Undoubtedly the finest tribute show my family and I have ever been to. Great music by a talented artist!
This was an unexpected delight, as the artist is himself a very uniquely gifted and humble man who enjoyed sharing his personal stories and engaging the audience. It was a tastefully done tribute and journey. We hope to see hime again!
The artist Rick Schuler did not diappoint. He sang, looked like, and talked like John Denver. He also had a quirky and wacky "far out"personality, which any fan of John Denver, would think the Real John Denver would have, so IMHO it was an A++ John Denver Experience. Rick Schuler is himself a great creative artist and singer as he proved with some of his original music that he had written. Great show at what i consider a bargain price. I will definitely go see him again either as a John Denver tribute act, or as himself, playing his own music....
I expected to hear more of John Denver classic hits. He only played a handful and then played his own stuff plus some other old guys songs. I don't want to hear the audience sing either. Too much of him asking the audience to sing along with the best songs. I will never see this show ever again.
This was my first time in this theater. Mr. Schuler is a good copy of John Denver. His music was very close to the real deal…but not 100%. He sang most of the big hits and the show picked up a better pace after intermission. I sorta expected more from him about John Denver the person. Also Schuler probably thought he was pandering to an Alabama audience by bringing up Bidenomics. We didn’t need that. Overall a solid B.
More handicapp parking that is close to the venue is needed badly.. Glad to see parking prices more affordable than in the past. This venue is 100% better than the Orion. Seats were comfortable and consessions were priced reasonably.
Very enjoyable, even though the show in Charlotte was not a huge production; just Rick by himself. Rick sounds very, very much like John Denver. He looks like John Denver quite a bit. He does a great job on the songs, and has a warm and fun stage presence. He sprinkled in a couple of his own songs, and some Christmas songs. We also liked hearing a tid-bit about his adventures in Israel.
Very nice venue and a good show. Rick is a good entertainer and worth seeing.
The show was wonderful. Rick Schuler is talented, funny and has a beautiful voice. I would recommend seeing this one. The show was very entertaining on multiple levels. Don't wait...get those tickets and go see the show!!
Excellent performance!! Music and entertainment was beyond what I expected. Rick engaged the audience in the music which made it even more special for all of us. The only thing I would have changed is ending the show with “Silent Night” with all of us singing!!
Compared to what I thought this experience was going to be, it didnt even come close to what my expectations were. I figured since this was Ricks thing, he’d come out and look like John or have some type of costume or something. He did not. He was just some hippy dude with a weird haircut and a bedazzled belt. There was another acoustic guitar on stage for the entire performance that he never touched, so I’m assuming it was set dressing? Anyways, when he started playing, the guitar and vocals were so loud and they weren’t turned down or mixed at all throughout the show. He also played along to an iPod, which was loud as all hell and honestly, really lame. He forgot words to songs, forgot a song entirely from the set until someone in the crowd mentioned a tune he hadn’t played yet. He messed up a bunch of guitar licks and when he played along with the iPod, his timing was off. Also, wayyyy too much jesus talk for my liking. This performance was completely underwhelming and frankly, disappointing. I’m bummed I spent $200 on three tickets.
John Shuler WAS John Denver! Not only did he closely resemble him, but his voice was spot on while singing Denver's songs and Christmas standards. He engaged the audience and told brief stories about his own life and Denver lore without diminishing the performance . Would definitely go again
Rick was outstanding! Mixed the stories and music in true John Denver style.
Wife and I lived him! Hope he comes back to Syracuse next year!
I got first row seats for my mom for her birthday. No where did it say that handicap people would not be able to make it to the front row. My mom Uses a walker and can’t do stairs. There was no way to get her down to our seats that I purchased. So they had us in the very back row. Which the seating there was bad too. People who had scooters couldn’t even sit forward. Their scooters didn’t have enough room so they had to turn to the side to see him. It’s 2023. There should be way better handicapped accessible seating by now. Other than that. The show was wonderful.
Wonderful Show...a Must-experience for any John Denver fan! Rick Schuler not only Looks EXACTLY!! like John Denver, but Sounds Exactly like him too, in Both Singing And Spoken Word Mannerisms! (This review is coming from one whom Rarely attends Tribute shows; for me, it's normally 'the real artist or nothing', just listen to my extensive collection of recordings by the Original artists)! The Only Improvement to be suggested w/b for Rick Schuler to come out into the lobby after his shows to meet/ greet fans & make/ sell recorded cd; he has No Merch whatsoever, nor comes out to meet fans after his show.
loved this event. I worked with Rick and he is a really nice guy. His concert was family friendly and relaxing. He is very talented. The venue in St. Louis - The Pagent - every seat was great for viewing. Hope to see this event again in the future. Thanks Rick!
The show was so much fun, and a wonderful trip down memory lane. Rick sounded so much like John Denver; it was amazing. We enjoyed hearing all of the old songs, and being invited to sing along on several. The Christmas carol sing-a-longs were also fun, and helped get us in the mood for the season. I have found myself singing or humming John Denver tunes all week, after the concert. I would definitely return to see another performance next year!
I went to see Rick Schuler play John Denver music. What I got was a bunch of sing a long Christmas carols. I left I wasn’t there for carols. Very disappointed
All in all--Rick Schuler and his entourage were very entertaining. Rick sounds and looks like John Denver! Molly Weaver had the most gorgeous voice and the guitarist was amazing. I wish they had sung more John Denver tunes and excluded some of the audience-involved Christmas carols. A couple of carols would have been sufficient.
