Perfect venue.unfortunately, the last band play set was shortened, due to the partrons fighting. Also, the change over from band to band, was very slow. Would NOT Patronize another Go-Go. One more issue ,DJ Rico remarks about women were very disrespectful.

by GwenieinDC on 1/20/16Howard Theatre - WashingtonOverall we enjoyed ourselves tremendously on Sat night! Howard Theater Staff was good, as we arrived early to secure good first-come first-serve seats. Plenty of people in line and excited to see the show. Local DJ Dirty Ricco started Party on good note (great music, calling out to the crowd, and checkin on "Up-Top Balcony" Crew)...Could have done away with all of the profanity as the night progressed. Junk Yard was Perfect, good stage presence, enthusiastic and hyped, "cranked" the entire performance!; EU w/Sugar Bear was OK, more older cats, not as impressed. They tried to bring their best! Rare Essence brought in everyone, a few "old-heads" from the beginning "DC, & Scotty". They started a little flat, but Jas Funk and the Crew kicked in to high gear mid-way through their performance! My visiting guest from Jacksonville, Fl thought the night was a Blast and so did I!!!!

by hoos30 on 4/20/15The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver SpringShow started an hour late. Then we got 1 hour of Trouble Funk, followed by a half hour set change. Then a whole 30 minutes of Rare Essence until....lights out, show's over. I think they should have given their hometown and biggest fans much greater value than they did.

by BigNice013 on 1/29/15Howard Theatre - WashingtonThis show was crazy. Go-go the way it was meant to be! My first time at Howard Theatre, and it was tremendous. Atmosphere was great. We need this a couple of times a year. Nice mature crowd.
Rating: 5 out of 5 The Ultimate Go-Go Experience for the Newbie
by TrueVoiceofReason on 1/21/15Howard Theatre - WashingtonAs a long-time go-go girl, I used to see these bands back in 1979 through parts of the early 80's at the Howard and other venues around the city. Seeing Rare Essence and Trouble together brought back a lot of memories, except I now see what inflation really means! We could pay $5.00, see about six bands from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. The best part of this particular night was that I made a convert. A friend of mine who is not from the area (Flint, MI) could not understand my LOVE for this music. So, this event was a way to introduce her to true, unadulterated go-go music; no dee-jays, no light shows to hide behind but TRUE MUSICIANS that have honed mastery of their chosen instruments. I made a believer of out of her at this event. She now GETS IT!!! My job is complete. Everyone was on their feet all night, the way it should be and the way it always was. If you don't get it, you just don't get it!! As far as the venue, I love, but the drinks are a bit pricey ... $13.00 for Absolut and Soda -- REALLY?????
Rating: 5 out of 5by Corporateconcertgoer on 1/21/15Howard Theatre - Washington Great show!!!! Hope these two bands decide to perform together more.

Rating: 4 out of 5by Anonymous on 1/1/14Howard Theatre - Washington The show was amazing no complaints about anything. Would not Change anything about the Howard Theatre. The bathroom was clean and well stock. enough space on the dance floor as well as the event overall. It is a beautiful place inside and out.

by GwenieinDC on 11/13/13Howard Theatre - WashingtonWell, Good to see that Go-Go is still alive in DC. Even after the Death of "Footz, Lil Benny and Chuck". Went to HS with RE, and I bet its been at least 25 yrs since I've seen most of those cats. Of course the faces have changed over the years, but the love of Go-Go still remains the same. I'm 52 and I went with 2 of my girls from HS, whom I've been friends with for over 30 yrs. We took a chance since it was Veterans Day on Monday, and took a walk back down memory lane. It was so funny to see all the different Go-Gonites. Some a lil younger, some a lot older, but everyone enjoying themselves. The Old-Schoolers "Big Tony, Jas Funk, and Whiteboy" brougt back so many memories for me. Event started a lil late and place was packed (too many people if you ask me, but I'm old, so what do I know? :) All and all, it was well worth it to attend. Both Acts were good, however, I enjoyed RE the most, since those are my alumni's!
