Center - West Valley CityRating: 5 out of 5

Sound on Getty's voice was not that good but overall show was great and Ny time you can see the drum world's supreme being in person is amazing! Fourth time seeing them live aNd never disappointed.
