About

Rodney Carrington on Tour

One of America's most popular comedians and an actor and author to boot, Rodney Carrington shows just what kind of good times can happen when country meets comedy.

Since the breakthrough success of his first major-label release Hangin' with Rodney in 1998, Carrington has been a favorite of audiences all over the world thanks to his enjoyably raucous take on the best things in life, starting with whatever's in the bottle in front of him. With signature songs like "Just One Beer," "Wish She Would Have Left Quicker" and "Put Your Clothes Back On," he proves that some jokes just go better when combined with the twang and swagger of a country tune.

In addition to being one of America's Top 10 highest-grossing comedians, Carrington headlined his own ABC sitcom with Rodney and co-starred with Toby Keith in the feature film Beer For My Horses. In 2017, his special Here Comes The Truth brought his blue-collar brand of stand-up and musical comedy to Netflix. His 2020 tour of venues across the U.S. and Canada follows the release of his latest album, Get Em Out, which hit No. 1 on the iTunes comedy chart.

Rodney Carrington Background

Rodney Carrington has been providing proudly blue-collar audiences something to laugh about ever since his earliest days as a performer at local venues and on radio shows in his native Texas in the ‘90s.

After years of touring nationally, Carrington's breakthrough came with the 1998 release of Hangin' With Rodney, a CD that introduced listeners to the combination of comedy and country music that fast became his trademark. In 2000, he scored his first Top 20 album on Billboard's country chart with Morning Wood, an equally raucous collection that included such fan favorites as "A Dozen Roses" and "Older Women."

Along with earning platinum sales as a recording artist, Carrington's achievements include starring in the ABC sitcom Rodney (2004-2006) and co-writing and co-starring with superstar Toby Keith in the feature film Beer For My Horses (2008). In 2007, he made the jump to the publishing world with his first book, Coming Clean. His Netflix special Here Comes the Truth debuted in 2017. Get Em Out, his eighth comedy album, was released in 2019.

  • Thought it would be better

I listened to his CD it was hilarious. I went to the show he told a story that wasn't that funny for 30-40 minutes. After that he sang some of the same songs he's been singing for 20 something years then it was over. The venue was kind of small and was still only half full. I wouldn't go back.

  • Meh, had higher hopes I suppose

There were a few moments I laughed...more so chuckled. The material was predictable and just not that clever. Other people in the audience seemed to really enjoy it, so maybe it was just me. Truthfully, the best part of the show was his rendition of "Can't Take My Eyes Off You"by Frankie Valli...because I thought he actually sings really well. Perhaps more singing, less stupid jokes IMO

Great show, but it's not for kids and the faint hearted!

  • Disappointing

by JoJo on 9/17/23Mark C. Smith Concert Hall at the Von Braun Center - HuntsvilleRating: 1 out of 5

The sound system at the Rodey Carrington show was awful. They must not have done a sound check. I'm not sure who was responsible, the venue or Rodney's crew, but either way the experience could have been better. We paid a lot for decent seats on the lower level but could not hear the opening act or Rodney's show clearly. The audio was distorted and echoed. The sound in that particular concert hall was horrible. A group sitting behind us asked the usher to have the gain adjusted because people couldn't hear very well. It was a struggle to hear what was said and we could not hear the punch lines. It did get slightly better half way through Rodney's show because someone asked to adjust the gain. Overall, it was not worth it. I have no desire to see Rodney live or a comedy act in the Mark C Smith concert hall again. It was a disappointment.

We laughed the entire show, he is as advertised. Got some racey moments but is is about actual life, you can't be soft or a liberal and enjoy the show.

  • Amazing and hilarious

    by Mike R on 8/29/23Rating: 5 out of 5

If you have never been to a Rodney Carrington show before and have a dirty sense of humor you MUST GO. He puts out a warning right at the start of the kind of language you will expect. He opens up about his life and kids. He's a good old country boy who never stops bringing the jokes and leaves the crowd in tears! Can't wait to go to another show! 10/10 would recommend going.

by Erin on 8/28/23Rating: 5 out of 5

I was so excited Rodney Carrington was in Chattanooga! My very very best friend who is a Retired Veteran has been in town visiting me. And we have loved Rodney for years. We both lived on the west coast and never got a chance to see him live! When I saw this venue happening it was like it was meant to be!

  • Losing his appeal

Good show, just not what it used to be. Seems he's a little jaded over the years but still a very funny man.

This was our 2nd time seeing Rodney and he did not disappoint! I had cried off most of my makeup 15 minutes into his set. He is one of the few comedians that has stayed relatable and funny over the years. LOVE LOVE LOVE him!!
