Quan, born Dequantes Lamar, pursued a career in professional baseball before turning his attention to music, quickly gaining recognition for a series of street hits that culminated in 2008 underground favorite "Stay Down." Following a brief stint in prison, he emerged more focused than ever, appearing on tracks by Gucci Mane and August Alsina and releasing a series of successful mixtapes that firmly established him as one of rap's most promising rising talents.
