Manzarek & Krieger are 'The DOORS'

by Harv44 on 10/11/09Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

Just one unforgettable show! The band, the music, the vibes, the spirit were unmistakably the DOORS. Manzarek on keyboard and Krieger on guitar, what else would you expect but one helluva show!

    Manzarek & Krieger - AWESOME!

by Goombah on 10/11/09Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

For you true Doors fans who I am sure that their are alot of, what a show! This is everything for you or at least as close as you can get without the big man. If you have never seen them before, you will shake your head in amazement. I have seen Doors cover bands through the years, but with Robby and Ray it is just unbelievable. Sound, showmanship and otherwise. Take the extra steps and see them if you can.

    Half the Doors

by RocknBob on 10/10/09CLUB NOKIA - Los Angeles

Of Course it was a great show with great songs. The Doors don't have a bad song. I only wish they would have done more songs. But they only have so much time. I have to say though, that when I saw Robbie solo with the band called Particle last year, it was a much better show. They did a lot more great songs like "Celebration of a Lizard", "Lost Little Girl", "Strange Daze". They were also a little sloppy this time but it was still great to hear the legends that are Robbie and Ray. I would go see them again because I love the Doors. Of course nobody can match Jim so you go to hear the songs and the music, try to ignore the lead singer.

    Manzarek and Krieger worked it!!!

by lagourme on 10/10/09Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

The show was well worth it to see two of the Doors- the legends! They were in top form and obviously loved the performance. They played two hours and covered alot of territory. The lead singer has a great voice, doesn't sound exactly like Morrison but I'd say his voice is just as good. He hits all the highs and lows and does a great job. Well worth seeing.

    Next Best Thing!!!!!

by Rotguts on 10/10/09Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

If you were not old enough or happened to miss the original Doors in concert way back when, then this is the next best thing. I say 2 of the original Doors are better than none. Krieger was amazing showing he could still rock with the best of them. Manzarek was right on the mark too with his skills not diminished. The vocals were reminiscent of Morrison, but with their own character. Overall the concert rocked, venue was great, food good and drinks well poured. I glad I did not miss this one. Can't wait for another concert in the future.

    The Doors have it!

by CyEmeLA on 10/7/09CLUB NOKIA - Los Angeles

Last time I saw Ray Manzarek he performed a night of poetry and stories at a small theatre in Oregon and did not have Robbie Krieger with him. On Tuesday night at Club Nokia, Mr. Manzarek and Mr. Krieger played like living rock legends with their chemistry intact. Although they did not perform any poetry pieces, they still played a great lineup of the hits that made them world famous. This performance, compared to my last experience, was a concert. The band did a great job of complementing the headliners. Another interesting thing, a painter in the background did psychedelic paintings throughout the show. It added a multi-media aspect that made me think of Hunter S. Thompson and Ralph Steadman. At the show, they announced the release of a new Door’s documentary called When You’re Strange, narrated by Johnny Depp. The movie will include great footage from the vault like clips from their UCLA film school days, looking forward to that. The audience at Club Nokia for this show included a wide age range from around six to 80. The family atmosphere added to the comfort level at this wonderful venue. I forget the name of the opening band, only that the singers name was Pearl and that they played an acoustic set. Pearl belted out songs like Janis Joplin, with a scowl, and feminine rage. All in all, I truly enjoyed my time at Club Nokia for this event. Thank you.

    The Doors rocked Club Nokia!

by HarborCityMark on 10/7/09CLUB NOKIA - Los Angeles

Amazing amount of energy, awesome stage presence, the Doors are still a wonderful band to see live! Bands with this type of organic creativity are rare this day and age, and I will gladly continue to see this band of reformed Doors in concert anyday. They can call the band whatever they choose, but with Ray hammering away on keyboards and with Robby jamming hard to the Doors hits, they will always be the Doors to me! John Densmore can throw whatever lawyers and legal challenges to them that he wants, but he is missing out on playing with the greatest musicans in the world bar none!

    THE SHOW WAS ABSOLUTELY PHENOMINAL

by JIM1975 on 10/7/09CLUB NOKIA - Los Angeles

IT WAS AN ABSOLUTEY GREAT SHOW. CLUB NOKIA ROCKS. IT IS SUCH A COOL PLACE TO WATCH ANYONE PERFORM THE MANZEREK KRIEGER SHOW WAS STUPENDIOUS. IT WAS MY FIRST TIME EVER WATCH THEM PERFORM AND THEY BLEW ME AWAY. TY DENNIS IS AN EXCEPTIONAL DRUMMER AND I THINK ROBBY AND RAY MADE A GOOD DECISION IN KEEPING HIM FOR THE BAND. HIS DRUMS JUST MESMERIZED ME WITH HIS BEATS THAT SOUNDED JUST LIKE JIM WOULD OF LIKED, OUT OF THIS WORLD. OVERALL IT WAS A GOOD EXPERIENCE. PARKING WAS NOT BAD AT ALL CONSIDERING THERE WAS AN EVENT AT STAPLES AND THE NOKIA THEATER. AGAIN IT WAS A BLAST AND WOULD RECOMMENED ANYONE TO VISIT L.A. LIVE AND IT'S SURROUNDING VENUES. THE DOORS STILL LIVE ON!!!

    Awesome Doors show

by VCC1 on 10/7/09CLUB NOKIA - Los Angeles

The show was awesome--my husband and I loved it. While Jim and John D. were missed, the drummer was excellent, as was the singer. They played excellent songs that spanned the Doors career, and they sounded almost identical to their albums and older shows. I would really recommend this show to any Doors fan! A must see!
