About

RUSH took rock music into uncharted territory and to unmatched heights fueled by the once-in-a-lifetime interplay of Geddy Lee (bass, keys, vocals), Alex Lifeson (guitar, vocals), and the late Neil Peart (drums, lyrics). Selling over 45 million albums worldwide, garnering seven Grammy Award nominations, tallying billions of streams, and earning induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, the pioneering trio’s incalculable influence has spanned generations, attracting one of the most ardent audiences in history. These musicians effectively reimagined and redefined rock without boundaries, striking a balance between elite instrumentation, anthemic vocals, provocative lyricism, and timeless storytelling both sonically and thematically. RUSH notably achieved “the third most consecutive gold/platinum studio albums by a rock band behind only the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.” Furthermore, their accolades have included becoming Officers of the Order of Canada in 1996, achieving the Canadian Governor General’s Performing Arts Award in 2012, and receiving recognition with both a star on the Canada Walk of Fame and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The world tragically said goodbye to Peart on January 7, 2020 following his battle with brain cancer. Honoring Peart and the legacy the band had forged together, Lee and Lifeson celebrate RUSH on tour in 2026. It’s a moment for new listeners to finally experience this music live in all of its glory and another chance for the group’s faithful fanbase to rally again.

Amazing concert, and while I'm sad for this to be their final tour, I think they did the right thing by going out on top.

  • Say It 'Aint So!

by UnsinkableDad on 5/30/17Pleasure Dome - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Shocked to hear on my local Rock & Roll radio station that Rush will no longer be touring because it is too much on Neal Peart's knees, which have developed arthritis. Have never seen the band, though I always, always, wanted to. And now it seems I never will. A personal disaster since, I know of no band that can compete similarly in the niche they have carved out. Any doubts just listen to 'Xanadu,' 'Tom Sawyer,' 'The Trees,' 'Subdivisions,' 'Freewill,' 'Closer to the Heart,' and on and on and on. Two options here: They can tour and Neal Peart can be kept in his other-worldly drumming ship-shape by having acupuncture treatments done during the tour. I will personally see to it. I mean really! I am a qualified and certified Acupuncturist! The second option is for Rush to set up something like an annual week-long concert series in Canada (Toronto or whichever city they prefer. They will come!). Call it 'The Rush Music Pleasure Dome Fest' (In 'Xanadu' they speak of Kublai Khan's Pleasure Dome). This way Peart will only have to play for a week instead of grueling months of tour dates. This should work. As the saying goes 'If you can't bring Mohammed to the mountain then you bring the mountain to Mohammed.' So the fans will come to Rush. Neal Peart drumming is as if he's from another galaxy! And what can I say about Getty Lee and Alex Lifeson? There has never been a trio band that can make the stunning other-worldly music and lyrics as Rush has done for all these years. None! Period!

  • The Last Show Ever?

by CalGold on 2/28/16The Forum - InglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

Rush just played the last show of their R40 tour, & I was there. And if the rumors are true, this might have been their final show ever. This is the sixth time that I've seen them & they always deliver. R40 marks their 40th anniversary, even though they've actually been together for 41 years since 1974. I had the chance to see their R30 tour, 11 years ago & it was fantastic. And my first time seeing Rush was 29 years ago on their Power Windows tour back in 1986. Tonight Rush played 26 songs, starting with two songs off their most recent album ("Clockwork Angels" released in 2012) & working their way backwards in reverse chronological order & finished with two songs off their self-titled debut album ("Rush" released in 1974 sans Neil Peart). In all, the show lasted 3 hours. Pretty incredible for a bunch of sexagenarians. Typical of Rush, they didn't just play their radio hits, they played lots of deep album cuts, too. All during the show they had their stage hands rearrange the stage to reconfigure it the way it looked during the year of the tour when each song they played was released. They started with Brainy (a brain in a glass jar), Horny (a phonograph), & Corny (a popcorn machine), followed by washing machines, & then moved onto lots of amps, & ended up with only a couple of amps left to represent their beginnings before they made their money & could afford equipment. The show's use of lasers was extraordinary. They incorporated more lasers than any other show I've seen of theirs I hope the rumors are not true about this being their last tour, but that they will tour again & continue to do so until R50.

  • Rush R40 tour opening night Tulsa OK

by jcyborg on 10/15/15BOK Center - TulsaRating: 5 out of 5

Haven't seen them live since the R30 tour. They outdid themselves. So much music to pick their set from. These guys are STILL as incredible individual musicians as ever. Hope they still enjoy touring cause I'm not ready for it to end!

  • Excellent Show!

by Slam on 9/2/15The Forum - InglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

It was fairly easy getting into the place and everyone was pretty nice. It was packed and HOT! RUSH put on a technical yet entertaining show. They had 2 breaks in which they played some old videos which were funny and took you back to the old days. Nice touch!

  • RUSH was great!!!

RUSH performed fantastic! They always put on an outstanding performance.

  • 3 guys do not a rock band make

by ProgBlog on 8/9/15The Forum - InglewoodRating: 4 out of 5

Rush can retire now because it just won't get any better than the R40 tour. My wife is the hardcore Rush fan and loved the show, but even for the casual fan like myself the show was quite good. The sound at the Forum is excellent (have not seen a concert here since 1985) so didn't know what to expect. The Forum was well staffed and were friendlier than most venues. Rush combined deep cuts with FM classics to try to appease both hardcore and casual fans. Some may complain about the setlist but unless they played for 6 hours some songs had to be left out. The tour is over so not sure how helpful the review is, but the DVD should be out in time for Christmas.

Last show of their last tour, and it was amazing! I'm so glad to have been a part of it!!

  • Rush is old

by sillygorilly73 on 8/5/15Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre (formerly Verizon Wireless Amph) - IrvineRating: 2 out of 5

This was the 4th time I've seen them and it being the 40thanniversary tour I thought they'd play more hits or best of. They did play natural science which is my favorite songs, and spirit of the radio, temple of syrrinx and of course Tom Sawyer but other than that it was a bunch of newer songs that I personally didn't care for. Great musicians but geddy lees voice was kind of blown out and Neil Peart, although he rips on drums just doesn't have the same energy as he used to. You want to see a kick ass drummer, check out Josh Freese. I won't see Rush again. Sorry rush. But it's time to hang it up, or do a best of show in my opinion!

  • It was okay...

by BizzEguy on 8/5/15The Forum - InglewoodRating: 2 out of 5

Not a bad show, but not really exciting either. Not super thrilled with the set list choices, but hey, I'm not in the band. I thought it was a little annoying that they didn't play Limelight and other classic songs.

  • Rush in top form

by datsQwazy on 8/5/15The Forum - InglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

This is only the 10th time I have seen this legendary triumvirate, which is peanuts compared to some fans. That being said, each time was never lost on me. I have always walked away from a Rush show in pure elation, which lingers for days after. This show was no exception, in fact this is one of the best performances I have ever seen from them! Incredible musicianship combined with an entertaining stage show makes for a blast of an evening. The three hours went by in a blur. I would have stayed for 3 hours more! I truly hope I will see them again someday.

  • Grace under pressure! What a RUSH!!

by RyanSwan on 8/5/15The Forum - InglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

First, this was my 11th Rush concert...from 10 different tours. I was at the August 1st show, the last one of the tour of USA. It blew me away! By and far the most "complete" entertaining rock concert I have ever attended. Personally, I saw my favorite band play 3 of my favorite "deep cuts" that they do NOT play often: Losing It, Jacob's Ladder, and Lakeside Park. I love their entire catalog, but they only have so much time per show...I felt Rush put a lot of thought into their setlist. That night I witnessed 3 extremely talented "master" musicians perform a 3 hour show hitting ALL of the notes. BRAVO!

  • The Amazing Rush

by DTFanFromLI on 8/5/15The Forum - InglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

Without question, for 41 years now, the band called Rush has been the ultimate blend of the best of 1970s British progressive rock (Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull) and British hard rock of the same period (Led Zeppelin, The Who, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple). Unfairly classified as heavy metal, the Canadian trio routinely mixed the edgier side of Zeppelin and Sabbath with the lengthier passages by their prog rock counterparts, to often stirring effect. On their recent tour, culminating in the August 1 show at the Los Angeles Forum, the final stop on their 40th anniversary campaign (it is actually the 41st anniversary of the trio as a recording and performing act), they take their fans back to their 1970s roots in a two-set performance which starts with the newest material, from 2012's Clockwork Angels, and continues in reverse chronological order, with select tracks from the 2000s, 1990s, 1980s, eventually ending with a spirited 1970s collection. Arguably, what most diehard Rush followers deem as the band's creative peak is the period when the band first coalesced and most adventurously experimented with their songwriting and musicianship: 1976-1981. Beginning the August 1 second set with two paramount tracks from 1981's Moving Pictures album, Rush received the biggest response from the audience, ostensibly filled with fans who recalled the album firsthand 34 years ago. Perhaps the band's most popular song, Tom Sawyer, began the set, followed by Red Barchetta, which had been an alternate to other Moving Pictures songs on the tour. From there, Rush played key tracks from 1980's Permanent Waves album, including the perennial celebration of their hometown Toronto radio station, the song The Spirit of Radio which has opened many a Rush show over the past 35 years. Alas, the best was still yet to come. Selecting key tracks from the album 1978's Hemispheres, 1977's A Farewell to Kings, and 1976's 2112 for their first live Rush treatment in many decades was bold, breathtaking, and surreal, given their rare inclusion in live Rush shows since the early 1980s. It is with these three albums that Rush cemented its following, locked in its sound, and aesthetically became the band which has been beloved since. In a sense, returning to this material for what could be the band's final major tour was the ultimate statement on who Rush are as artists and how their singular synthesis of classic British rock arrived at something that was at once an homage to the greatness of prog and hard rock's founding fathers and simultaneously made the band wholly original. In the encore section of the show, Rush returned to their first three albums, playing obscure tracks while reducing their trademark stage, light and pyrotechnics show to its earliest mid-1970s incarnation when they were an opening act for bands such as Kiss and played tiny gymnasiums in the Toronto area with amplifiers set upon classroom chairs. When Rush closed the show, in one of their rare instances of onstage bonding, drummer Neil Peart, likely the greatest drummer ever in rock music, joined bandmates Alex Lifeson (guitar) and Geddy Lee (bass, keyboards, and vocals) at centre stage for a group bow and possibly final goodbye. For many reasons, this was a tremendous moment in the life of the band and its diehard fans, especially seeing the trio, huddled together, saluting the crowd, with the notoriously shy and reclusive Peart right in the middle. With all three members now in their early 60s, and the days of 200 concerts a year with back-to-back one night stands long gone, Rush tours, this one included, have gotten shorter, have been divided by an intermission, and have had gigs spaced out between them. As such, the dynamics of the band have changed, and their fan following, though as strong and wide as ever, understands and has accepted this new relationship. That said, with Clockwork Angels representing some of their most ambitious recorded music in decades, one hopes that the band will continue to at least record new material and play select live dates if not embark on massive full tours.

  • RUSH is RUSH!

The last show of their 40 year tour was held in the L.A. Forum. It was an amazing and sad event at the same time, knowing this is probably the last show of any major tour they have and will ever do again.

There is no greater live act than RUSH. After 40 years they are still powerful, precise, and dedicated to putting on a tremendous show. If their performance at The Forum on Saturday, August 1st, was their final farewell, then their legacy will remain intact as the greatest rock band of all time.
