About

ROYKSOPP IN CONCERT:

Norwegian electronica legends Royksopp have been experimenting with synths and drum machines since first stepping onto the scene in the late-'90s. Their live shows are a feast for the eyes and ears as the band plays signature hits like "Eple" and "Happy Up Here" dressed in elaborate stagewear, often making several wardrobe changes during their sets. Whether they're building beats or toying with unique sounds on stage, Royksopp deliver an electrifying performance every time with an amazing light show and frequent guest appearances. Swedish electropop sensation Robyn will join the band for their Royksopp and Robyn Do It Again Tour 2014, treating fans to a special collaboration on a string of worldwide tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Original Royksopp members Svein Berge and Torbjorn Brundtland met at a young age and became friends after realizing their mutual love for electronica music. Although they parted ways soon after, the duo reunited eight years later to form Royksopp, breaking into the mainstream with their 2001 debut Melody A.M, a No. 1 hit in their native Norway. Since then, the band has released three more chart-topping studio albums, won seven Spellemannprisen awards (AKA Norwegian Grammys), and remixed artists like Coldplay and Peter Gabriel. The collaborations continue for the band as they set out on the Royksopp and Robyn Do It Again Tour 2014 alongside the fellow Scandinavian singer.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

Incredible music, even more incredible live!!!

by kuuguy on 11/28/09The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

Disclaimer: This review will come nowhere remotely near doing these artists' live show justice but here goes regardless. Imagine Royksopp's chillingly beautiful melodies, heaven-scent harmonies, and effortlessly effective and silky smooth basslines, with an added ethereal ounce of perfection they are renowned for. Now picture this impeccably integrated and supplemented with LIVE vocals and instrumentation including drumming, bass guitar, and synths. Now add a couple of festively featured faces to finally put to the angelic voices behind the music. Insert some dancing-enhancing edits to the original material, a dynamic and strong stage presence, including outlandish costumes, masks, and trans-atlantic enthusiasm that's been festering over the course of a double digit hour flight. I have seen hundreds of shows and this will go down as one of the best, hands down. Two quotes I overhead on the way out after the show provide some good perspective. 1) "That was better than when I saw Daft Punk" 2) "I wish I was half as talented as those guys" I couldn't agree with the second comment more and I eagerly await the day where I have the opportunity to decide whether I agree with the first. In my opinion for the time being, there is Nor way you can top that performance!

    Royksopp Rocked

by BrandonOsman on 11/27/09Webster Hall - New York

went in only knowing their music, had no idea how much stage presence they had together. Blew me away. Terminal 5 is a grat venue, could be louder though.

    Royksopp 1st timer impressed

by lazilu on 11/27/09Webster Hall - New York

I turn 58 today, and I must have been the oldest person at the show, accompanying my under-18 son so he could get in. I've been to some amazing concerts, and while this kind of music is not my favorite, I went with an open mind, and came away having enjoyed the experience. These performers really put a ton of energy and expertise into their creations, and there's more hands-on musicianship than I expected to hear in the synthetic mix. The singer added a warmth and humanity that gave the whole an emotional charge. I'm not yet a convert, but an appreciator.

    I love Norweigans

by Hatticakes on 11/25/09Webster Hall - New York

The show was amazing and the performers did a good job with having only a few guest performers. Lighting effects really made the show and webster hall was the best venue for them to perform at. They didn't try to pack in too many fans with a bigger venue.

Amazing show. Didn't play too many songs off of Junior, but played an awesome mix of their early songs, songs from the middle albums, and a song or two yet to be released.

    Royksopp rocks

by OJGreen on 11/25/09Webster Hall - New York

Although the warm up show was not really energetic (they were not bad, it was just not energetic), Royksopp came in strong from the first note. A handful of hits from Junior, The Understanding and Melody AM (of course: Eple, Poor Leno, Remind me, So Easy) next to not less danceable lesser known Junior tracks. Singer Anneli Drecker remained part of the concert in disguise, behind venetian masks while dancing uninteruptedly.Torbjorn and Svein were always jumping and hitting hard on the keys and the cymbal and the buttons. The bass player was the perfect contribution to a powerful stage presence. I saw Royksopp for the first time 7 years ago and it was great... but I must say they've got better...

    STILL GOOD!

by mbc506 on 11/25/09Webster Hall - New York

I saw them for the first time in 2001 in England. Eight years later they are good, but not too experimental like the old days.

by greyc on 11/24/09Webster Hall - New York

Royksopp is my all time favorite band, and I finally got to see them in concert! The concert was so simple and they are so modest! The light show was the only thing intoxicating people besides from the music. It was great to see them live, and I would definitely see them live again!

    Royksopp rocked!

by Ouroborosoul on 11/20/09The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

The venue was tiny but nice. There was a bar toward the back offering a variety of drinks which was nice. Royksopp rocked out hard and, much to the crowds cheers, returned for a couple encores.
