Rick Schuler sings from the soul just like John Denver. My wife and I felt like we were actually at a John Denver concert. The event was a great way to start the Christmas season. We hope to see Rick back in Southern Florida soon.
We enjoyed the show with few issues. The iPad accompaniment on some songs was too loud, overwhelming the guitar and vocal. Rick was best when playing the guitar and singing without the iPad.
It was very enjoyable! Special holiday show! Would attend again. If had to suggest it would have been nice to have more John Denver stories
Rick presented an enjoyable evening of John Denver music and stories, as well as some carols to sing along with. It was so good to hear some of these songs from one of my favorite artists! Unfortunately , he seemed to be "winging it", forgetting words or putting in wrong ones, even in "Jingle Bells". He charmed his way through it all, though. I enjoyed his story about being in on the discovery of an additional bit of the Dead Sea Scrolls at an archeological dig in Israel.
The whole evening was magical. It truly felt like John Denver was present. Thank you!!
This was the best concert I've been to in two years - well, it's actually the only one. But it was excellent. Rick Schuler did a superb job and brought back many pleasant memories. Excellent.
To me it seemed like he really didn’t want to be there. He butchered several Christmas songs, did okay on the John Denver song, but all in all was not a great concert.
The performer was an excellent singer, very enthusiastic, funny, and highly engaging for the audience throughout the show.
Stop the mask mandate at the Rochester MN Civic Center. It's ridiculous. If someone wants to wear a mask fine. I am not going to another venue there until they stop this ridiculous mask mandate.

Even though last row in the house it was great sound (after an early adjustment was made to it). Really enjoyed the stories, songs and Rick's experiences. Fun going back in time and having a 'far out' evening. Everyone sang along and including Christmas songs just added to the overall evening. Got a bit warm upstairs but heat rises so to be expected. I'd go again. Please invite Rick back next year!
Love this venue is available! Very beautifully decorated for season outside and comfortable inside. Performer Rick was very good. BUT the performance was packed and no masks were required nor social distance seating was done and worst there was no air movement at all- just still and very warm. Nor was proof of vaccination requested like at other concerts these days. So that is disappointing. At the least masks and air movement should be happening in this modern building. The sound was a bit over modulated in a few songs. Lastly all refreshments were reasonably priced for this kind of venue but cocktails. $16 is steep for a house brand pour/ how about $12? But I understand it goes to the cause and people must be paid. 😙
It was a warm, fun evening with occasional sing-alongs, with all of the John Denver hits and other treasures as well.
Concert was great. Rick Schuler plays the John Denver music beautifully -- and it was comforting to hear that Rick was so familiar with John's life story. We also enjoyed Rick's personal story. Very interesting. Unfortunately we were disappointed that The Ames Center did not require either proof of vaccination or that guests wear face masks, a pretty common requirement today in most Twin Cities theaters considering the number of COVID cases currently in MN. With 900+ people in the venue we were concerned and we won't be returning to the Ames Center.
I brought my elderly mother and sister to this show and we lucked out with front row seats since I purchased tickets when the show was first announced. The show was wonderful and we knew most of the songs and were able to sing along. Adding Christmas music was a bonus and that sing along was awesome as well. I sure hope you have this show next year. I would also invite more relatives as I know they would love it too.
I was so thankful that we had the choice whether to wear masks. It was nice to leave it up to us. The singer was sweet. Fun to listen to. I loved the free parking nearby!! This will definitely be a spot we look for concerts at!!
What a joyful evening, a time for singing, clapping, laughing and crying, when Rick sang some of John Denver’s songs , it brought back a lot of memories of my husband who died of Covid-19, he used to sing along with he’s music, I truly enjoyed every moment of the evening and hopefully will make it a yearly special, thank you Ames theater and Rick Schuler
This was the ultimate trubute to John Denver. Rick Schuler definitely honors John's memory in the most touching way.
Before coming to the show, I had no idea what to expect. How surprised was I when the show started how amazing it was going to be! Felt like I was seeing John Denver! He did such a great job! It was a fabulous night loaded with great music & wonderful memories.
Would recommend this show to all! Venue was small so everyone had a great view. Sound was great.
