Robert Hunter brings the Dead alive
by billysunshine on 10/10/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonI was extremely fortunate to be able to attend Robert Hunter's recent solo concert at the Wilbur Theater. The venue could not have been better; intimate with great accoustics and a knowledgeable crowd that appreciated the significance of the show. Mr. Hunter knocked it out of the park from his opening Box of Rain to his encore of Ripple and an a cappella old Irish drinking song. The first set was somewhat abbreviated, but the lengthy second set more than made up for that. Who knew that Scarlet Begonias was written for his wife and his tribute to Jerry, Brokedown Palace had more emotion than many could handle. His more than adequate guitar work was complemented on some songs with harmonica playing between verses. Don't miss him if he comes around again.
