    Fun from Start to Finish

by Jezza77 on 8/27/12Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Morrison

It was our first year and we will be back next year. Everyone was so nice and friendly. We were in the parking lot having drinks meeting people. Then when the first band hit the stage I dont think i sat down very much after that.

    Reggae on the Rocks

by LuzdelaLuna on 8/27/12Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Morrison

We loved the roots nature of the line-up. Meditations' harmonies were sweet, Steel Pulse was energizing, tight, together; amazing harmonies. Burning Spear is the revered icon of reggae - and yet, he could follow Steel Pulse with transcendent energy of his own, taking it just one notch higher. Very conscious, peaceful and friendly crowd. The only negative is the cigarette smoke! Red Rocks! Please ban cigarettes!

    Was that really Inner Circle???

    by ALL4DAT on 7/10/12Red Rocks - Denver

I've been going to this concert for the past several years, and it's gone from an all-day event Saturday AND Sunday, to an all-day event ONLY on Saturday, to just an afternoon event on Saturday. Each year it seems there's less and less to get excited about, but this year (2011) Inner Circle was appearing. I saw them the last time they were here, and they rocked the house in a thunderstorm, no less. This time they don't look OR sound anything like the band that sings 'BAD BOYS.' I was so disappointed!!!! I just hope that there will even be a Reggae on the Rocks a few years from now, because this event has definitely seen better days!!!!

    so f'n hot

by dumbledorf on 8/29/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Morrison

My God. I thought I would die from the heat, I had a salt ring around my shirt because I was sweating so much, the music was so, so. I guess it was alright. Def not worth the money IMO. That was my first and last time.

Music was Good, Venue was disappointing!

by Relowe on 8/29/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Morrison

Each year for Reggae on the Rocks there are less and less vendors. This year was a real bummer! Food choices were limited to two choices. We always look forward to buying things and the merchandise was sub par! They all sold the same same Bob Marley t shirts! The music was good, not exciting though and not alot of people. The inside restaurant and bar closed at 5pm! People want to relax and have some food and drinks at an all day event! One tiny area with 4 crummy cocktail tables and 6 chairs for the whole amphitheater just doesn't cut it! It seems to me that whomever was in charge this year considered this concert an afterthought!

Reggae on the rocks was unforgettable!!

by reggaerasta on 8/29/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Morrison

Awesome reggae festival, lived up to my expectations. Only change i would expect would be for them to bring some big name acts like the Marley Sons. Great overall !

mother nature wouldn't dampen our spirits!!!

by impastarasta on 8/29/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Morrison

wow!!! another Reggae on the Rocks on the books. FUN show as usual. very HOT during first part of the day. The clouds rolled in & cooled things off after 3pm...but then came THE WIND!!! It was a horrible, relentless wind which unfortunately ended up closing shop for all the venders @ the top of venue. :( boo thank goodness the wind was SLIGHTLY better down within the seating. All the bands were FANTASTIC!! good vibe. & they REALLY "weathered the storm" :) It was a little sad that the crowd didn't. Can't blame 'em, with 95 degrees most of the day and then really horrible wind whipping @ them the rest. By the time LEGEND Michael Rose came on, the crowd had dwindled, and by the last 10 songs or so, maybe a few hundred remained!! :( too bad.--for THEM-- YAY! for us that stuck it out! everyone moved foward to the first 5 rows and it was very intimate. He played A LOT of Uhuru stuff!! It was a GREAT SHOW! I hope Mr. Rose wasn't too disappointed in the lack of crowd support... because those that were there, LOVED HIM!!!!

Incredible show, needs a bigger headliner. The ticket price a bit high for a family. Can't wait for next year

    Reggae On The Rock 2011

by Ihidrhuh on 8/29/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Morrison

Sub-par..... AT BEST! Inner Circle and Michael Rose were outstanding, as they always are. Marty Dread was surprisingly entertaining. However, the rest of the line-up was mediocre at best. Collie Buddz should have been before Groundation and the Mystic Roots Band and their Fergie wanna be JUST SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN THERE!!! They were horrible. The best way describe them is a very average cover band. Almost the entire set was covers of others' music..... I have attended almost every Reggae on the Rocks since its inception and Bill Blass seems to have real trouble with getting the order of the artist line-up right! I am a true Reggae fan, so I will continue to attend in future years. I just hope the lineups (and the order of appearance) will improve a bit as there are a TON of new and old reggae acts out there that are never brought to perform at the Rocks.... Midnite, Daweh Congo, Pablo Moses, Jah Cure, Linval Thompson just to name a few........

Reggae on the Rocks was unorganized!

by Coffe4urmom on 8/29/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Morrison

Reggae on the Rocks was unorganized! There was no schedule posted online at all and I didn't want to spend 12 hours there. I wanted to see two bands which I missed because they played really early and no one was told who was playing now.

Another Fun Reggae on the Rocks!

by tbonespop on 8/29/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Morrison

Stellar sound and the best venue in the world. Only issue I had with this year's event was that the lineup was weak on 'true' old school performers (no Wailers, no Yellowman, etc.), it was very heavy on a poppy sound this time. The venue was also far from being sold out so either the marketing is not what it needs to be or the lineup this year just wasn't as strong as previous years.

Unbelivable that Groundation played so early

by PRScientist on 8/29/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Morrison

This concert is way too long. I think you guys should post the order of the bands beforehand because the offer was varied and I feel some people go as fans of specific bands. I personally missed Groundation because, to my surprise, they were one of the first bands. At the end of the concert you could tell people was leaving before it was over, they were super tired and were not really Michael Rose fans. I would say it was poorly planned.

    Not too organized

by SunyShel on 8/29/11Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Morrison

The Reggae Fest was not all that organized. It was impossible to get the line up and time online prior to the show and then when we got there we could not find a line up. Also, would really appreciate Red Rocks bringing in Gluten Free beer, food and alcohol choices for those of us that have a gluten allergy. It is always very tough to find anything for a gluten free vegetarian to eat or drink when attending a concert. Too bad the wind blew us out!
