  • Still great

by TomoFromMN on 3/5/12Grand Casino Hinckley Event Center - HinckleyRating: 4 out of 5

The songs were still fresh, and his voice is still has its great range. I have to admit being partial to keyboards, and a band with three keyboards players can make any sound it wants. The clarinet solos were also excellent. I have seen Roger with just one other person in the band; the 5 member band is better. Someday I am going to have to see what the rest of SuperTramp sound like.

The show was okay. A few great songs. Some real sleepy songs. Was kinda dissapointed.

I loved every minute. All the great songs, great musicians, Roger sharing his great gift...a full two hours...if you are a fan, go see him.

An extremely enjoyable evening. The music was great, what made it especially memorable was the warmth. Roger evidently thought he was playing for a group of close friends.

  • Rodger Hodgson... the conscience of Supertramp

by MrJimbo on 3/4/12Grand Casino Hinckley Event Center - HinckleyRating: 5 out of 5

Incredible performance that exceeded my expectations. Hodgson has assembled a top notch group of musicians who can bring studio quality to a live performance. Interesting instrumentation and effects. Definitely worth the drive to Hinckley.

Fantastic! A trip through Supertrampland. The sax, harmonica and a dozen other instruments played by one band member was great as well. A show not to be missed!

  • Roger Hodgson, very memorable...

by onekgguy on 3/4/12Grand Casino Hinckley Event Center - HinckleyRating: 5 out of 5

Roger played a solid set of his classic songs backed by 4 other musicians. He often times gave interesting insight about the songs before playing them. He invited everyone to get out of their seats and come stand in front for the last few songs just before the lead-in to Child of Vision.

  • Roger Hodgson and band were amazing

by ProgRock51 on 3/4/12Grand Casino Hinckley Event Center - HinckleyRating: 5 out of 5

Roger Hodgson put on a great show and brought an awesome group of musicians, especially the muti-talented sax player, on tour with him. As expected, he played many of Supertramp's biggest hits and his voice sounded as good as it did 30years ago. Roger is a great entertainer and really connected with the audience. He enjoyed talking between sets and sharing stories about his life experiences and song writing. He is a remarkable musician and singer and showed a lot of energy and pure enjoyment while performing. Roger was worth every penny and if you have a chance to see him, you wil not be disappointed.

  • Roger Hodgson was "Super"

by molarman45 on 3/4/12Grand Casino Hinckley Event Center - HinckleyRating: 5 out of 5

Roger Hodgson's voice has not mellowed over the years. He was the voice of Supertramp and the inspirational songwriter of the very talented group. His vocal range was as crisp and refreshing Friday night as any of the band's previous recordings. I was particularly impressed with his new band members who accurately reproduced the fantastic sound for which Supertramp has been noted. Roger was personable and interacted genuinely with the audience. The venue size was perfect with vocals and instruments complimenting one another.

This guy is the best there is. A very humble all around nice guy. Oh, and did I mention he plays the best music in the world filled with love and insight into all aspects of life.

  • Roger Hodgson was a true showman

by Anonymous on 3/4/12Grand Casino Hinckley Event Center - HinckleyRating: 4 out of 5

I saw Supertramp in 1977 in a small venue in St Paul MN. I have enjoyed the music Roger Hodgson has been making through out his career. The first time my friend Red turned me onto Supertramp I told him they sounded like Pink Floyd and the Moody Blues put together to form one band. I didn't care for the venue but Mister Hodgson made up for what the venue lacked. I would definetly see him again.

  • Artist Fantastic, Venue OK

by Anonymous on 3/4/12Grand Casino Hinckley Event Center - HinckleyRating: 5 out of 5

The Roger Hodgson concert we saw at Grand Casino Hinckley in MN was absolutely wonderful and fantastic! Roger offered a great song selection, and his musical abilities appear as great as ever - including voice, guitar, piano, keyboards. The band was also great, especially the man on wind instruments (including sax, clarinet, picolo?, harmonica and more), plus percussion and keyboards and vocals. Thank you Roger so very much for an incredible trip down memory lane with my wife and my college roommate from 1976, who introduced my wife and I to Supertramp. This show really blew us away!!!! Venue is a convention hall with metal/padded chairs providing narrow personal space. Being almost straight back and about 60 feet from the stage helped in that department.

  • an amazing evening for Supertramp fans

by ndconcerts on 3/4/12Grand Casino Hinckley Event Center - HinckleyRating: 5 out of 5

I go to a LOT of shows (more than 60 last year alone), and I'm pretty jaded, but this concert from former Supertramp singer/songwriter Roger Hodgson has to go down as one of the best I've seen by anyone, ever. There was nothing about this concert I didn't love--the venue (an intimate ballroom at Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN), my seat (just left of center, 8 rows back), the setlist (sure, he didn't do "It's Raining Again"...so what?), the band backing him (fantastic), and the man himself (a treasure). Roger was vocally on par with Supertramp's '70s heyday, he looked great for 61, and it's clear that time hasn't touched him at all. He moved from a keyboard to 12-string acoustic guitars to a grand piano from song to song throughout the show. He was funny and VERY personable, telling stories behind the songs he wrote, and very gracious towards the people of Minnesota in general. I had seen him before, once with Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band in St. Paul in 2001 and then solo at Taste of Minnesota in 2006. This was my first time seeing him with his new touring band, and they were magnificent; they really fleshed out the songs beautifully. To see him perform what was essentially a Supertramp concert in such a small, intimate room was surreal. This was Roger first Minnesota appearance since 2006; hopefully after this wonderful show he'll come around more often.

  • Roger Hodgson, i.e. Super Tramp

by Bruinus on 3/4/12Grand Casino Hinckley Event Center - HinckleyRating: 5 out of 5

Basically a Super Tramp concert--about 3 songs outside the old band catalog. Hodgson can still sing great and the new band has noticeably better players in it, but stays faithful to the songs. I saw Super Tramp many times in the late 70's and loved the band. If you want to see Super Tramp, see this show. You will not be disappointed . The only criticism: lighting was barely adequate. ( the sound was very good).

He was awesome and he sounded just like it was off a CD....His voice was better than it was 30 years ago and he has such a beautiful spirit! Great time!

  • Roger was fantastic!! So was "The Band"!!

    by MikeyN3 on 3/4/12Grand Casino Hinckley - HinckleyRating: 5 out of 5

The show was fantastic!!! Roger was in great form, and, his voice was as good as ever, if not better!! He told the audience that this was the best band that he had ever toured with, and, he was RIGHT!! They were excellent musicians, especially the guy from London, ON Canada!!!

  • Roger has a repertoire and voice to die for!

by Peonyrv on 3/4/12Grand Casino Hinckley Event Center - HinckleyRating: 5 out of 5

Roger Hodgson still has it after all these years - What a voice! I have never been to a concert where the Artist played the 2 hours without and intermission. What a guy and what a band - fantastic! His interaction with the fans and audience felt like old friends getting together for a drink and chat and his back stories to the songs made the songs even more special. The only problem I had with the concert was that the seats were uncomfortable. Once we stood up, the show rocked! Wish Hinckley had "real" auditorium seats.

  • Entertaining Night!

Used to listen to Supertramp all the time so this was a dream to see Roger perform. His voice is untainted even after all these years. The order of music was thoughtfully planned to provide for an emotional experience. Talented band members and it was well worth the time to see this performance. Excited to download some of his later work that we listened to at the concert.
