    Amazingggggggggggg

by zeebefree on 11/9/13Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

I barely have any words for the Robert Glasper Exeriment. It was an amazing show! Along with being ridiculously talented, Robert Glasper is hilarious and seems very personable. Casey Benjamin gave off this sassy rockstar vibe with his appearance as he got down on the saxophones, guitar keyboard, and his vocal distortion situation. Derrick Hodge tore it up on the bass--I really enjoyed how he was able to rock it on stage by himself. And my buddy, Chris Dave, THREW DOWN on the drums. Aaahh, it was amazingggggggggg. That's all I got.

Great sound, awesome instrumentation,. He hardly plated anything from new album. Lacks stage presence. Audience was boring and no participation, The Experince was not memorable.

    Best show this year

by Kbaums on 11/6/13Birchmere - Alexandria

I really enjoyed the show. This is the 2nd time seeing the band perform . I would go and see them as often as possible. I love when they brought out the surprise guest. Wish it was the people from the album.

    Enough with the auto-tune!

by Anonymous on 11/6/13Birchmere - Alexandria

I really enjoyed the band, but there was too much auto-tune. I would have enjoyed it much better they added a singer for most of the songs in place of the auto-tune.

    Would definitely see them again

by DreWins on 11/6/13Birchmere - Alexandria

I have been enjoying the band's music for a while but this was my first time hearing them live. Robert Glasper is very personable and silly and deflates the "seriousness" that can be perceived at a jazz concert. All the members play exceptionally well, you get completely sucked into their music.

    Glasper always delivers

by Fellah on 11/6/13Birchmere - Alexandria

Excellent show! Top notch musicians. Great interaction with audience. Plays what audience wants to hear as well as giving some of him and exposing the bands true artistry and musicianship.

    EVERY song is auto tuned!

by Anonymous on 6/27/13The Horseshoe Tavern - Toronto

No sound check, it seems, since they were still adjusting the sound during the encore and the bass drum rattled the stage every second all night long and that was not the case at this venue for other shows. But more importantly, every single song has auto tuned/vocoder vocals. Vocoder is a sound effect--not an instrument! Either hire a singer or use the vocoder sparingly--as the effect it is intended to be. Casey is a good sax player, but Glasper needs to rethink the use of Casey's auto tuned/vocoder on every single song. Casey only played sax on two songs the whole night, while the vocoder was used on every single song. And Glasper is a bit full of himself. Maybe he was this way before winning the Grammy (I don't know), but he is certainly this way now. I appreciate the goals of Glasper's neo-soul updated version of Gaye's I Want You and Stevie's Songs In the Key of Life, but it isn't exactly new or experiment(al). The live show should be much much much better.

    A Do Not Miss Opportunity

by RBtheBrave on 10/28/12Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

If you happen to see that THE Robert Glasper is headed your way, don't miss it. Anyone with ears can appreciate the surplus of talent RG brings to the stage. You will never see more display of musical range than what you will see at one of these performances. Don't think that you've heard it all just because you have the CD, because you have really just begun.

    The future of Jazz

by Msflca on 10/27/12Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

Robert Glasper is an artist that all jazz, soul and hip hop music aficionados must see in concert. He is a pleasure to watch and his comedic timing is on point. Glasper played much of Black Radio's tracks. Added bonuses included the Experiment's drummer Mark Colenberg and the amazing Casey Benjamín on the vocoder. To see Common join the stage with an unforgettable freestyle, was the icing on the cake. I highly recommend this concert!

    Hypothesis Proven

by Anonymous on 10/27/12Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

My only complaint is that I didn't want the show to end. Every act was great. Robert Glasper and company were phenomenal. Plus Common dropped some of his lyrical dopeness. When you are at a show that is ranging from covering Sade to Slum Village to Outkast to Nirvana...need I even say more to get you to go? If the answer is yes, you're not ready.

    Glasper is the truth

by blklion339 on 10/27/12Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

The concert was sick! Glasper is an emerging force in the vine of great jazz artists such as Hancock, Roy Ayers, Lyle Mays, but with that new flavor.

Jose James and Taylor Mcferrin !!!

by Zardozo on 10/27/12Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

Austin Peralta was an odd choice to start of the night. Taylor Mcferrin really turned on the lights and caught the attention of the audience, preparing them for a celebration of heart and soul with Jose James. It all seemed to be getting better and better until Glasper and his "Experiment" came on after a long break. Sadly, it felt like things did not come together well for Glasper. The instruments, sound and lighting were off and he was affected by it. Put that together with a bigger than normal ego and possibly too much alcohol ? Well, that's not a good recipe. It was by far, the worst performance of the night. Albeit Glasper being a highly gifted pianist, the experiment, sadly, had failed. It was still worth going for James and Mcferrin. If not for them I would have wanted my money back.

Robert Glasper is doing something new and exciting

by findbrian on 10/27/12Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

I just discovered Robert Glasper about a month ago and have been listening to the album Black Radio ever since. The show lived up to the album. Although not illuminated by the lighting, Robert Glasper had a great stage presence and the guy with the red mohawk is an amazing musician.
