    Was ok

    by Bob on 8/2/23

It was ALOT smaller than what it was pictured out to be. Also spent $75 on a 2 day pass and went thru everything within the first hour and a half. The autographs were very expensive and for paying that amount of money to get in you would think autographs would be included

Do not waste your money or time!!!!

    by Yoda on 8/2/23

Horrible absolutely horrible. Zero planning. They wouldn't let my pregnant wife sit down. Such little space with hardley and vendors. On top of that did not tell fans that multiple people canceled and would not make it. Not worth it any bit.

    1st time won't be last

by Mom of Anime fan on 8/2/23

This was the first Anime convention my daughters went to and they really truly enjoyed themselves. They are now planning on the next one to go to. I'm the mom and I went along for the new experience. Had a great time myself. They said the RAVE party was great, the DJ was great...... this may have been the first one but it definitely won't be the last..... We are looking forward to going to one of the larger ones either in NY or LA.......

    My opinion

    by The slug on 8/2/23

Was a nice show. Little small but to be expected since it is new. Great guess line up vendors though I thought some of them did not fit there. Like one was selling windows. Really. All in all I would go back. Parking was good, expensive, 20 dollars to park.

    Just ok

    by Dylan on 8/2/23

Very average anime convention. A lot of shops were just selling readily available statues for a marked up price rather than selling rare figures and comics. Hardly any manga was sold at an anime convention which is quite surprising. Josh Seth was the coolest part; super nice guy and was cool have sign my first edition copy of the Wolf Rain’s manga. All in all, the tickets were fairly priced for what was there.

    First ever con!

    by MyVtecc on 8/2/23

I was a bit skeptical only because i had to go alone unfortunately, but it was an amazing experience. Will definitely be going to future cons. Definitely exceeded my expectations

    Too small

    by Katie on 8/1/23

Giving leeway that this was the first year they are holding this. It was small where i could see the whole thing in an hour.

Good but could be a lot better

    by Hydro on 8/1/23

I enjoyed myself at this years anime con but as someone who rarely goes to these events, my expectations aren’t as high as an experienced congoer. Out of the few i went to however, we had more than one floor and one rooms worth of venue up explore so everything wasn’t so clumped together (Artists, Voice actors, Gaming stations, maid cafe, cars and food/drink station, all in one). It felt very underwhelming to circle the con 3 times and have already seen and done everything, why weren’t the other floors or rooms used to split the attractions and make the con feel less cramped and small? Another complaint was the lack of meetups for anime fans, i remember there being only 6-7 listed? and these meetups all happened just outside the one big room in what’s essentially the ‘hallway’ you wait in line in. One big room and one hallway cannot be all there is for your con to split thousands of people, especially when some are looking for specific events or activities while there. I’ll end in saying I was just underwhelmed by the size and experience compared to other cons i’ve went to in the same state or close to. For the first anime con it wasn’t bad, I just hope starting next year a lot of improvements can be made after some honest reviews like this so that planning a weekend at this con can feel worth it.

    Low Production Fun

    by Traci on 8/1/23

I was hoping for more on the programming side, since this is a pretty niche and creative community. The Panels felt like an afterthought, we planned to go to a few but given the location (in the midst of the convention with no enclosure) and the delivery (one person, seemingly without a mic, showing a PowerPoint to the crowd from his laptop) we decided it wasn’t worth it. Same with the maid cafe and gaming area, both were just kind of stiff and bare bones so we skipped it. It would have been nice to have a themed/decorated seating area to enjoy our drinks. Though the gaming area was empty when we took a pit stop, we were asked to leave our bare folding table because we weren’t playing the very complicated games on offer. Would love a deck of cards or tarot deck or something for people who are looking for low key socializing. Hopefully the creative side of this con gets a boost, there’s a lot of potential to keep people engaged longer and more meaningfully.

    Expensive

    by Gizmo on 8/1/23

It was too expensive for what you got I get first year here you didn’t know what to expect but a two day pass I would of did it for 30 bucks and a one day pass for 15 it took us literally an hour to walk around not once but twice it took us longer in line to make an actual purchase than it did to walk around.

    A small yet impressive event!

    by Wildstar100 on 8/1/23

Given this was the first ever anime con in Rhode Island I wasn’t expecting much, however, I was thoroughly surprised. The number of booths and guests was actually quite impressive. I am very much looking forward to the next anime con in Rhode Island.

    it was okay

    by Rin on 8/1/23

For my first convention ever it was the excitement of the people for me. Seeing everyone dressed as iconic characters and how they come to life, to being asked to take pictures of you and being called by your character name that was awesome. A little over priced to get in when you have to pay another $50+bucks (for a basic package) just to take a picture and get a signature from just one of their invited guest/voice actors. Anywhere you try to take a picture or video of something you like or a character you like or just the convention in general, you can't because the picture police is right on your butt telling you there's people signing and you need to pay to get a picture or video of them so put the phone away. Then the prices for plastic or foam swords, or just small items, just a way to blow your money on non authentic items. Idk it was okay really I felt like it was just to over priced and so many rules to just go and enjoy some cool characters and have fun.

One big vending area with cosplay gawking

    by Nick on 8/1/23

I’m admittedly not the target demographic, but my daughter is, and we went together. I was surprised about how small it was. We had completed the terrain in one hour. The giant vending area had a ton of similarities, and for fans of particular shows it is a rush to see lots of cosplayers posing for photos. No care for having a signature from an animator or a voiceover actor who you could bump into at a grocery store and not recognize. Biggest disappointment: only one vendor selling physical copies of actual shows—and this person wasn’t even in anime!! Considering that Crunchyroll had discontinued some episodes of a show that is now OOP, I thought for certain I’d find it here. But not to be. We did attend one of the lectures, I insisted, but was surprised they roped in Scooby Doo and Teen Titans as part of their lecture. Still, my daughter enjoyed it. And it was nice to springboard this to discovering downtown Providence, the RISD Museum, and a non-associated show later that night. I was just surprised that all it was was a giant cosplay gawking station with vendors and that was it.
