    Big Con Small State

by Day on 11/28/22Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

I have never been that far north before so my group did a day trip to Boston [1 hr away] on Friday. Our Air BNB was down the road from the center. We ate at Julian's and Frisky Fries, both were excellent. The convention itself? Awesome. I went because of the Naruto cast [a firend who wasnt able to go sent me with pops to get them signed]. It was a great success on autographs and merch. The rest of the time i spent getting photos with cosplayers. At one point there were 6 people dressed as Spider-Man in the lobby...yes they did the meme! I would love to go again, pending airfare.

    Good, had a great time

by Joe on 11/13/22Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

There should be more monitoring on the vip, and general public lines . The amica mutual center lines were monitored but the rails kept falling down. The rhode island convention lines upstairs needed help they were putting vip and general admisson together on friday and sat. The show was blast I would definitely come back next year we flew from Virginia to attend the comic con.

    First comic con

by Jeff on 11/11/22Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

First time ever attending a comic con and as a whole it was fun. I wish the times celebrities were available for autographs was posted vs listed as "when at table" since all singers were not together and often one had to try to get from one building to another while fighting crowds in hopes to be there when the celebrity was there. Otherwise, it was a good experience.

My biggest issue was that there was absolutely no mask mandate or vaccination rule put in place. It felt awful to walk around not knowing whether or not the other guests had covid and it felt incredibly illogical not to have a mandatory mask mandate AT LEAST when Anime Boston had such strict mask/vaccination policies in May. Not to mention, tickets were expensive just for a single day, and also i have heard the case of improper handling of a mobility aid device on the part of the security this year.

    Amazing!

by Zöe on 11/10/22Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

From the staff, the policemen directing traffic outside, the vendors, the people directing the line for going into the convention, to celebrities and other guests this was one of the best years that I’ve gone to for Rhode Island comic con. Everything flowed really smoothly and

    challenging

by Cherylannbob on 11/10/22Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

The vendors, cosplay and celebrities were fabulous. However, the PhotoOps were terrible. I waited over an hour past my scheduled time to see Cobia Kai trio and never got to see them and was denied a refund. Also, another photo op was an hour and a half late. The area was extremely crowded and unsafe.

    Amazing Time

by Miss Z on 11/9/22Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

I had an amazing time at Rhode Island ComicCon 2022. Meeting Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, and Elisabeth Shue was a dream come true. All of the fans were also super nice. The costumes were great. It was a bit chaotic with all of the people, but that's to be expected with so many attendees.

    Amazing Comic Con Experience

by RyanW1976 on 11/9/22Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

My wife and I attended the Rhode Island Comic Con for the first time this year. It was the 10th anniversary and it was a FANtastic event! We are huge fans of Supernatural, Cobra Kai, and The Walking Dead. We were able to have professional photo ops and table selfies with so many of our favorite character actors and actresses. All the Celebs were wonderful. Very friendly. We had a couple of very personal experiences with some of them. Mark Sheppard in particular was just an amazing person to meet. He portrayed my wife’s favorite character on Supernatural and he had a very heart felt genuine conversation with her. Just an amazing individual. Rick Worthy (Alpha Vampire) was a big stand out as well. He loves his fans and loves cons and took a ton of time with us. Jared Padalecki was fantastic too! He was so busy with so many fans wanting to see him but you still felt great when meeting him. His photo ops were excellent. He does a ton of spontaneous poses and is just so much fun!! William Zabka was amazing to meet as well. He was also extremely busy with the number of fans wanting to meet him but you didn’t feel rushed when seeing him at all. He did the coolest video ever with us! It’s very obvious that he loves his fans. William Tate and Jake Abel were very cool as well. Meeting Danny Trejo was huge for me personally. He is an inspiration and is such a kind and humble individual! The major standouts for us were the Supernatural cast though. Every one of them that attended; DJ Qualls, Mark Sheppard, Alaina Huffman, Jared Padalecki, Jake Abel, Emily Swallow, Samantha Ferris and Samantha Smith, we’re all amazing. Very down to earth and happy to chat with their fans. The event host was awesome too! We ran into him a number of times and even did a post show interview with him about our experiences. Aside from all the great guests that were there we also found the venue to be excellent. There were multiple large rooms where different groups from celebs to vendors were stationed. It felt spread out enough that one wouldn’t feel like you were being bearded like cattle as you often do at other large cons. We could not have possibly hoped for a better experience and will be loyal attendees of this con going forward!

The absolute BEST smaller sized Comic Con

by Ann on 11/9/22Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

The cosplay is strong here. The local 501 put out a full display of star wars on the 3rd floor with amazing Star Wars character cosplay to take photos with. The attendees go all out with their cosplay, it is just super. Everyone is friendly, just ask to take a photo, ask to put hand on back or shoulder. The venders are great. The panels, wow, I went from panel to panel because there so many I wanted to be at. I have attended this event 3 times now. I now know some folks and look forward to seeing them, as I am from out of state and this is where I see them. The After Party was great. I danced for hours. I simply highly recommend this event. If there is a person or group you want to take a photo op with, it gets done, and that logistic management is very poor though. The photo op lines need improvement.

I got to meet 9 different voices of the naruto cast

by Neri on 11/9/22Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

It was phenomenal. I got to meet over 9 different charachters in addition to finding out other parts they voiced. These included Digimon, Attack on Titan, and even the Sonic movie. I also got to me yandu from Guardians Of The Galaxy and even a couple of the voice actors Dragon Ball Z. 10/10 i'll be there next year.

    Disorganized and Oversold

    by N. L. on 11/9/22Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

An absolute mess. Saturday was one of the worst convention experiences ever. Hours long lines for food and water, told we wouldn’t be allowed back in if we left because of the crowd size. The photo op area was way too small and mismanaged, stood packed shoulder to shoulder like cattle while they ran behind schedule. Got refunds for the photos I pre purchased for Sunday and did not go back.

    Great first Comic Con experience

    by T. F. on 11/9/22Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

Really liked the wide variety of vendors, panels, and experiences. Appreciated that for the most part, the event was family friendly. That said, the pro photo area was mismanaged causing huge delays there and then as a domino effect delaying panels, etc. Plus, there was a crush of people on Saturday, making it difficult to get around. Also, there could have been more food options, and healthy food options.

    Highly disappointed

by CRDad on 11/9/22Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

Bunch of D-list celebrities, no one was there of any worth. The main vendor areas were the same row after row after row, Funko Pop's and custom drawings. Would have been nice to have some diversity instead of just countless vendors selling the same stuff. Wouldn't go back unless they changed the format.

    That was it??

by Jackie on 11/9/22Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

For a big anniversary like the 10th, it was certainly lackluster. No really big celebrity names were announced. The photo op area was the biggest mess I’ve ever seen it. Epic is usually pretty organized, but they were definitely unprepared this year. This leads me to say that there were way too many people there. The crowds this year were almost unmanageable. You could barely move on the main floor of the convention center! Due to photo ops taking forever, panels were pushed back and I had to miss one of the only panels I was looking forward to!
