    RPO delivers delight

by realbrit on 7/6/13Constellation Brands–Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center: CMAC - Canandaigua

Overall a delightful concert even though the first half was a little disappointing, the second half was wonderful and more than made up for it -- especially the mixture of the orchestra and the choir in the 1812 overture. Great value too supported by an after-the-show firework display. A Sousa march might have been included in the first half for better balance but a great evening. Concessions disappointing and seemed to have been trimmed back to match ~50% attendance!

The RPO Queen tribute concert was so-so. The orchestra and band were great, but it was often difficult to hear the singers. I wonder if the sound man can hear. While it was too great a hope to think there could be a reincarnation of Freddie Mercury, the concert would have benefited from better singers who could be heard.

    RPO Queen Tribute

by Ardith on 8/1/12Constellation Brands–Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center: CMAC - Canandaigua

What a fantastic show!!! The orchestra performed beautifully with the London performers. It's a shame how many seats were empty, because the show truly was great from start to finish!!

    Queen by RPO

by pookster8 on 7/31/12Constellation Brands–Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center: CMAC - Canandaigua

I was expecting more from the orchestra, but they played a small point of the show. They were merely slight backup for the main band and singers. The singers were pretty good, and they did most of the best Queen songs. The band was pretty good also.

    Queen and the RPO

by LovetheRPO on 7/31/12Constellation Brands–Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center: CMAC - Canandaigua

Great performance by "We Will Rock You" and need I say more about our RPO. Superb! Queen's music in this venue is amazing. A must see performance at least once.

    RPO Rocks Out to Queen!

by DQDQ on 7/30/12Constellation Brands–Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center: CMAC - Canandaigua

It was a good show... something different. I found it to be a bit more theatrical than I had imagined. I was expecting it to be the RPO doing Queen songs in a classical style. Instead, the singers were from the London theatre, so they put on a show, more or less. They all had great voices. There was also a band consisting of drums, guitar, etc..., so it made it sound more rock-n-roll.

    RPO/Music of Queen

by Samsonsmom on 7/30/12Constellation Brands–Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center: CMAC - Canandaigua

Stared out slow but ended well. Wish the guys would have performed more than the gals. These performers had great vocals but still didn't have the range of Freddy Mercury.

Cirque de la Symphonie was superfabulous

by musicreader22 on 7/29/10Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

Cirque de la Symphonie had an amazing music selection. The orchestra was fabulous and looked like they were having fun along with the performers. The acrobatic were also very good, and at parts you could tell how fun it was for them too!

    Grandmother's review

by pieforest on 7/25/10Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

We loved it. I had great seats, took 2 granddaughters not yet in their teens. The performances were short, and exceptional. The weather also played a part in that the threatened thunderstorm did not occur. IWe were awed at the virtuosity of the performers. WE all had our : favorites: A fine blend of programming with the orchestra.

    RPO was excellent, however,

by Scarboly on 7/12/10Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

The New York Singers were disappointing. It appeared that they had not had adequate rehearsal time and appeared to be trying to generate enthusiasm vs "being" enthusiastic. The balance of sound was not favorable and often were overpowered by the Orchestra. Conductor was wonderful, as always. I must say that I found the appearance of the "Singers" (except for Peter) to be troublesome and inappropriate for the venue. The short, short turquoise dress with shoes that were an after thought was unattractive and NEVER worn in the 60-70s. I found it hard to not be distracted... they all need someone to help them present a professional, well coordinated and pleasing appearance!!

RPO + NY Voices are sensational again

by zeromust on 7/11/10Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

Jeff Tyzik is truly a Rochester gem. His arrangements and his choice of personnel are second to none. When he presents them as the greatest philharmonic in the world, he is not using hyperbole (this is from a musician). NY Voices are an incredible group whose versatility knows no bounds. They make me enjoy songs that I have personally disliked. Their arangements are amazing, and when combined with the RPO, you have the makings of a very enjoyable evening - one that you wish will never end.

The mix of patriotic songs and jazz was perfect. The best of America in the stage.
