  • Ramsey Lewis was Fantastic in Niagara Falls

by Gailb1 on 9/17/12Bears Den At Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel - Niagara FallsRating: 5 out of 5

The concert at Seneca Niagara Casino on Sept. 15,2012 was phenomenal ! He was amazing, his band was off the hook! So talented. The facility is very nice, it was an intimate setting with other jazz enthusiasts. I really am happy that I attended.

  • Ramsey Lewis

48 years ago, I watched jazz on Broadway in San Francisco, every weekend. Back then, it was cocktails & cigarettes, dressy & high heels. Ramsey Lewis was there, and oh how we loved him! Watching him play at Jazz Alley In Seattle the other evening.... left me breathless! He has the same beautiful style of old, and is ever more polished. He is not to be missed!

Don't need to expound on what anyone knows who has heard Ramsey Lewis on keyboards....he's a musical genius; beauty to the ears. The problem with the event at the Gem Theater was that his electric keyboard was placed right in front of his grand piano and you couldn't see his hands on the keyboard! Watching his hands in sync with the music produced is what makes for a truly outstanding event. Then when he turned to his electric piano to play you couldn't see his hands either! Keyboards should always face the crowd!!!

  • Great Jazz!

I really loved hearing Mr. Lewis and his band. I was surprised at the scope of his talent. I was disappointed, however, because I brought 3 albums for him to sign and was unable to get that accomplished.

  • Ramsey Lewis is a classic!

by LuvHunter on 6/13/12Gem Theater - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Having forgotten Ramsey Lewis' early classical training, I was overwhelmed to see him weave wonderful tales of lyric and song through this soul-filled presentation. He took us back from some of his earliest jazz pieces, through the sounds of Earth, Wind & Fire to the very elements of the jazz classicist that he really is. A must see show if he is in your area!

I am a huge fan! Went to see him at Bellayre Music Festival Summer of 09 and loved that show too. There was not enough time for him to play all of my favorites (there are sooo many).

  • wonderful!

I have been enamored of Ramsey Lewis and his playing for years, but my husband (the jazz snob) was finally also convinced with this concert! He said that he really enjoyed it, particularly the musical interactions amongst the players (which he said is rare today)!

  • Ramsey Lewis & Band were excellent!!

by mudmanhammond on 1/15/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Every time I hear Ramsey Lewis play I hear new. Not only is his playing and technique still as strong as ever, his fellow musicians on the Tour are most accomplished and phenomenal in every way. For a New York club audience to take the moment to hear and feel Ramsey's dramatic, soft ballads is in itself, an event. He selflessly gives plenty of solo time to his guys. They, in turn provide him with the kind of support most pianists can only dream of.

  • ramsey lewis in waukegan

by xxjb on 10/17/11Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 4 out of 5

ramsey lewis in waukegan was a very good concert. i am always nervous when going to "jazz'" concerts because who knows what that means anymore. ramsey lewis is very entertaining, his band is top notch. i only had issues with some of his ballads which dragged on a bit. i was sad the concert was far from full. he had just played a month ago just down the road at ravinia, but if you get a chance see this concert

by Anonymous on 10/17/11Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 4 out of 5

The show was very much worth the amount of the tickets. I was able to get great seats on the orchrestra floor. Ramsey Lewis and his band were phenominal. They played a varied scope of jazz, some of Ramsey's best hits, a little spirtual that was very soothing to the ear. I am glad that I went a great exprience for any jazz lover.

  • Great show!!!

I remember first hearing Ramsey play the "In Crowd" over 30 years ago while with my parents driving down to visit my grandma in Southern IL. I have LOVED that song ever since and always wished I could play piano like Ramsey. I've wanted to see Ramsey play at Ravinia in the past, but his concert dates never worked out for me. I love seeing shows at the Genesee Theater so when his show was announced, I wasn't gonna pass up the opportunity. I lucked out....got 4th row seats!!! What a fabulous show!! Ramsey did a great job balancing the new songs with older hits....he switched between a grand piano and an electric keyboard during his performance......and he had the biggest smile on his face the entire time. It was also fun watching the amazing dynamics between Ramsey and his electric band ...lots of improv......great show!!!
