RuPaul's Drag Race on Tour

Even beamed into people's living rooms through their TVs, RuPaul's Drag Race is one of the biggest and most fabulous shows on Earth — it was only a matter of time before its cavalcade of queens ended up in Las Vegas. Specifically, they took up residence at the Flamingo, in a room that for more than a decade hosted the Donny & Marie variety show. A far more colorful and extremely ambitious production, RuPaul's Drag Race LIVE! involves big dance numbers, wild wardrobe changes, all-star catwalk crawls, vicious lip-sync battles and, well, a "bitch-slap" competition that calls for audience involvement. The mission is to make fans feel like they're in the middle of an interactive episode taping — a rotating cast of beloved queens previously seen on the show partakes in a series of challenges, performances and face-offs. The crowd determines a winner via the Clap-O-Meter, an outsize applause measurement device made to look like big lips and a giant tongue. The choreography comes from longtime Ru pal Jamal Sims (Step Up, the Oscars, live-action Aladdin) and is set to tunes previously heard on the series (think Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears) as well as new original music from RuPaul, producer Leland and Tom Campbell. Meanwhile, the vibrant and often delightfully absurd sets transport viewers to a veritable wonderland of neon sass.

RuPaul's Drag Race in Concert

RuPaul's Drag Race debuted on Logo TV in 2009 and became an instant hit. It didn't hurt that the show's host, mentor and head judge was already the most famous and beloved drag queen the world had ever known, but the series quickly demonstrated its power to captivate audiences of all backgrounds and launch incredibly colorful new stars. By the time it kicked off its 12th season in 2020, the reality competition series had been nominated for 23 Emmys and won nine, not to mention increased awareness and (rabid) appreciation of drag culture, as well as gifted unto the world such truly inspired queens as Trixie Mattel, Bianca Del Rio and Alaska Thunderf*ck 5000. In 2017, RuPaul's Drag Race leapt to VH1 and also off of the screen via the Werq the World tour. That larger-than-life spectacle proved to be a hit, running for years and also paving the way for RuPaul's Drag Race LIVE! in Las Vegas, starring show alumni Yvie Oddly, Aquaria, Asia O'Hara, Derrick Barry, the Pit Crew and many more.

by Jake on 9/4/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 4 out of 5

Despite the in climate weather the audience was very enthusiastic. The girls did not disappoint with their performances and banter and costumes! My only complaint is that the sound was sometimes too loud

The sound was a bit loud where we were sitting, but being up close offset that minor inconvenience. Overall a fabulous performance and experience!

  • Best show ever!

by Kana on 9/4/24Flamingo Showroom at Flamingo Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great show. It was so entertaining and funny. The fact that my husband got dragged on stage only made it that much better. It is a night I will not forget. Would definitely go again!

  • BEST SHOW EVER

by KSCS on 9/4/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

This was the most fun, high energy, aesthetically pleasing show I’ve ever been to! The talent of the queens is unmatched. They were great about connecting with the audience, and the numbers were executed flawlessly.

  • Show was great, meet n greet did not work

by Bobaliscious on 9/4/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 3 out of 5

This was my first show seeing the queens and consequently my first meet and greet. The performance was great, although different than i imagined, it was a good show. The problem here was the meet and greet which for all intents and purposes did not really happen. We solely got to take a picture in the middle of all 7 queens but had no opportunity to speak to any of them. I have seen other vids online for the meet and greet and either queens met in small groups or one on one, but i have never seen it reduced to a simple picture. At a premier ticket price or as a $170 add on, it was simply not anywhere near worth it. I am not blaming the queens because i believe they would have met us given the chance even if some did run late, but the event organizers claimed too many people were there. That is the event organizers fault for selling more tickets than could be accommodated. Unfortunately this soured my personal experience, and knowing that this is a possible outcome forfuture events, it is likely the last time I will opt for that.

  • amazing

The drag queens turned out theid performance. Incredible night and they interacted amazing with the crowd. The glitz and the glamour awes me at each drag race tour. I was only saddened by the rushed meet and greet.

From the dance numbers to the costumes the show was flawless! One of the best drag performances I have seen. I love the RUPaul Drag race All Stars and they were even better in person.

  • An experience

by Robin on 9/4/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

First time experiencing a drag queen show and it was fantastic. The entertainment was top notch and funny. Loved how they interacted with the audience. Costumes were absolutely amazing. Took my daughter as a surprise. Would definitely see another show. The only downside was there were some children there and with the language used, it should have been 18+

by Ray on 9/3/24Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

All of the ladies were great! Loved the dance numbers, iconic runway looks, and audience participation games!! This was a great experience. Chanel was a great host, glad to have gotten to know her more than on the show. These ladies really are talented and put on a great show!! This is a must see!

  • Great Show

    by Nemlguy73 on 9/3/24Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

This years allstar show was better than the show offered last year in June. This show was more on a personal level celebrating each gurls style of drag. Some of the merch was already sold out & wished options had been presented. Went for online & found what was lacking. Wished the elevators worked for those handicapped as they had to be carried up the stairs for the meet & greet. Overall a great experience. Parking & security never an issue & getting into the venue was quick & easy as well.

by DragFan on 9/3/24Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

The Girls of RuPaul's Drag Race showed up and showed out! The venue was perfect and the audience was hype. I appreciated the raked seats in the mezzanine that had great views of the stage.

  • From TV to the stage!

by Karla on 8/29/24713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

This show was so good, it summarized the TV show runways, lipsyncs and challenges. Shannel was a great host and the interaction with the public was insane. These queens are All Stars for a reason and they served.

  • Fan-freaking-tastic

by Luke on 8/28/24713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

The show was packed with excellent performances, fun personalities and jaw dropping surprises. This was a beautiful, talented and fun cast. We enjoyed every bit of it.

  • FUN AND ENTERTAINING

    by M&M2023 on 8/28/24713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

This event was wonderful. The performers were entertaining and full of life. They interacted with the audience and made all a part of the fun. The venue was nice and the bars were easily accessible. The floor seating was a little cramped. Would choose the balcony next time as the view was probably better there. Overall a great event and will be attending again.
