Robert Hunter brings the Dead alive

by billysunshine on 10/10/13Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I was extremely fortunate to be able to attend Robert Hunter's recent solo concert at the Wilbur Theater. The venue could not have been better; intimate with great accoustics and a knowledgeable crowd that appreciated the significance of the show. Mr. Hunter knocked it out of the park from his opening Box of Rain to his encore of Ripple and an a cappella old Irish drinking song. The first set was somewhat abbreviated, but the lengthy second set more than made up for that. Who knew that Scarlet Begonias was written for his wife and his tribute to Jerry, Brokedown Palace had more emotion than many could handle. His more than adequate guitar work was complemented on some songs with harmonica playing between verses. Don't miss him if he comes around again.

    Back from the Dead

Truely his best performance ever. Gifted songwriter and mediocre guitarist at best exceeded expectations and provided us with an emotional and unforgettable performance. Well done!

Everything I expected and more. Robert Hunter delivered pure high-quality Americana at it's best. My only concert this century and well worth the wait. BRAVO!

    The Legend Continues

by Clawhammered on 10/1/13Miller Symphony Hall - Allentown

Although Robert's start was sketchy as his guitar was out of tune, he recovered quickly and turned it around. It didn't matter to any of us though. He could have come out playing a kazoo and he would have been just as highly regarded. For us DeadHeads, he is the "writer of the songs." Many of the Grateful Dead songs were written by him. Each and everyone of us in the audience were entranced. It's like hearing the Gospel written from he who wrote it.

    Hunter

by Deebirdgirl on 9/30/13The Paramount - Huntington

The Paramount theatre is small and intimate. Robert Hunter was a special treat and a pleasure. I wish the show could have lasted all night. I wanted to bear every song he ever wrote. I wish he was not so shy and could have talked to the audience. I would have loved to hear a story! I bought a really lovely artist signed poster at a very reasonable price but really wanted a CD but none available. How do i access Robert Hunter's online store? I wish i had more time and money to see another show.

    He's a legend

by Slicerboy on 9/30/13The Paramount - Huntington

Robert is a legendary lyracist and an OK entertainer. I have seen him before many years ago and I thought this show was better then last time I saw him. He's like a fine wine, gets better with age. Though the show really hit home with me as I was missing my boy, Jerry, more than ever during that show. He lest us way too early and will always be in my heart and soul.
