    Long Lines

by Anonymous on 4/16/24Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

This review is for people wanting to go to this event to get things signed. If your hoping to get more then 2 people to sign your stuff forget it. I was in line for 4 hours just to get one person to sign. There is a lot of improvement needed for this event. Possibly selling fewer tickets or limiting the amount of items each person can get signed. VIPs make the long waits even longer. Pay for vip if there is someone you really want or just settle for one person. I’d recommend bringing someone with you to be able to switch off and hold spots in lines. Maybe a small chair to sit in because you will be standing atleast 4 hours. Try to get there super early and have a plan of who’s line to get in first that you really want. Maybe have multiple people come with you and each person gets in different lines for signatures. Make sure you eat before unless you want to be spending on concessions. Drink minimal fluids so you don’t have to leave your spot in line to use the restroom or have someone with you. Bring a bag or something that is convenient for you to carry your items to get signed. The parking situation was bad as well a lot of construction going on. Over all I only got 2 people to sign things and had to let the rest go. Lines were so long that there was no guarantee I would even get another signature and by then I was ready to sit down and get something to eat. Left around 3 once I realized my feet were hurting and I was hungry and not willing to stand in another line for anywhere near that long for nothing.

    first con was awesome

    by missess on 4/16/24

This was my first big anime related con and it was amazing! My wife and I truly enjoyed this con we drove 7 hour to get here and was not let down. We did get VIP tickets which was well worth it and we definitely plan on coming back next year. (the only negative thing i have to say is i wish all the voice actors would go by the schedule that is posted not there own. Colleen and Tia were there very early and got to signing so there lines moved well compared to some of the others.) But all in all was very fun friendly and we will be bringing our kids next year with us.

    Worst time ever

    by My Name on 4/14/24

Got there at 10 and waited 4 hours for one signature. Then waited for another 5 hours for another but never got it because it was too late. The lines were horrible and the vip line was whack. They let 10 vip per 1 normal person. The vip were mainly people with wagons of like 15-20 pops to be sign. I get it but the vip pass. But when it’s sold out it ruins all the fun for the normal person. Couldn’t even look at the vendors cause my knees were getting blown out standing in the same spot for hours. DO BETTER

One of the most disorganized cons I’ve ever been to

    by Liv on 4/14/24

I have gone to plenty of cons in the last 4 years and of course not all cons will be perfect but this has been by far the worst con I have ever experienced. The people there were great as for VAs and the community but the organization was terrible and unfair. We had gotten into line around 2:40 and didn’t get to meet Bryce Papenbrook until around 9 (mind you the convention closes at 7). When in line, the lines were very dysfunctional and had no correlation. When 3 lines were formed the other 2 lines were moving faster than ours and we were the 2nd line. After they finally realized our line wasn’t moving they tried moving lines AGAIN where we placed in the very back after waiting already 2 hours in line while people who got there later than us, maybe waiting an hour or 30 minutes, got put ahead of us. Truly such an unfair experience and I’m just grateful that Bryce stuck it till the end to meet us people who were at the very end of the line as well as the people we spoke to while waiting those 6 hours. Will not be going back next year, would not recommend.

    Amazing con for signatures

    by Alarmico on 1/31/24

My best friend and I went last year and will be going this year too. It's an amazing con for signatures. We were able to get signatures from everyone we want and they signed everything we had. The more popular VA will have a longer line, but that's with any con so you have to be prepared to wait or have VIP pass. It was small but nice, and the prices were good too.

There Were Some Pros, but Also Cons

    by S. M. on 8/9/23

So, there was a huge problem with the autographs, and having some of the biggest name voice actors all at once wasn’t the best idea for their first con. I was only able to get two autographs because I got lucky enough to snag two VAs who weren’t as popular compared to the rest. The cosplay contest could have been better organized and better judged (costumes weren’t closely inspected and the whole contest was 30+ minutes for kids and adults), and the number of people could have been reduced. There was more interest in numbers of people over realistic expectations in time. I felt bad for the VAs who were stretched so thin. There were people with 20+ funks getting signed, etc etc. Now for their first con, it was okay, and I hope they learned from 2023 and better access who and how many people are there. Also, there wasn’t any posted “Cosplay is not Consent” anywhere, if there was it wasn’t implemented, I had four people come right up to me and touch me cause of the character I was. It wasn’t safe for me or anyone else. As a cosplayer that is the number one rule that must be followed. I enjoyed the panels they had, but time management was definitely lacking.

    Very Fun!

by Allison on 4/22/23Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

My friend convinced me to get a VIP ticket and it was very worth it. We got to say hi to everyone on our list. They had a pretty neat assortment of vendors. And things seemed pretty well handled, especially considering it was the first one. I do kinda wish there were a couple more panels. Or that each panel was a little bit longer. But also this is my first ever con, so I’m not sure what the norm is.

What I though of Riverwalk anime

by Sansama on 4/19/23Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

It was pretty good. Just wish they would have had chairs for the really long voice actors autographs because sitting on the floor was uncomfortable. Also more dealers in the dealers room because I am tired of fuko pops they really need to stop selling those so many dealers had fuko pops and just dont really want to see those I rather see more anime figures!!!!

    Never Coming Back

by Mike on 4/19/23Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

Got in line as they were still lying tape on the floor (10:05 am) and waited in line FIVE hours before Chris Sabat went to lunch. He prioritized VIP over us and gave no limits to signing Funk Pops. He never acknowledged us the entire time and because of this we never got to see him or anyone else. 0/10 Do not go!

    It was so much fun!!

by Stormi on 4/19/23Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

I had a lot of fun! There were so many cool vendors and cosplayers to see. The voice actor line up was sick! I couldn’t even get to meet all of them sadly.

Finally a good comic con for anime

by Z on 4/19/23Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

Being that this is the first one it was awesome! So many great voice actors and in a space with room to walk. The lines could be handled a bit differently but with VIP it wasnt an issue. Looking forward to next years!!

    Not worth it

by Lily on 4/19/23Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

We went on Sunday and did not see any of the actors that were said to be there from Game of Thrones. The line to meet the voice actor from Dragon Ball was long and no times were given for anything. It felt like it was more of a swap meet.

    Absolutely Stellar!

by Foster on 4/19/23Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

For A First Year Con, They Knew What They Were Doing! I Have Been To Many Cons Across Oklahoma And Texas, And Many First Year Cons Don't Have It As Put Together As Riverwalk Anime Did! Not Only That, But For The Most Part, The Lines Were Handled Well And Moved Relatively Quickly, Both To Get Tickets, And To Meet Guests! Speaking Of Guests, Riverwalk Anime Had Great Guests Who Were Always Incredibly Nice, And Were Patient And Understanding! I Could Not Ask For A Better Experience At All, And I'm Highly Considering Returning Next Year!

    Disappointed

by Aj on 4/19/23Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

It wasn’t worth purchasing my 2 day pass because I finished looking at all the booths in about an hour. There was no real diversity between the booths it really should’ve just been called a funko pop convention.
