Had a great, comfortable seat in the balcony. Aging though appreciative and respectful crowd filled every seat (as I would absolutely expect to see a R&R icon). Great that these artists start right on time, especially due to the curfews in the burbs of NJ. That's three hours of entertainment for a reasonable price. Leslie West can still play, and I'm glad that he still sings his own songs and after all the wear his voice and fingers are still strong. Robby and his band do a great show. Doors songs, especially the many that Robby wrote are among the greatest ever written and performed live. Robby's son on vocals offered a great voice. Respectful to Jim's legacy - I did not feel like he was playing tribute - more like honoring the way Jim sang and intonated, minus the attempt at Jim's wild stage antics. Would be disrespectful and cheap for him to try. Keyboards as well - very respectful of Ray, though infused his own sound and style. Drumming and bass were precisely as they should be, though of course we're reminded that Ray was the bass as well which was an unrepeatable feat and genius. Not at all disappointed but a little confused why we had the pleasure of Carmine Apice playing drums on Back Door Man (only). Does Carmine live in Englewood or something?
The entire band was a great compliment to Robby's playing and easily taking us to as close to a Doors concert as we can get, minus Jim, Ray and John of course. I am very thankful that Robby still performs and takes good care of himself. He will forever be a major contributor to the greatest music there will ever be. Unforgettable and indispensable.
