It was alright but long lines to see voice actors

by Otaku dude on 4/22/24Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

The con was alright but my goodness so many of those darn fuko pops this is an anime con which means they should have been selling more anime figures or at least anime Blu rays. Also lines to see voice actors were dang long and it was hard to get around it was a mess I don't enjoy bumping into people. Y'all should have had the Goku and Vegeta voice actors in another part where it would not get crowded.

    Unsatisfied…….But There’s Hope!

    by HtxBalla on 4/18/24

For VIP $150 (not including TAXES) all you received was a Bag, Print and a Lanyard. (Not including the perks) Just felt so indolent, feel like we could of received more items, maybe even throw in that $20 dollar shirt for free next time or give like a percentage off of all vendors (Not VA) or exclusive pins, badges, bottles, pens, stickers. The possibilities are endless with the things you can include, up the price if you have too. We all know you’ll sell out either way (: , I’ve seen other events that make the VIPs worth the price, and have better experience at the end of the day the important thing is insuring the client has the best experience and receives the best service so that they will come again next year pockets full.

Amazing! But With one big issue

by Foster (Simpai.Cos) on 4/18/24Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

I Had So Much Fun My Second Year Of Riverwalk Anime! I Got To meet a few of my favorite voice actors, and catch up with some I had met before. Everyone's cosplays were so amazing, and though I didn't get too many pics this year, I still loved everyone who I did get a picture with/asked to be taken a picture with me. The only real problem I personally had, was that the venue had been double booked, and so a bunch of cheerleader children and parents were running around alongside cosplayers, and I don't have a problem with the con having to share space, you do what you have to do, but it would have been nice to have a heads-up that the convention was double booked so I, and the people I went with had been prepared for having to deal with a bunch of children that were loud, and running all over the place, and getting in many people's way. Again. I do not blame the con for this, it happens, but, again, it would have just been nice to have known what to prepare for, especially since it limited the con space to only one room, a big room, yes, but having also been last year, and to San Japan held at the same venue, the options to go between artist halls and vendors, and other options would have been nice, if the venue had allowed, which it didn't. All that Said, I still had so much fun and met a lot of amazing people and made so many new friends, and with luck I hope to come back next year, and hopefully the con will be the only event in the venue so that we cosplayers can have the space to be ourselves instead of sharing it with hundreds if not thousands of children and their parents. Though I highly recommend Anime Riverwalk if you're on the fence, I say go for it! The lines move relatively quickly and the voice actors are always nice and willing to have a chat, and staff is also extremely helpful and kind. One of my absolute favorite cons of recent and I hope to see a bunch of new faces there next year!!

    Not a good experience

by Greg on 4/16/24Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

We did not have a good experience this year. My son and his friend stood in line for almost 4 hrs to get a autograph from Yuri Lowenthal. It started with the actor not showing up on time, and then they seemed to just keep letting all the VIP people through without giving gen admission no chance to move at all unless the VIP line was empty. My son waited almost 4 hrs and was still not even halfway through the line, and then Yuri had to go to his panel and was told we would have to wait another 45 mins for his return. That is just ridiculous, we didn't have any issues last year we got 2 autographing maybe eaited at most 2 hrs for one actor and 45 mins for the next. We left with no autographs this year and my son was so disappointed as this has become his birthday gift. I understand VIP pays more then gen admission but they shouldn't just completely ignore people in line in general admission. I'm not sure if we will return next year.

    Small venue too many ppl

by TioPadrino on 4/16/24Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

Did not have the best experience as I waited in line for most of the time but they had a great selection of guests which explains the long waits in time. They had a lot of vendors but it’d be great to have more activities for the family and kids as well as food. This conventions focus seems to be mostly on signings.

    Warming up

by Mika alex on 4/16/24Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

This is my first time going and I do have to say it wasn’t what I expected, it was very crowded and only put in one hall for vendors and artist! I feel like kawacon had more space for a weekend event. If it were put in a more spacious area i definitely would have loved it more. But it wasn’t the worst.

    Broke but worth it!!!

by Seanna on 4/16/24Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

I experience at Riverwalk Anime was amazing. All the different vendors were awesome. The lines for some of the voice actors were that bad of a wait while other weren’t that much but of course that’s expected with some of the bigger names in that industry. I got to meet some even though I was so nervous to see them. But I will go again if able to.

    $40 per Autograph?!?!

by Disappointed Mom on 4/16/24Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio

Maybe it is naïveté since this was our first real Anime Con, but charging $40 for an autograph and $20 for a selfy seems extraordinarily expensive. I had two very disappointed 11 year olds who didn’t want to spend their entire budget on a single signature.
