RÜFÜS DU SOL on Tour
The Australian electro act RÜFÜS DU SOL can fill massive venues and their stage show reimagines their catalog accordingly. Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt operate as a three-piece band, a setup that allows them to expand and contract their undulating songs in thrilling ways — drum solos, locked-in jamming, extended intros and outros. Their musicianship and stunning stage setup gives audiences a brand-new understanding of even their most familiar songs. Case in point: their 2019 Coachella performance of the song "Underwater" was accompanied by a 360-degree visual work helmed by master video director James Frost.
RÜFÜS DU SOL in Concert
The three men who make up RÜFÜS DU SOL started playing music together by chance. When a 2010 vacation day in Byron Bay, Australia, was plagued by rain, the trio decided to use their time inside to write a song. That kicked off a nearly decade-long partnership that has taken the trio around the world playing house-influenced bangers for delighted crowds.
RÜFÜS DU SOL took the "new year, new you" mandate seriously on New Year's Day 2011, when they released their debut EP, Rüfüs. Two tracks from the album, the thumping "Paris Collides" and the swirling "We Left," were embraced by music blogs. Their 2012 EP Blue included the brooding "This Summer" and featured eclectic production touches like a five-cent coin being used as a guitar pick.
RÜFÜS DU SOL's full-length debut, Atlas, came out in 2013 and went to No. 1 on the Australian Albums Chart while garnering them multiple ARIA Award nominations. While they wouldn't win a trophy until 2015, when the single "You Were Right" picked up the Best Dance Release award, the nominations established them as one of Australia's most renowned electronic acts. RÜFÜS DU SOL relocated to Los Angeles in 2016, and the two albums that followed their move, 2016's Bloom and 2018's Solace, showcased their growth as songwriters and sonic explorers, keeping their beats steady while expanding the universe surrounding them.
Best show ever. These Aussies might be resurrections of Jesus.
This is my second time seeing Rufus du Sol and they absolutely killed it! It was a true show where they sounded even better live. Their opening act, Elderbrook, was also super entertaining and a great performer who was truly engaged in his craft. Highly recommend to anyone who loves good vibes and dance music.
Opening act was good but Rufus du Sol was GREAT! They were much better than expected as they had my friends who never listened to much of their music dancing non-stop! My wife even had an incredible time! Memorable 40th Bday for me!!
10 times better than I even expected! Such an amazing & intimate show. I’ve never had a better time
Rufus Du Sol always puts on great performances, and this was no different. Great venue and even better performers!
Incredible! I had never seen them live before and was so blown away!
The music, the vibe, the light show... just everything was good.
What made this show extra great was the opener - elderbrook he was out of this world amazing. Really pumped up the crowd for Rufus. Rufus sounds even better live, the mix of the band instruments, vocals and strong beats kept the crowd asking for more!
Great venue to see Rufus du Sol. Saw them at III Points in 2017 and The Fillmore was THE place to catch these guys!!
Rufus du Sol put on an amazing show. Their songs are amazing. They sounded right on. Light show was over the top. I'll definitely go again, somewhere in the US, on their tour.
Awesome Show. Rufus sounded great! The venue was awesome. The VIP area was super chill.
One of the best shows I have attended in a long time!
Great show. They played all of the crowd favorites and then some, seamlessly working them all together. The stage presence was great too. Very intimate venue.
They were amazing, just like the album.. but better. Vocals, instrumentals, lights.. all on point! Best show I've seen in awhile.
I first saw Rufus Du Sol at the 9:30 club in Washington, D.C. back in November of 2016. They were absolutely amazing. This was my first time at The Fillmore Underground in Charlotte and upon arrival I was skeptical of the venue. It is a one story, bar type venue. I knew after seeing Rufus at the 9:30 club the venue was going to be packed as the night went on. Dena Amy was their first opener and she was beyond amazing, I fell in love. The venue was filling up slowly. Followed by Slow Magic, who was absolutely sensational. Towards the end of Slow Magic's set, you could see the crowd pouring in. During Slow Magic's set, attempting to get water showed to be quite a task. 2 hours, 3 people all attempting at either different bars or different areas of the bars, no bartender bothered to help any of us. Rufus finally came on, aside from the dehydration setting in, they were absolutely amazing. Great with the crowd, involved, with two openers who really amped up the audience. Unfortunately after numerous attempts to get water at the bars, going back and fourth to the bathroom in an attempt to hydrate somewhat from the sinks (which mind you, was strictly hot water) my friends and I departed after about 5 songs into Rufus. I loved their performance I just wish they were at a venue that was suited to handle the crowd that follows them. It was quite a let down as I purchased these tickets months in advance and eagerly awaited the show. Rufus Du Sol always performs and exceeds expectations! I would recommend a Rufus show to anyone, just would not recommend the venue of The Fillmore Underground in Charlotte, NC.
One of the best shows i've seen ever!!!! Seeing you three on stage was magical
These guys put on a great show. If you like the music you will love the live show. They are great musicians and their show is really fun to experience. They are interactive with the crowd too!
This show was amazing! We drove 5 hours to see Rufus du Sol. The venue in Charlottesville was great. We upgraded to VIP status and got seated at the railing. Had a great view of the stage. Both intro acts were very entertaining.
These guys are a hidden gem. Expect them to only play at huge venues next time they tour the US
RUFUS DU SOL continues to gain popularity as the Australian group tour the United States. I first caught their music on Spotify Coachella preview and saw their set at Coachella 2016 which was amazing. Returned to Denver and discovered they were playing Red Rocks with Odesza as the headliner. Another quality performance at the iconic venue. Then RUFUS DU SOL played OUTSIDE LANDS at Golden Gate Park. Booked on a relatively small side stage, the crowd was enormous and continually growing through their set. RUFUS DU SOL then sold out two nights at the Gothic Theatre (Denver). Brilliant performance in a fairly small venue. RUFUS DU SOL will be playing Red Rocks again on June 1st. RUFUS DU SOL made the most of their appearance at the Fillmore. The packed floor danced through the entire set. Lead singer Tyrone is so thoroughly engaging and was sincerely thrilled to be playing to a sold out Fillmore.
