RuPaul's Drag Race on Tour
Even beamed into people's living rooms through their TVs, RuPaul's Drag Race is one of the biggest and most fabulous shows on Earth — it was only a matter of time before its cavalcade of queens ended up in Las Vegas. Specifically, they took up residence at the Flamingo, in a room that for more than a decade hosted the Donny & Marie variety show. A far more colorful and extremely ambitious production, RuPaul's Drag Race LIVE! involves big dance numbers, wild wardrobe changes, all-star catwalk crawls, vicious lip-sync battles and, well, a "bitch-slap" competition that calls for audience involvement. The mission is to make fans feel like they're in the middle of an interactive episode taping — a rotating cast of beloved queens previously seen on the show partakes in a series of challenges, performances and face-offs. The crowd determines a winner via the Clap-O-Meter, an outsize applause measurement device made to look like big lips and a giant tongue. The choreography comes from longtime Ru pal Jamal Sims (Step Up, the Oscars, live-action Aladdin) and is set to tunes previously heard on the series (think Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears) as well as new original music from RuPaul, producer Leland and Tom Campbell. Meanwhile, the vibrant and often delightfully absurd sets transport viewers to a veritable wonderland of neon sass.
RuPaul's Drag Race in Concert
RuPaul's Drag Race debuted on Logo TV in 2009 and became an instant hit. It didn't hurt that the show's host, mentor and head judge was already the most famous and beloved drag queen the world had ever known, but the series quickly demonstrated its power to captivate audiences of all backgrounds and launch incredibly colorful new stars. By the time it kicked off its 12th season in 2020, the reality competition series had been nominated for 23 Emmys and won nine, not to mention increased awareness and (rabid) appreciation of drag culture, as well as gifted unto the world such truly inspired queens as Trixie Mattel, Bianca Del Rio and Alaska Thunderf*ck 5000. In 2017, RuPaul's Drag Race leapt to VH1 and also off of the screen via the Werq the World tour. That larger-than-life spectacle proved to be a hit, running for years and also paving the way for RuPaul's Drag Race LIVE! in Las Vegas, starring show alumni Yvie Oddly, Aquaria, Asia O'Hara, Derrick Barry, the Pit Crew and many more.
Awesome and entertaining show. Only wish RuPaul made an appearance.
It was much more than even my wildest expectations!! They were all great, Ginger Minj totally blew my mind and busted my gut! All of the performances were so unique to them and they looked like they were having a great time too! It was amazing!
Seriously one of the best shows I've ever been too! It was fun, hysterical & immensely entertaining on every level. I would definitely go again if given the chance. So if the Queens come to your city, you betta werk & snatch up tix!! Only down side was venue was general admission & standing room only for 3 hours. So skip the stilettos & go for sneakers or at least cute flats instead. Your feet & back will thank us both!
I would say this was one of the better shows that ive seen. I was really pleased on how the show went. I was looking forward to seeing Miss Fame, but she was in NYC accepting an award, but seeing Sharon Needles was great in her replacement. I would love to go see this show again if he were go come back around
We had tickets to the meet and greet and all the girls (Michelle included) were just so cordial, approachable and took the time to chat with each and every person. It was more than we could have imagined. Then the show, there are not enough words to described the pure talent and professionalism displayed by every member of the troupe. This was pure ecstasy for the senses from start to finish.
All of the Queens were great! By the end of the show I had lost my voice from screaming and cheering for them! I'm totally addicted to them the next time the show comes again I'm going to be there!
I got the Shantay you stay VIP package and I'm so glad I opted for it rather then general admission. It came with a cute Tote bag, and early access into the venue to meet the queens! I met and got photos with everyone there, Violet Chachki, Adore Delano, Courtney Act, Alaska Thunderfuck, Sharon Needles, Ginger Minj, Michelle Visage, and Phi Phi O'hara. They were all so nice and approachable, and ready to talk with and have fun with their fans. My friends and I were also the first lined up to get into the theatre and got first pick of the standing spots (obviously we chose right in front of the catwalk stage). It was an unforgettable night, I can't wait for next year!
The entire show from start to finish was outstanding. Let me start by saying Michelle Visage is hero. Love her. Now to the girls. I have seen the show several times (following them from place to place and having seen past versions of the show here in the city. I cannot get enough. I have know for years that if someone coordinated the talents of these girls really well, they could sell out any venue. Just to give you an idea, we laughed, we were shocked, we were blown away, and we were even educated about what has come before us.
The show was general admission so we arrived early to get a good view. As we sit down, a lady tells us we can't sit there because she is saving seats for her friends; they aren't even at the show yet. Since it's first come, first serve, I didn't move. Well she went and got the usher, who made us move!! My friend and I didn't appreciate it. The show was fabulous and was longer than I expected, no complaints there. Best Drag Show that I have seen thus far. I really enjoyed everything minus the seating mishap.
The show was sooo good! I wish I could see it every weekend.
Fun, mellow event for fans of the show. I had a great time. Warning for parents, however, since I couldnt find one. I'm not sure what goes on at the 21+ shows, but this one is not all ages. I told my child, a huge fan, I'd check it out this year, but I think it's a 14+, at best, event. It's a step or two raunchier than the show and a very grown up atmosphere due to no assigned seat (feels like a giant, awesome bar). This isn't a criticism, it's s great franchise and show!
Drag Queens are very friendly, they actually talk to you during the meet and greet....though Violet is just as cold in nature as she was on the show. The entire team is very professional, it has nothing to do with your local drags. The show is very well put together. I will go back next year without any doubt.
Fun..Fun..Fun. Great time had by all!! Good seats. Performers were amazing! Well worth the money
Wow!!!!! Impressive Loving enjoyable loved loved loved it
This was the first time I've witnessed Anaheim host and showcase any representation from Rupaul's Drag Race, and I have to say it was phenomenal!! As a drag queen myself, it was amazing to see so much love for the much-marginalized art-form of drag. I've lived in Anaheim my whole life, and I've felt a conservative approach to the social-economic standing of the entertainment quality and programming. I feel in this day and age, We need to take a step back and acknowledge the niche-entertainments, such as drag queens, and bring them into a forefront that is not only fully accepted, but celebrated! Let this night that Rupaul's Drag Race graced our city with love and compassion stand as a moment in Anaheim history!!!
RuPaul's Drag Race: Battle Of The Seasons was such an unforgettable night for both me and my friends. Not only was I able to see some of my favorite drag queens, but it taught me more about the LGBTQ+ community and the drag community. It made me feel more proud to be in such an amazing community around other people who cared just as much as I did. You can really feel the love with the viewers and the queens.
This was my first drag show, and i had the time of my life. They are incredibly talented and so funny!
Best show I've seen in a long time. Really enjoyed and do recommend seeing it.
What a great show! My partner and I will go every year! Highlights - 1) both opening numbers were great plays on Little Mermaid songs. 2) Michelle Visage has great love for the queens and all gay men everywhere. It was very heartwarming to see her heart shine through! her vocals were also amazing! I didn't expect her to be THAT good. 3) Ginger Minj, Alaska - hilarious as always! 4) Violet Chachki - sexy and provocative! 5) Courtney Act is incredible - beautiful, sexy and a wonderful performer. She is the total package. I would love to see a solo show with her. 6) Phi Phi O'Hara has really grown as a person and performer since Season 4. She was very funny and professional. Check out her 365 days of drag on her FaceBook page....exceptional! The only criticism I really have is that I would like to have seen more of Pearl. The DJ set prior to the show was a bit lackluster. Not sure if she is going through something or this is just a case of "wake up Pearl!" Perhaps a bigger role in the show that better showcases her talent would be better.
what a disappointment! the only laughs came from ginger minj. the production was choppy, and more of a glamour show than a drag show. guys dressed as girls dramatically singing their own songs is not MY idea of a drag show. there was NO fun (except for ginger); we left very disappointed in the show
