    Best RPO event ever!

by Russ on 4/11/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

Awesome! Best RPO event I've ever attended, and I'm a season ticket holder. Certainly more spectacular than the eclipse itself!

    Concert of Totality

by Joe M on 4/11/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

If they play it, they will come. What a display and sound scape to preface our eclipse experience. All involved deserve credit for the success of art in Rochester. What’s next?!

    A rewarding experience

by Jim on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

Getting into the venue was more difficult than I expected. I think all of us expected to just walk right in but I later heard that this was one of the largest events ever in Rochester. The staff and security were exceptionally professional. The show started a half hour late in order to get everyone waiting to get into the building. Once the show started we were treated to an extravaganza unmatched in my experience. I wish there could be more shows like this in Rochester. Thanks to all involved in putting this on.

    Spectacular Eclipse Spectacular

by D Squared on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

We arrived downtown early so ran into no traffic and got a prime parking spot in the nearest parking lot. We got in right away as we arrived as they were opening the doors. I have not heard why the entrance was not able to handle the sold out crowd. The event started 1/2 hour late and people were being seated until 10 to 8. The rest of the evening was spectacular so was appropriately named. The celestial video backdrop was out of this world (pardon the pun). The selection of the musical pieces, the City Ballet , the Push Physical Theatre, Troup Vertigo, the juggler, the Madrigalia Festival Chorus, Jeff Tyzik's original compositions and his conducting as well as that of Director Andreas Delfs and Assistant Conductor, Jherrad Hardeman, were absolutely lovely. The leapfrogging group I could have done without but I am sure was enjoyed by the children. I will remember that evening as showing what an exquisite event the RPO can arrange for a life-changing occurrence as the eclipse for the Rochester inhabitants and for those who travelled hundreds of miles to witness not only the eclipse but our marvelous Rochester Philharmonica Orchestra.

    RPO Spectacular

by Bonnie W on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

The RPO Eclipse concert was SPECTACULAR!! The musicianship of this orchestra is second to none. The program was orchestrated perfectly and the music was wonderful! The addition of the ballet, the aerial and acrobatic acts were exciting and beautiful! It was the perfect concert to add to the excitement of the eclipse!

    RPO Eclipse Spectacular

by Cindilu on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

The music was excellent, the visuals were very cool and the dancers were outstanding… I loved the Blue Danube Waltz!!! The aerialists and Push Physical Theatre were perfect for the theme of the event. Whoever thought to put this together had a great idea and it was carried through with outstanding talent and skill in front of and behind the orchestra!!

Traffic logjam with no police in sight

by Barb on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

I was really looking forward to attending the RPO Eclipse Spectacular. I drove by myself and was planning on parking in the underground garage next to the public safety building so I could walk right over to the arena through the tunnel. I was heartbroken to exit 490 at Plymouth Ave to find traffic on Plymouth and Broad Streets at a complete standstill. I sat there for about 7 minutes and saw no movement. Since I did not want to park at another garage and walk back in the dark, I turned around and went home. Why weren't police there to direct traffic and help people with parking? There should have brrn more parking guidelines or perhaps busses to shuttle people to the event. I hope this event was recorded. I would love to purchase a DVD of the performance.

    Great performance by the RPO

by OTR/L on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

The eclipse concert was great. Love the music selection, arerial artists. The juggler was great. The ballet dancers added a nice addition to the performance. Only complaint was the disorganization to enter blue cross arena. There were no clear lines. Concert had a very late start causing two people I was with to have to leave in the middle of the second half. Floor seats were great. Overall, a really great experience!

    Spectacular Concert

by NBC on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

The eclipse concert was a magical experience. It brought me back to times when we brought our family to the Holiday Music/Skating/Choral event at the Blue Cross Arena for the community. It was so we'll orchestrated between the multiple groups. Loved how it all choreographed together. Wonderful Eclipse piece!!

    Spectacular

by Tom Myers on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

I was amazed at the complete performance. Not only was I surprised that the sound quality was great, the lighting and effects were amazing, only surpassed by the great performances of the musicians, great video backdrop and we were totally blown away by all the performances, Ballet, juggling, physical, rope dancing.... We ran into someone from out of town that came to the performance and said he stages events like this all across the country and was very impressed. He stated that while smaller, it was the quality of Taylor Swifts Eras Tour! Thanks Rochester!

    RPO Eclipse Spectacular Pure Light

by JanetsJive on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

What a magical evening with the RPO Eclipse Spectacular--Clair De Lune, Rochester City Ballet, acrobats that juggle, trapeze artists, PUSH Physical Theatre, light saber fights, getting to sing "Let the Sun Shine In"with a packed house to summon in the sun. A one-in-a-lifetime experience.

    Once in a lifetime

by Extravaganza 2024 on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

Fabulous music and a great community sharing experience. The only disappointment was the lighting of the performers on the stage in front of the Philharmonic. Those of us in the upper seats understand we wouldn’t see as well as those closer but the video screen of the stage activity was lacking. From what I could determine there were 3 video cameras but not effectively used. Dancers across the stage were not shown unless they were in the center of the stage. Just bear that in mind if you ever play in the arena again

    Fabulous

by Ciccio on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

We are so fortunate in Rochester to have such a world class orchestra and conductors. What a fantastic night with the RPO, laser lights, juggler and acrobatics , the Rochester ballet, and a Star Wars duel. We are so glad to have attended.

    RPO Spectacular was entertaining

by BAM on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

After seeing U2 at the Sphere (Las Vegas), no other venue in the world compares for the visual, tactile or auditory experience. That being said, the RPO, all conductors, Madrigalia and Troupe Vertigo performed very well in their setting. Blue Cross Arena needs a better sound system, improved light effects and larger screen to showcase the talent’s capabilities. Also, Rochester needs to find a way to attract big talent that usually goes to Buffalo or Syracuse, forcing us to always make the journey.

    Great! But audio...

by Hamliner on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

This spectacular was one indeed. Well planned & executed by the BCA, the RPO and all ensembles delivered Great Performances. What a program! The only ding was that the audio amplification of the orchestra was unbalanced - the brass and winds could hardly be heard over the strings. That must have been microphone placement?

Like the eclipse, it was well-intentioned but fell short.

by James on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

The RPO gets 5 stars for their performance but 1 star for starting while there was still a huge line trying to get through security. The result is a 3-star rating for them. Blue Cross Arena definitely only gets 1 star! The size of the crowd would have been known by the ticket sales. To have so few security portals was outrageous! We thoroughly enjoyed the part of the performance that we heard, and the music selection was spot on. "Eclipse"by Pink Floyd would have been an obvious choice but was omitted.

    Awesome Unforgettable Night

by Stef on 4/10/24Blue Cross Arena - Rochester

The orchestra was brilliant! The music selections were so appropriate for the occasion and the accompanying performances were outstanding. Honestly I was smiling and gasping ( at the aerialists), and clapping for all. My takeaway? Rochester is filled with talent of all kinds and I was so proud to call Rochester my city!
