About

Ringo Starr on Tour

In 1989, the world's favorite Liverpudlian singer and drummer put together a new kind of touring band that would redefine his solo career as well as make major inroads in the classic rock realm. That was the year Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band played their first tour, with the former Beatle backed by a band full of rock stars in their own right, each taking their own turns in the spotlight to perform their biggest tunes when they weren't busy supporting Ringo. He's kept the band going ever since, and over the years it has included the likes of Joe Walsh, Dr. John, Billy Preston, Peter Frampton, Greg Lake, Sheila E., Billy Squier and Edgar Winter. Not that hearing Ringo perform his solo hits and his tunes from the Fab Four years isn't compelling on its own, but getting a constantly shifting batch of classic rock hits delivered by their originators is an undeniably attractive bonus.

Ringo Starr in Concert

As great a drummer as Ringo Starr is, he was always something more. From the very first Beatles album in 1963, Ringo made it clear that his homespun vocal style and personal charm could come across on record as clearly as his drumming. During his world-changing tenure with The Beatles, he sang lead on some of their most beloved songs, including "With a Little Help From My Friends," "Yellow Submarine" and "Octopus's Garden." Ringo's gift carried over to his solo career too, and in the 1970s he enjoyed a long string of huge solo hits, including "It Don't Come Easy," "Photograph," "You're Sixteen" and "No No Song." Though Ringo also maintained an occasional sideline acting in films and had a run on children's TV shows in the 1980s, he never stopped turning out new material. And when he hit upon the idea of an ever-changing all-star backing band for his tours, including a shifting selection of rock legends singing their own hits as well as backing the boss, Ringo brought a whole new slant to his solo career.

Ringo and the All-Star bandwas terrific but...

by BeckyWest on 7/11/12The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - Hammond

Ringo was great. He had tremendous energy and had chosen great musicians to be the All-Stars but the venue was disgusting. In order to get to the concert you had to walk through the entire casino floor where it appeared that every single person was smoking. I love to have the opportunity to see Ringo but don't think that it should be a health risk. Come on Indiana--ban smoking in all inside facilities.

    Ringo Star

by BigFanz on 7/11/12The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - Hammond

Absolutely awesome!!!! This is the second time we have been fortunate to see Ringo & his All Star Band. After the 1st concert, we were amazed at the show with all the "All Stars". We didn't think it got better than that, until this show.... Todd Rudgren, Mister Mister, Toto, & Santana!!!!! What a line up ...they all were amazing and all played as if they were together for years! We really hope Ringo will grace our presence again in the near future....WE WILL BE THERE!!!! Thank you Ringo....you are a legend.

Like seeing 5 concerts in one

by Kaczie on 7/11/12The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - Hammond

This is the second time I have seen Ringo with an all-star band. After the first concert back in 1997 we realized that if we ever had the opportunity to see Ringo again that we would. The second time was just as incredible as the first. Ringo is a great preformer/entertainer, and the group of all stars he put together were his dream team. We enjoyed the entire concert!

    Ringo and incredible band

by Firstlight on 7/10/12The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - Hammond

The stars accompanying Ringo Starr were incredible in their own right and the night was amazing with the audience on its feet. Ringo has not aged the last 30 years and still rocks the house.

    Ringo was great!!

by RingoFanChicago on 7/10/12The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - Hammond

Ringo looked, sounded and played great. It was sooooo much fun seeing a Beatle play live. Can't imagine why and Beatles' fan would not go to see him. All Star Band was fun, too. The only reason it is not a five star review is that I would have loved to see him play and sing more songs from the Beatles era. For example, he did not play Octopus' Garden.

We Love You Ringo...oh yes we do...

by DRSK52 on 7/10/12The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - Hammond

BRAVO old chap-another really good show!! Thanks for coming to Chicago/Whiting, Indiana and visiting us once again. And each time the show is different because of the band change, always different people who bring their own music to the show. That is what the All Starr Band is all about and it is a great concept Ringo. Who else does that?

Ringo and All Stars give a great performance!

by HatePoorAudio on 7/10/12The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - Hammond

Ringo looks and sounds great, and is a very warm entertainer. It's wonderful to hear his hits, as well as the hits of the various band members, all well-known from their own musical careers. It's too bad that the house sound was poor for the low-end. The bass line melodies were muddy and almost indistinguishable. The kick drum was way too loud and stepped on the bass player throughout the entire show, particularly because for many songs, two drum sets were playing. I cannot understand how "professional" venue audio men can mix so poorly for paying customers. Poor audio definitely hurt my enjoment of these excellent musicians. This is a nice medium-sized venue, and good sound should not be an issue.

Excellent show, Ringo still what it takes!!

by Pearlpassion on 7/10/12The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - Hammond

Very impressive line up backing Ringo Starr at this venue. Every musician was equally talented. Every seat in the house was bird's eye view to the stage. The sound was balanced that you could hear every word or guitar note.

Ringo and the All Stars Never Disappoint!

by cubfan8 on 7/10/12The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - Hammond

I have seen Ringo and various groups of All Star band members and it is always incredible. It's amazing that at 72 Ringo still rocks the house. I never would have thought that could have been possible back in the 60"s when I was buying Meet the Beatles. I think that how good these shows are is a well kept secret. You get the best of Ringo and the best of the bands the All Stars have been with. It was fantastic!!!
