fantastic ballet performance, choreography was brilliant, dancers skill, movement and technique the best. Did not care for modern or contemporary setting but this did not take away from over all ballet.

    Night in another world

by sewso on 5/4/14Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

This was a stunning experience. I am a visual artist so the look of the production is always important to me - no disappointment!! The passion and skill of the dancers was just plain perfection. I want to see it again!

    Mejia ballet was ok

by cinica on 5/4/13Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

The Majestic is the worst venue for ballet or dance performances. I changed seats several times and I can truly say I couldn't see well from any of them. TheLila Cockrell is much better.

    Romeo/Juliet Ballet

by g1516 on 2/19/13Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

Disappointing--I expected more from the Russian State Ballet. It appeared they used very young, inexperienced, second string dancers. It was not up to the standards I expected. Also, the Tilles Center is due for an over haul in the seating department. It is time for new, stadium seating. Are view of the stage was completely obstructed by the row of individuals in chairs in front of us. Fortunately, Andrew the manager was able to change our seats without a problem

    Romeo & Juliet

by Cavvww32 on 2/18/13Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

Average event, nice costumes, beautiful colors, but the presentation was below expectations. Props should improve more for better and realistic delivery of the show. I have a great admiration for Russian ballet dancers and my opinion about this particular crew is that more training is needed for some of the supporting dancers ( Romeo's friends). Thank you

Excellent Dancers but Program Plodded Along

by JimGFan on 2/18/13Tilles Center - Brookville

There is no question the dancers themselves are incredibly talented, especially Juliet, however, the program seemed very slow at times perhaps because it was done to recorded music, rather than live music, so there were a number of pregnant pauses that were uncomfortable. Some of the sequences seemed repetitive in nature, especially when the "townsfolk" were on the scene dancing together, nothing extraordinary. So although I highly recommend for the dancers themselves who are highly talented, the show itself and the choreography was rather tiresome and tedious.

    An extraordinary Romeo & Juliet

    by Gary10 on 8/2/12Playhouse/Intiman - Seattle

One of the most innovative interpretations I've seen. The acting was strong, but the direction was was remarkable. The interweaving of scenes across the stage was thrilling to watch and left me unable to imagine how the play could have been done otherwise. I was initially skeptical of the industrial staging, but found myself appreciating its spareness, allowing the direction to shine through.

    Amazing performances

by GildaS on 8/2/12Playhouse/Intiman - Seattle

Three cheers to Director Allison Narver and Scenic Designer Jennifer Zeyl. Too often the creative team goes unheralded. Marya Sea Kaminski as the Nurse performed magnificently. Best I've ever seen in that role. The entire ensemble was given a standing ovation...well-deserved.

    Romeo & Juliet

by AAvram on 7/31/12Playhouse/Intiman - Seattle

There was a geat deal of mobility by the actors. Each seemed well suited for the role. Juliet is a very attractive and well proportioned young woman.

    Juliet shines

by Verochio on 7/31/12Playhouse/Intiman - Seattle

It was a pleasure to see a Juliet who looked and acted like she was fourteen. She and Romeo (who was sometimes a bit overplayed) made a convincing team. The nurse stole most scenes she was in. I never saw an actor who was so much in character. A worthy performance overall.

    Superb Shakespeare

by AlanOnMI on 7/31/12Playhouse/Intiman - Seattle

Doesn't matter who wrote it, Intiman's current production of Romeo and Juliet is outstanding. It is concise and very accessible to theatre goers of all ages. As with much of Shakespeare, there is plenty of sexual innuendo, so take that into account for your youngsters.

    See it!

by MichaelASeattle on 7/30/12Playhouse/Intiman - Seattle

Great cast -- Romeo and Juliet both come across as being young, not the usual 20 somethings playing teenagers. Best part though is the brilliant modern staging -- makes the story much more relatable.

    R&J Great Restart for Intiman

by Nadoka on 7/29/12Playhouse/Intiman - Seattle

R&J was sparse set (nice, though), well acted, +++ energy, fun, and never dull.

    Romeo & Juliet

by BsGandE on 4/11/11Montgomery Performing Arts Centre - Montgomery

Looked more like West Side Story both in set and male costumes, but the dancing was delightful. Disappointed that the orchestra was not live. The death scene of Mercutio in Shakespeare's original script contained the pun: "Look for me tomorrow, and you shall find me a grave man," but this ballet went a little overboard in turning it into a comic scene with Mercutio revived several times, looking more like a drunk than someone in the throes of death. Juliet's decision to drink the drug took WAY too long. It sounded like someone did a replay on the dialog making the scene extraordinarily long and tiresome. Juliet was otherwise wonderful in all of her scenes.
