Music always lures Ricky Montgomery back. He blames the internet. First a devotee of the Vine underground, and now--nearly a decade and several jobs later--an unexpected hitmaker, the Los Angeles native has spent the last few years trying to reconcile with his artist self. He recently surpassed 1 billion global streams thanks to Platinum indie-pop hits "Mr. Loverman" and "Line Without a Hook." But those songs, written when he was a teen, have come to feel like they were by a whole other person--at least to Ricky. In 2023, we get to meet Rick, a sophomore set that comes seven years later, rich with electro-laced, emo-tinged alt-pop that spins stories about life in all its messy and mundane glory. Ricky's journey fits the bill: a childhood in L.A. interrupted by divorce, an adolescence playing in the basement bands of suburban Missouri, a viral explosion on a soon-to-implode platform, and a brief music career back on the West Coast that sent his songs up the Rock and Alternative charts. That was in 2014, before life intervened and he quit music for good... until the world discovered his sunny, sardonic songs. With millions of social followers and a string of sold-out tours under his belt, Ricky now sets out to document "my long, awkward path toward remembering myself as an artist," he says. "It's been embarrassing and difficult, but also thrilling. It's everything I've ever wanted to do but was too scared to try."

Show was great, performer was great, but the venue was unbearably hot, unbearably crowded, and seemed to be louder than any concert I’ve ever been to. This lead to witnessing at least 4 different people (myself included) to be sick, dehydrated, overwhelmed and overall extremely unwell. I witnessed one girl get kicked out simply for throwing up more than once due to heat. That seemed rather unacceptable and I was surprised at the lack of support from venue staff. At one point the performer had to stop the show to ask for help for an audience member that desperately needed water and was passing out. Again, the show the performer put on was great and if I was only reviewing the performer it would be 5/5. However, I am rather displeased with the atmosphere, staff, and the venue in general for creating such a terrible experience for many concert goers.
Great Venue, had so much fun! Little crowded but close, he was right there.
I’ve been to a lot of concert this year including Travis and doja cat but this one just made me so happy it was a different experience and I loved it so much I didn’t think it would be my favourite concert but it was! I had never heard of his opener before and he was so good I ended up buying his merch.
O H M Y G O D. IT WAS LITERALLY AMAZING AND I LOVED EVERY MOMENT OMG I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVED IT.
Ricky is an incredible entertainer with a great stage presence. He did a lot to involve and interact with the crowd. Plus, the energetic in the crowd was incredible!
Ricky Montgomery is a great artist. Not only that, he's a great performer. The concert was both visually and audibly pleasing, and exceeded my expectations. He really interacted with his audience. There was never a boring moment — he really knows what he's doing and knows how to get the crowd going. His fans are great, too. I got to pass up a drawing I made of Ricky through the crowd and to him which honestly really made my day.
The past two concerts (the front bottoms and Ricky Montgomery) I have had were at the Fillmore and it has been amazing, it’s a very nice venue, very clean, and always a fun time. It’s a small place on the inside But with a bass that shakes the room, it’s every bit worth it.
My first show I've been to and just everything was amazing, amazing venue, an amazing crowd, an amazing opener, and most importantly, Ricky's performance was 1000/10 I would give him more than 5 stars if I could, I was in absolute awe the whole time.
guys i’m so fr i had so much fun here. my #1 favorite concert i’ve been to before. i love the music (obviously) and the stage presence was sooo good i had so much fun i want to go again
Honestly this was my very first concert it was in silver spring maryland and i’ll be honest it’s gotten me excited to go to more concerts i can finally understand why people like the concert scene
The venue wasn’t too small or too big but it was amazing that the view I had was basically barricade and I loved it
I drove six hours to Atlanta and stayed in an expensive hotel just around the corner so my daughter could experience Ricky Montgomery for her sixteenth birthday. I figured I’d sit in the audience, bored out of my mind. Well, that certainly didn’t happen! This was one of the best concerts I’ve ever experienced! Ricky is high energy, his passion for the music was evident in every single note. The crowd absolutely adored him; it was very clear this guy was loved by every person in the building. And a small shoutout to the opening act, Noah Floersch. I’ve put him on my playlist ever since the concert (Ricky was already there). Noah is quite the showman! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a perfect combination of opening act and headliner! In all, I’d DEFINITELY haul my old self another six hours to watch this concert again. It was an unforgettable experience!
One of my favorite shows I’ve ever been to; Ricky sounded absolutely sensational and his stage presence was captivating. I went to his show back in 2022 and had the time of my life, but somehow this show was even better. With a generous setlist and a talented band, this concert was destined for success. I danced like I was on another planet. So, as I sit here writing this review in my merchandise from the show, I am pleased to report that Ricky Montgomery puts on one of the greatest live acts available and that I will be seeing him any time he’s in town. Please come back soon Ricky!
I sat in the “mom” section and had a great time. Ricky exceeded my expectations. He is a talented musician and has a very engaging and entertaining presence on stage. My girls ages (15,14,12) had the best day of their lives. 😄 It was their first concert and they will never forget it. They rode a concert high for the next 24 hours. Unbeknownst to me, we purchased VIP early entry tickets and got to skip the line. We also received a tote bag and first dibs on his merch. I earned some major mom points for that “accident”. We all had a great night. As a mom, I highly recommend seeing Ricky in concert. Thanks for a great night!
Ricky and Noah put on an amazing show! I loved it and hope to see them again! I will say the audience was not in it. I love standing rooms cuz the movement of people in time with the music but aside from the one song Ricky asked us to jump people were just standing there! You gotta move! Dance! Lose yourself! And alot of people there had serious main character syndrome. None of that is rickys or noahs fault i just felt disappointed with the crowd. I did hear alot of people saying it was their first concert so i hope it was just they didnt know or felt nervous or something. Hope they all get better. Loved the show, cant wait till next tour!
This concert was crazy cool and awesome!! I really loved how Montgomery was super interactive and kind to the audience. I definitely recommend people see him in concert because I would totally go again!
Ricky Montgomery put on an awesome show but it wasn’t the type of music that requires standing that long. Seats would have been nice and a shower Becky you go to the club role but that’s just me being an extra stickler and letting people know hygiene is not only for you but for me too!
Ricky is my favorite artist and his concerts are always the best. I particularly enjoyed this time, he was so personable and friendly during the meet and greet and he had so much energy during the concert. The best vibes!!!! Also, White Oak is an awesome venue ;D
Had a blast and met some amazing people ! Come again Ricky!
