A wonderful way to spend a Holiday Afternoon Great family event.
We really enjoyed seeing the Raleigh Ringers in person - we have seen their PBS special on TV.
The Raleigh Ringer show was great and also entertaining. The only downside was because of the two round bright lights at the rear of the stage that were shining directly into the audience's faces. Stage manager needs to fix this problem.
After missing the Raleigh Ringers for a few years due to conflicts with the Sunday scheduling we attended the Monday evening concert. What a joy! Thanks for moving to Monday evening and sharing the Christmas spirit through a throughly entertaining concert. The variety, sound, direction, and skill of the ringers is energizing. Look forward to attending next year on a Monday evening.
Having enjoyed the PBS special on Raleigh Ringers, we decided to see them in person. As newbies to the theatrical performance my husband and I were delighted with the entire concert. Between numbers while the bells were assembled for the next number, the conductor spoke with the audience about the history of the Raleigh Ringers and interesting anecdotes. Apart from the consummate performances, there were moments of levity with some of the ringers cutting up. What fun! We will be returning for future performances.
What talent! How do they get all that sound out of bells? Beautiful sound. I love the BIG bells and the non-traditional "bells". The explanations in between numbers was enlightening. LOVED it!
This was not the first time we have seen the Raleigh Ringers and we always try to bring friends with us who have not seen them. No one is ever disappointed! What a joy to see such talented people who make such wonderful music.
Spectacular music and great entertainment. Loved the skits and guest star.
How do they do that? There are so many instruments, and the performers have to constantly change from one to another while also playing 2 to 3 in each hand at the same time! The music choices and performances were simultaneously inspired, active, and appropriately humorous.
Highlight of the season. Their music choices, variety, and exactitude in delivery were spectacular. They wove just the right touch of good nurtured humor into the affair. A couple of the more modern pieces were not to my taste but they were so expertly executed that I did not mind.
The BEST show I have seen in a long time!!! I want to make it a new holiday tradition to see The Raleigh Ringers each and every year!!!
Once again the Raleigh Ringers make the Christmas Season complete! Awesome job!!
Amazing Show! Audience participation was great, happy to say that the Raleigh Ringers don't take themselves too seriously. Very fun.
I truly enjoyed the Raleigh Ringers. They are amazing and truly got me into the Christmas spirit. The group is so professional but the concert is a lot of fun too!
Exceptional show as always. Meymandi hall is the best venue in Raleigh
This concert was fabulous. My 9 year old granddaughter accompanied me and she loved it, too. Another choir called Virtuoso with members from all across our country came to Raleigh for the weekend and also participated in the concert, so we really had 2 concerts in one. We sat on the front row and enjoyed every second of the concert. If I lived in Raleigh, I would never miss another of their concerts.
The ringers were great as ususal. The additional group was OK but went on too long, would have preferred to have the Raleigh Ringers play more, they didn't play everything listed.
I looked forward to this concert, as to have the Raleigh Ringers right back home in Raleigh should be quite exciting. For a show during the Christmas season, I assumed the music would be mostly Christmas songs: White Xmas, Rudolph, Drummer Boy, Frosty, and dare I say it, Jingle Bells. Well, they did have Xmas music, but they were obscure songs (to me, anyway,) that were mostly Classical in my opinion. Bach's Fugue in G Minor? Bizet's Farandole from 'L'Arlesienne Suite No. 2?' Where was 'Santa Clause is coming to town?' Don't get me wrong, the RR are an incredible ensemble, and the players and conductor were top notch. They played one of my favorites, 'Linus and Lucy,' and they just blew me away with 'Flight of the Bumblebee,' and they ended with some surprising tunes. One thing left me extremely disappointed. They promised songs from Transiberian Orchestra, and they did play a few, so naturally I assumed they'd play 'Christmas Eve in Sarajevo,' right? Nope, not that night. Bottom line - had I not gone in with the expectations I had, it would have been a great show. Actually it was great, but it just wasn't what I was looking for.
Except for the video camera that kept getting in the way the concert was AMAZING!!!!
the whole process from purchasing the tickets to attending the event was the BEST. Took a group of six and they all are raving about how GREAT the show was. it was a pleasant experience for everyone.
