About

Riverdance, as you've never seen it before! A powerful and stirring reinvention of this beloved favorite, celebrated the world over for its Grammy award-winning score and the thrilling energy and passion of its Irish and international dance. Twenty-five years on, composer Bill Whelan has rerecorded his mesmerizing soundtrack while producer Moya Doherty and director John McColgan have completely reimagined the ground-breaking show with innovative and spectacular lighting, projection, stage and costume designs. Immerse yourself in the extraordinary power and grace of its music and dance–beloved by fans of all ages. Fall in love with the magic of Riverdance all over again.

For over 25 years, nothing has carried the energy, the sensuality and the spectacle of Riverdance.

Riverdance began its journey as the interval act in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, produced for television by Moya Doherty. This electrifying and innovative seven minute dance piece was then developed into a full-length stage show by Producer Moya Doherty, Composer Bill Whelan and Director John McColgan. With its fusion of Irish and International music and dance, the show broke all box office records during its world première run in Dublin in early 1995. When the show transferred to London the reaction was unprecedented. There followed a hugely successful tour starting in New York in March 1996, where 8 sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall heralded the start of two decades of touring by Riverdance companies throughout North America. Since its inception Riverdance has packed theatres throughout North America, Oceania, Asia, Europe, South Africa and South America.

Single person In otherwise empty balcony

Love the Chicago theatre experience! Love Riverdance! No love for the two different dance acts. Should have stayed home. I should have rented the original show.

So synchronized. I loved the variation of soft shoe and hard shoe. The live musicians were amazing. Family friendly and energetic performance.

    Fantastic!

by JoJo on 2/7/20Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I took my adult daughter for her birthday. We had seen the show in Chicago many years ago. Most of it was reminiscent of that wonderful night. I enjoyed watching the "Flamenco" and "tap" competition again. The Irish have a beautiful, colorful history. Thank you Riverdance Company!!

We are more similar than we are different!

by Amanda on 2/7/20Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I first went to see Riverdance 20 years ago. What a fabulous re-make this was with the latest technology only adding to the experience. As a Scot living in the US for the last 24 years, the hole the show exposed in my soul, is an illustration of how it connects with the audience. And the dancing never ceases to amaze me. As we are a society more divided than ever, I "saw" the mystical message of our connectedness this time, that I did not appreciate before. Highly recommended.

Irish dancing is so engaging!! The instrument solis were fantastic! Tip: first row in Lodge best seats in the house to see everything! My daughter is in Irish dance & she brought a friend who had never seen it - she couldn't take her eyes off the performance! Would go again if it was still in town!

    Politically Correct Riverdance

by AtillaTheHun on 4/15/16Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I've seen Riverdance numerous times; once with Michael Flatley dancing the lead. Last Saturday's production, bore no resemblance at all to the original. There was too much singing, too much sitting, two segments featuring a female flamenco dancer, two segments featuring two black tap dancers, no story line and not enough Irish dancing. The crew when actually dancing, were excellent. The deviation from Michael's vision was abysmal. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

    Great Time to Be Had

by Slasheddie on 4/14/16Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I hadn't seen it in 10-15 years so it was fresh to me. Amazing energy and precision. They mixed up the acts very well to keep it from getting monotonous. It goes by very quickly and is recommended for all ages.

After 20 years, it still works!

by MJinChi on 4/13/16Cadillac Palace - Chicago

This was my third "Riverdance": first was 20 years ago, and there was one about halfway between then and now. The staging and casts continue to change, of course, with no damage and, indeed, some enhancement. The vocal numbers, though, seem to bring the show to an awkward slowdown, unlike the instrumental solos, which keep the feel of the production. Nevertheless, the best of the dancing can make me grin and clap along, and the beginning and ending group numbers always surprise me by driving everything else from my mind, giving me goosebumps and a rush of adrenaline, and nearly bringing me to tears from the power.

    Absolutely amazing!

    by Alohababy28 on 4/13/16Cadillac Palace - Chicago

My husband and I (early 30s) saw Riverdance's 20th anniversary show with my in-laws (in their 60s & 70s), and everyone absolutely loved it! I have seen Riverdance on television a few times, but seeing it in person is a completely different experience. We were all so amazed by the talent on stage! There were more vocal performances than I expected. I'm a big Irish dance fan, so I could have just watched them dance the entire time. We all LOVED the drummer, and the instrumental performances were very entertaining. Our seats were great - view and sound was awesome. My only complaint is that between each act, they would let the latecomers (and there were a TON) scurry to their seats which was very distracting, and blocked our view significantly. My father in law has mobility issues, so these seats were perfect for our group (with the exception of the distracting latecomers).

Once again sat back for a very enjoyable night of music, dance, and even humor. The soloist was amazing. The instrumentalists were so good. And, the dancing was a thrill to watch.

    Spectacular Riverdance

by Eileelou on 4/13/16Cadillac Palace - Chicago

This anniversary revival was every bit as good as the original. My kids were too little to see it when it first came out and I've always wished that they could have. I was so happy they joined me, and they enjoyed it just as much. The dancers were awesome, the singers sounded beautiful and the musicians were superb. It was well worth it.
