    Not what I expected

by Jackpotwinner on 2/28/17Shea's 710 Theatre - Buffalo

The cast was extremely talented and musically versatile. That was the best part. However, the performance was not what I expected. When I purchased the tickets quite a while ago, my expectation was that this would be a reprise of the "Ring of Fire" performance that toured through Buffalo a few years ago. This is by no means the same, or even similar, performance in any way. Hence, my rating.

    Ring of fire on fire!!

    by Bella318 on 2/28/17Shea's 710 Theatre - Buffalo

It was amazing! Worth every penny! I'm not even a Johnny Cash fan, I bought the tickets as a gift to my boyfriend and left there singing.

    Clapping, Stomping, Singing!

by Anonymous on 2/25/17Shea's 710 Theatre - Buffalo

Even when we weren't invited to sing, we sang our way through the concert from beginning to end. If you love the music of Johnny Cash, its a must see. Unfortunately, unless you know his history, you will pick up very little of his life story and wonderful personality. But the 710 theater remains an outstanding place to enjoy theater.

    Ring of Fire Fizzled

by Stilldanzing on 2/22/17Shea's 710 Theatre - Buffalo

This show was the music of Johnny Cash with some timeline dialog. When I booked this I thought it was more of a play at the Main Sheas Theater. I was not the only one who made the mistake. Two hours of singing became a little boring with the same uncolorful stage set. The female singers were terrific.

    THIS PRODUCTION IS AMAZING

by CashLover on 2/8/17MusicalFare - Amherst

I had the pleasure of seeing THIS production at MusicalFare theater last year. WHAT A SHOW!!!! The other reviews on this site are for different productions of this show. The one that will be appearing at 710 is the same group and same show from MusicalFare. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good time at the theater. The cast is very talented, playing multiple instruments and singing beautiful harmonies. The show is full of energy and fun and by the end of the night I did not want to leave. After the show some of the cast came out and performed in the lobby - bonus!!

    An Average Show

by HugeCCRFan on 6/16/14Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera Cabaret - Pittsburgh

The five cast members, Jay Hitt, Paul Koudousis, Mitch Marois, Jon Rohlf and Nicole Stefonek were very talented. They all sang well and the mastery of musical instruments was very good. It seemed like they all played the guitar, banjo, bass and mandolin at different times throughout the performance. The vocals by Nicole Stefonek were superb. Her rendition of June Carters part in the song "Jackson" was exceptional. While the show included 32 Johnny Cash songs and some stories about him it missed the mark a bit as no one came close to sounding like Johnny Cash, not a single baritone in the cast. The Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera Cabaret is great, intimate venue but this time it hosted an average show.

    Ring of Fire

by RFMJ on 3/10/14El Dorado Casino - Reno

My grandfather and father were Johnny Cash fans for some time. I was too. I did some research on the show before seeing it. Learned that Johnny Cash had a hand in it, gave permission to use his songs, etc., before he died. Some songs were sung a little faster than Johnny or June Carter did. The song selection showed why Johnny is in the County Hall of Fame, Roc-n-Roll Hall of Fame and Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Overall I would recommend the show. The only real shortcoming was no Highwaymen. And at the end, forgot to mention June Carter Cash dying about 6-8 months before Johnny. Got my brother-in-law and his wife to go with us. He's a big rock& roll fan, grew up in the 50s and 60s, like me. didn't like Johnny Cash going in, but did coming out.

Ring of Fire not what was expected.

by jcashfan on 9/28/13Effingham Performance Center - Effingham

I thought the performers were very talented, but the show was often confusing with all the performers portraying Johnny Cash at the same time and consecutively. I love musicals but I did not expect that. I'm sorry also that so many songs were sang by the female cast. This was not representative of Johnny Cash and was disconcerting at times. Again, I do feel the cast is very talented, but this was not the best way to showcase that.

Hard to sit thru without anyone sounding like Johnny Cash. I think he is rolling over in his grave at such injustice.
