  • Another great Riders show

by CampingIsFun on 12/21/10The Ark - Ann ArborRating: 5 out of 5

Even after 33 years of performing the Riders In The Sky never disappoint! The intimate atmosphere of the Ark further enhanced the experience. With this being a late December show they performed a nice mix of their classics as well as several Christmas favorites.

  • Rider In The Sky WA-HOO!!

by AmnesiaOwl on 9/12/10Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - GainesvilleRating: 5 out of 5

We love Riders In The Sky!!! We try to see them any time they're within 100 miles. We Do Not like current Country Music. You don't have to. Riders perform "Cowboy" music. Each member is a fine musician individually, but put them all together and the sound is Outstanding!!! Their harmonies are great, unisons are terrific and their "schtick" is lots of fun. If you've seen them before and hesitate to go again, don't worry about seeing the exact same show as previously enjoyed. They have made enough changes to keep it fresh with repeats to make it cozily familiar. Ranger Doug "The Idol of American Youth", Too Slim, Woody Paul "The King of the Cowboy Fiddlers" and Joey "The CowPolka King" do it "The Cowboy Way"!!!!!!!!!!

  • Riders in the sky was a great show

by Benx on 9/12/10Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - GainesvilleRating: 5 out of 5

This was a good wholesome show that is good for folks af all ages. Sadly I didn't see many kids there and they need to be exposed to this type of entertainment, clean and weell done with out amps or a crazy stage production. This is why other bands come and go and they have been around over 30 years.

From the first moment the show started, I was hooked. The music brought back so many memories from my childhood. As I traveled down memory lane, it was like I was again seeing the Gene Autry movies and hearing lots of songs I loved growing up. Also, it brought back memories of an uncle walking around our home struming his guitar and singing these same songs. I think it is great, clean, family entertainment and I would recommend this show for that reason and because they are great musicians.

The music was wonderful, the selection of songs, the harmony, the comedy and the personality put into the routine! Thanks so very much!

  • These guys are the BEST!!

by JJnet on 4/26/10Pella Opera House - PellaRating: 5 out of 5

These guys are fabulous. Not the first time I've seen them, they are consistently humorous, entertaining, gentlemanly and a real pleasure to listen to. I took two "under (way under) 30's" friends and they loved it as well. Their performances reach across all generations. See them if you can!!

Riders is purported to be one of the 4 best western music groups in the nation today. I've seen 2 of the four and of those 2, and Riders comes in a distant second. They seemed tired and their performance overly rehearsed. There was no spirit or passion. They came across as simply doing a job for a paycheck. Frankly, I was quite disappointed, having heard a much better show, with better vocals, humor and music from a less well-known western music group in Wichita KS only 2 weeks ago. Maybe if I had seen Riders' show 10 or 20 years ago or if I hadn't seen the Wichita group first, my review would be more favorable. Riders did a good show, but it wasn't great.

  • Great music, good laughs!

    by songbird67 on 4/26/10Pella Opera House - PellaRating: 4 out of 5

We really enjoyed this show! Riders in the Sky prove that you don't have to be loud, crude and vulgar to be entertaining. Their vocal harmonies and musicianship are second to none and they throw in a good dose of humor to boot. If you thought great Western music was dead and buried, go see Riders in the Sky and you'll find that it's still alive and well!

  • Rider in the Sky are fantastic

by DesMoinesGuy on 4/26/10Pella Opera House - PellaRating: 5 out of 5

This is the second time I have seen this wonderful group and it was even better than the first time. They are witty and funny, as well as being exceptional musicians. While not everyone enjoys the cowboy music genre, this group makes it a fun experience. It is unfortunate that people with this much talent are not well known outside of a given circle of admirerers. I would urge everyone to see them once to judge for themselves. Many people would go again, once they realized how entertaining it is. It was a very well executed performance; even a couple of minor glitches and a forgotten line were transformed into side splitting humor. A little organ music can go a long way, but had I known how good the guy at the pipe organ was, I would have gotten there much earlier. What a pleasant surprise to hear that before the show started. The age range of patrons seems to be about 5 years to 85 years and they all appeared to enjoy the show. I typically go to soft and classic rock, but plan to see this group whenever they come back to central Iowa.

  • Riders In The Sky - A Good Times Roundup

by TroutLady on 9/28/09Herb Young Community Center - CaryRating: 5 out of 5

As fans of old Westerns and a love for the Cowboy Singing Stars of yesteryear [Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Herb Jeff]ries] my husband and I couldn't believe our luck when we found an announcment saying the Riders In The Sky singing cowboys would be appearing in Cary. Groups can sound great on their recordings and in person be a let down. but that wasn't the case when those four cowhands ambled onto the stage. They were Texas To a T!! Great songs, great harmony, great hats, and great comedy. We were swept back to those thrilling days of yesteryear and enjoyed every minute of it. They sang favorites and requests - then after over two hours of entertaining us - they sat down for autographs and photos!! They could have given less of themselves, but they live by the creed "It's The Cowboy Way..."

  • Riders in the Sky were GREAT!

  • Amazing Performance by Riders In The Sky

by ritsfan4ever on 9/27/09Herb Young Community Center - CaryRating: 5 out of 5

This group is keeping the tradition of cowboy music alive and well in America with a mixture of great music and fun. The incredible musical talents of this group shine time after time. A wonderful night of great music followed by the opportunity to meet the guys and get autographs. They are truly America's Favorite Cowboys!

  • Riders in The Sky is great entertainment!

by Don60 on 9/27/09Herb Young Community Center - CaryRating: 5 out of 5

I gave two tickets to my youngest brother for a birthday present. He and his date really enjoyed the show. My date said that the cowboy music was so much more fun, compared to just country music. I saw Riders in the Sky at Regency Park about ten years ago, so I already knew what a great group we were going to see. An exceptional evening!

  • A Testimony To Longevity

by OKKane on 9/24/09Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Riders In The Sky, for the 1st time in 1978. I have seen them many times since, and they get better with age. It's amazing that Two Slim still does his Varmit Dance as well now as in 1978. Anyone who has not seen the Boys should seek them out before it's too late.

  • Riders In The Sky: Awesome Entertainment

by Wildlifer on 9/24/09Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I'm a big fan of "Riders in the Sky"! I've seen them at the Birchmere in the past and elsewhere. They are entertaining performers. I enjoyed the show immensely. I'll come back again and again for this group.

  • Riders in the Sky was heavenly

Unbelievable talent! Great Humor, Truly a fun night out and worth every penny (dollar)

  • Riders In the Sky was FUN!

by Artemesia on 7/27/09Kimo Theatre - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

As long as these men keep performing, we'll keep going. They are true entertainers, both as musicians and funny characters. I especially liked that their music was fun and melodic. They only did one song about a pathetic, co-dependent, heart-broken loser - and that was more than enough. Too Slim's "rap" and "cook" renditions were great.

  • Riders in the Sky warming up for the Last Roundup

by NarfingThroughMyKLife on 7/27/09Kimo Theatre - AlbuquerqueRating: 4 out of 5

Riders were as musical and funny as ever. The addition of Joey, the Cow-Polka King of the Stomach Steinway is wonderful. For 3 guys who've been together for 31 1/2 years, he adds the musical fill-ins they may have needed, and he sings very well, too. The only downside is that they are getting up in years, which in itself is expected for everyone, and not a problem. However, Woody Paul doesn't dance anymore while playing his fiddle, but neither can I do some of the things I used to do, so chalk it up to an "Oh Well". All-in-all, a very enjoyable evening with some good old boys who can still make you smile all night with their brand of entertainment

  • Excellent

    by Grampa1 on 7/27/09Kimo Theatre - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

Those guys are incredible! One of the best shows we have ever gone to. I enjoyed this better than I can tell you. Well worth the money and a show we will go see again and again! They played to a standing ovation. Their song selection was excellent and very professional. I thought that The Riders were enjoying performing for us as muchn as we enjoyed them. Please bring them back soon.
