RuPaul's Drag Race on Tour

Even beamed into people's living rooms through their TVs, RuPaul's Drag Race is one of the biggest and most fabulous shows on Earth — it was only a matter of time before its cavalcade of queens ended up in Las Vegas. Specifically, they took up residence at the Flamingo, in a room that for more than a decade hosted the Donny & Marie variety show. A far more colorful and extremely ambitious production, RuPaul's Drag Race LIVE! involves big dance numbers, wild wardrobe changes, all-star catwalk crawls, vicious lip-sync battles and, well, a "bitch-slap" competition that calls for audience involvement. The mission is to make fans feel like they're in the middle of an interactive episode taping — a rotating cast of beloved queens previously seen on the show partakes in a series of challenges, performances and face-offs. The crowd determines a winner via the Clap-O-Meter, an outsize applause measurement device made to look like big lips and a giant tongue. The choreography comes from longtime Ru pal Jamal Sims (Step Up, the Oscars, live-action Aladdin) and is set to tunes previously heard on the series (think Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears) as well as new original music from RuPaul, producer Leland and Tom Campbell. Meanwhile, the vibrant and often delightfully absurd sets transport viewers to a veritable wonderland of neon sass.

RuPaul's Drag Race in Concert

RuPaul's Drag Race debuted on Logo TV in 2009 and became an instant hit. It didn't hurt that the show's host, mentor and head judge was already the most famous and beloved drag queen the world had ever known, but the series quickly demonstrated its power to captivate audiences of all backgrounds and launch incredibly colorful new stars. By the time it kicked off its 12th season in 2020, the reality competition series had been nominated for 23 Emmys and won nine, not to mention increased awareness and (rabid) appreciation of drag culture, as well as gifted unto the world such truly inspired queens as Trixie Mattel, Bianca Del Rio and Alaska Thunderf*ck 5000. In 2017, RuPaul's Drag Race leapt to VH1 and also off of the screen via the Werq the World tour. That larger-than-life spectacle proved to be a hit, running for years and also paving the way for RuPaul's Drag Race LIVE! in Las Vegas, starring show alumni Yvie Oddly, Aquaria, Asia O'Hara, Derrick Barry, the Pit Crew and many more.

What a show! I knew it was gonna be good, but WOW. We were so lucky to see Latrice, Lawrence, Kennedy and Aja (she is so beautiful) C’mon cheekbones! The production, the songs, the talent! I would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you for making a lassie from Scotland Happy. I never thought I would ever get to see the legend that is Latrice ‘chunky yet funky’ Royale. UNREAL

  • What a blast!

Our party of four LOVED the show. Great energy, beautiful drag, lots of laughs. Our seats were near the runway (but not flanking it) and we could see the queens well. Asia Ohara was a wonderful hostess. We were impressed by her many outfit (and hair) changes and her ability to interact with the crowd. We plan to see this show again on next trip to Las Vegas.

We had a great time! The seats were great the show was so much fun. The cast were great. The service was slow for drinks but that was the only downfall.

  • Seemed like just a big ad for the tv show.

Lots of down time between set pieces that were filled with commercials of the actual show. And not much interaction between the show members. You have to completely rely on knowing the tv show contestants from multiple years in order to really enjoy.

  • Underwhelming

by PR on 5/5/24Flamingo Showroom at Flamingo Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

I love Ru Paul’s drag race. Never missed an episode. I was so excited to see the show live in vegas. Coming from London this was quite a big deal. Unfortunately we were very underwhelmed. Derrick Barry, somehow keeps forgetting her dance moves even though she’s been in every show, just looks like she is marking her performance as if she’s in rehearsal. Love Latrice but her presence is more emotional than high energy. Thank god for Pangina. Also the amount of clips in between each performance is so strange, boring and unnecessary. Lawrence does a good job of trying to keep it funny but ultimately it was quite disappointing and it pains me to say I wouldn’t recommend it.

  • So much FUN!

  • Uniqueness, talent and nerve!

by Mars on 4/29/24Flamingo Showroom at Flamingo Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

The venue is intimate and allows you to see queens in closer proximity. Amazing show, a little sad jorgeous wasn’t there due to them joining all stars but also happy for them. The show really was fun with queens pulling out all stops! Highly recommend and recommend you paying extra to see them up close!!!

  • This show was entertaining from start to finish.

This show was amazing. Asia O'Hara as a host was hilarious and she changed outfits like a million times. The queens put on a show worthy of Vegas. Pangina was all Asian anime with amazing props and a storyline, Derek Berry came outta no where literally, Latrice Royale, my god. You had all of us in tears at my booth and Coco Montrese brought me back to my teenage years with your perforamce. The pit crew even showed out. Big props to the production and choreo of this show. I can't wait to attend again.

  • Great whether you like Drag Race or not

My partner and I went to RPDR Live during our final night in Vegas. I'm a huge fan, my partner is not. We both had a great time. The music was great, the Queens were entertainting and Asia O'Hara was the highlight as the host - witty and energetic. There are a few downsides: the venue is small and intimate and there is no bathroom inside. You need to exit, get stamped, walk down the casino to the bathroom, go through all the re-entry bit to get back in. Second, the seating. Every seat seems solid but the tables kinda suck, they are cramped and you either need to crane your neck or turn your chair. I was able to turn my chair, thankfully, because there was no one behind me. If you are sitting in the front chair there is not a lot of room to turn so I had to scoot back so my partner had enough room. Something to keep in mind if you are at a full table. Despite that, the views were good. In my opinion the worst part is you don't know the cast ahead of time. According to the cast, it was Pangina and Latrice Royale's first show back, not sure who was there before. There's a big poster of Jorgeous outside the theatre and Instagram showed Bosco as a performer. The website doesn't indicate who is performing that night and that the cast rotates. The cast listed on the site was not who performed. I saw Pangina, Latrice, Kennedy Davenport, Derrick Berry, and Asia O'Hara was the host. They were great but I was expecting to also see Bosco and possibly Jorgeous. It would be great to know especially if I decide to go a second or third time when I visit.

  • Pretty good

My friends and I, who all watch the show and are gay, had a good time. However, the website had totally inaccurate queens listed as part of the cast. I think only one of the queens listed on the site was actually on cast for our show. The show was a little sloppy in parts, but an overall enjoyable time; I just wish we knew the cast better because we went in looking forward to some other queens who, it turned out, weren't performing. The booths are probably a better overall view for everyone if you are going with a group versus a table. Drinks are super expensive at the bar outside the theater. Heads up, the Werk Room gift shop is super cool, but has weird hours (5pm-1am daily) if you want to go at any time other than after the show. It has a cool werk room mirror spot, like where the queens get ready in the show, which is great for photos.
