Rob Lowe On Tour

Whose life is full of juicier stories than Rob Lowe? Hardly anybody. So when he released his 2011 memoir, 'Stories I Only Tell My Friends,' it naturally became a bestseller. Unsurprisingly, so did his 2014 follow-up, 'Love Life.' So in 2017, Lowe started taking his stories straight to the public, unloading those anecdotes in a live, spoken-word show.

The veteran actor has said that he looks at the show like a concert by a band that brings out both the hits and the deep cuts. In the case of Lowe's career, the "hits" include tales about his experiences in Brat Pack classics like 'St. Elmo's Fire' and beloved TV series like 'The West Wing' and 'Parks and Recreation.' The "deep cuts" mean stories about playing Liberace's plastic surgeon in HBO's 'Behind the Candelabra' and the most charming sociopath you'll ever meet in cult film 'Bad Influence.'

According to Lowe himself, the longest relationship he's ever really had has been the one he shares with his fans, so he saw the creation of 'Stories I Only Tell My Friends Live' as the perfect way to make that connection even more intimate and give a little something back.

Rob Lowe Background

With his photogenic looks, it's not surprising that Rob Lowe started his career as a quintessential teen heartthrob, thanks to his work in 1980s films like 'The Outsiders' and 'St. Elmo's Fire.' The latter also earned him renown as part of Hollywood's so-called Brat Pack alongside the likes of Emilio Estevez and Demi Moore.

But it didn't take long for Lowe to show his gifts for comedy and serious drama. From his work in comedic classic 'Wayne's World' to his deliciously villainous turn in 'Bad Influence,' not to mention his long-running roles in TV milestones 'The West Wing' and 'Parks and Recreation,' Lowe has proven his wide-ranging talents many times over.

OMGOSH!! I took my sister as a Birthday gift and we had a BLAST!! We both relived LOTS of 80’s moment through Rob’s stories and both felt that we were among “friends”! I really like this venue, been to several events and concerts there, nice and personal . . . PLUS, I won a TV! 😁😉👍🏻

    Rob Lowe was great!

by Pepper's Mom on 12/7/21Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - Cabazon

The show was really good - Rob is funny, an excellent story teller and very easy on the eyes. The venue is a different story. Did not like sitting on a conference room chair packed in like sardines. When you look at the venue on line it appears to be stadium type seating much like I have enjoyed at Pechanga and Aqua Caliente. This is just a flat conference room floor with less space between seats than a typical airline offers. No place for a handbag or a drink.

    Funny, entertaining

by Coco on 12/7/21Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - Cabazon

I am a huge Rob Lowe fan, however if you are not a fan you will still enjoy this show because his stories are fun, entertaining and he’s a great storyteller. Rob is relatable, down to earth and draws you in with his sense of humor, & his love for his family. I don’t know how he does it; talk about himself in a way that is humble and gracious but also gives you all the “Lowe” down! A must see!

    Just terrible

    by T. on 3/6/20

You guys this is the second time Rob Lowe has cancelled his event when I was coming to see him. I already bought my ticket (my money was refunded). Today I was supposed to see him in Mississippi and his event got canceled the day of instead of a couple days before we drove all the way to Mississippi. PLUS me and my family drove 9 hours to Mississippi to come and see him. The last time it happened it was in Dallas, TX and he canceled it due to “unforeseen scheduling” Never again will I do this again.

    Great Show! Don't Buy VIP

    by Hudson on 2/18/20

Having been a Rob Lowe fan since I was a kid, I was extremely excited to see him live. My girlfriend spent a lot of money on the VIP tickets for the Planet Hollywood show in Las Vegas, so I brought my copies of Stories I Only Tell My Friends and Love Life to have them autographed. When we were escorted into the picture area, his handlers said we couldn't get any autographs then ushered us in for a quick picture with Rob and that was it. The show was great, but for all the extra money spent on VIP, all I got was a picture and couldn't even get my books autographed, so that was disappointing.

The show was amazing. Paid for meet and greet, not worth it. Only allowed to take a picture, less than a minute. Paid almost $1,100 and not even an autograph

by LV on 2/18/20Criss Angel Theater at Planet Hollywood - Las Vegas

Enjoyed the show very much. Quite witty and not overrun with foul language. The venue was horrible. Arrived in plenty of time for the show, but the valet was closed. Drove around the parking garage for an hour trying to find a parking space. Finally got to the theater and admission was only electronic. The app would not load so I had to get a printed ticket. There was a bag check and security pat down way more thorough than the airport. Ended up missing the first 12 minutes of the show. I will not attend anything at Planet Hollywood again.

    Great experience

    by c. s. on 11/12/19Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand Oaks

Rob Lowe did a terrific job telling his different experiences in Hollywood. He kept you laughing and yet touched on some humbling moments. Loved the videos he showed. I felt the audience truly enjoyed the evening. Looking at people's faces during the event you could tell they were having fun. The meet and greet was a wonderful experience. Meeting Rob and seeing how down to earth he was made it special. He did not disappoint. I highly recommend his show.

A Great Evening, Full of Warmth and Laughter

by Sarah B. on 11/12/19Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand Oaks

Despite growing up during the Brat Pack, Parks and Rec is the show that made me a true Rob Lowe fan. When a friend told me how great his live show was, we decided to go see it. It was fantastic! He shared hilarious stories from throughout his life. His self-deprecating approach was warm and sincere, and he gave wonderful insights into career and life milestones. You don't have to be a big Rob Lowe fan to appreciate the show, but I guarantee he'll win you over by the end!

    A Really Entertaining Evening

by Paul B. on 11/12/19Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand Oaks

We had no idea what to expect. I mean sure, we expected to hear him tell stories about his life and career. It really felt like we were hanging out with him and he was telling stories. Obviously, the bulk of it was prepared but it didn't feel prepared. And, even when he took questions from the audience, the answers and stories were just as entertaining as the prepared material. You got the feeling he could have gone for another hour at least. He seems like a really nice man. A really different and enjoyable evening.

    Rob Lowe - Interesting

by billyjack17 on 11/12/19Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand Oaks

First, we had seats about 6 rows back near an aisle. Not the biggest fan of the venue lower seating is long rows with no aisles down the middle, we were able to see fine. Rob Lowe himself was interesting. He told some stories about his childhood and growing up and took questions from the crowd.

    Great show!

by Allicat5 on 11/12/19Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand Oaks

If you have ever liked Rob Lowe (and I have had a crush on him since 1989), you should see this show. He is much funnier than expected and if you have read his book, he is much funnier than he is in the book. Plus, you could just stare at him for 1.5 hours. You won't be disappointed. He has a million dollar smile.

Rob Lowe Stories I only tell my friends.

by Anonymous on 5/21/18State Theatre - Minneapolis

This was Rob Lowe at this finest. Who knew he was so funny and could do impressions. Just like a lot of us we grew up with the rat pack. It was fun to remember the movies that Rob was in. It was also nice to see a different side of him. How he got started and some of things that happened to him along the way. I was glad that at the last minute I was able to catch his act here in Minneapolis. My only regret is, no hearing about it sooner, so I could have gotten the VIP tickets. I hope that he comes back to Minnesota again. I would see this show again. He had us all laughing throughout the whole show. Absolutely loved the show and I have already highly recommended to everyone I know. 10 Stars!!! Great show Rob Lowe!!! "Epic"
