    Rain was refreshing!

by 095leeenda on 4/5/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

If you love The Beatles and the 60's, you'll love RAIN! A step back to when Beatlemania all began. The musicians clinched each Beatle and their individuality. Loved the 60's pop art screens along with excerpts from different concerts such as Shea stadium. A chance to get happy and sing along with all those songs we know every single note and word. The change of outfits for the different albums were perfect.

    Forced fun

by PeteWorst on 4/4/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I have no complaints about the music in "Rain,"-- everything sounded great. But the execution of the show was not my bag. Some audience members enjoy it when performers exhort them to stand up and clap and dance but that is not me (plus, the whole element of the cast pretending to be the Beatles yet frequently breaking the 4th wall was odd to me.) The video work also truly irked me. The audience camera was cheesy--like being at a baseball game, and the literalness of the videos was quite uncreative. There were diamonds for "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," parking meters for "Lovely Rita" and then actors portraying Desmond and Molly working at the marketplace for "Ob-La-Di." I also happened notice that every single actor/stock image used in the video work was white, which made me cringe as we were sitting behind some people of color and I couldn't help but wonder what they thought of it. If I could, I would have left during intermission.

    Rain did the Beatles proud!

by WindyCity11 on 4/4/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

A tour through the early songs from the band then onto the 2nd act which starts the Sgt. Pepper album and finishes with a few popular Abbey Road songs. Paul (who also is named Paul for the actual Paul McCartney he is imitating!!) was by far the standout performer, engaging, talented and enthusiastic. He stole the show for me. The drummer, I hate to say, looked like he didn't want to be there (maybe that's how Ringo performed). John was talented, however, he looked a little too old for the part and also a bit weary. Maybe because Paul was so into it, the others appears to phone it in. It must be hard finding look-a like performers that can cover this band. George was pretty close to George and actually probably a better singer. The musicians were outstanding and the voices great. The production value of the show was a bit sparse and really could have been done much better, also the wigs need a little work. But it really all comes down to the music which was a very, very good imitation of the original. Ended with an encore of Hey Jude.

    Unbelievable performance

by Cravitz on 4/4/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

These guys were amazing. I could close my eyes and feel like i was listening to the actual Beatles Live. I could see this again and again. Transported back in time. What a lovely day and even my 23 year old daughter enjoyed it thoroughly.

Rain was an amazing way to spend a Saturday afternoon in Chicago! Just like in 1965, Paul is still my favorite but all of the group were spot on with their portrayal!

    Rain

Excellent. Played songs note for note. It was like seeing the Beatles live. Still can't believe these four guys got together. Where did they find four musicians that sound and play exactly like the originals. Unbelievable!

RAIN -fantastic trip down memory lane.

by dlphanes on 4/4/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

RAIN is a fantastic trip down memory lane. The costuming was authentic and the video montages were a great backdrop and in the style of period. I never saw the Beatles live and yet, I left this show with the experience of what that would have been like.

    Memories

by 345xyz on 4/4/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

From the first note of She Loves You to the very end, the audience was transported back in time when the music seemed less complicated (although it wasn't) and life was full of love. Each song was done with precision and nothing was compromised. It was an excellent show and a must for every Beatles fan.

    Rain was wet and soggy.

by Ajay16 on 4/3/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Pretty tragic. Why not just play the music and lip sync? The band couldn't even get themselves excited , let alone the audience. I felt duped. Graphics were traffic and ever so literal. Lucy in the sky with diamonds doesn't mean your friends unpaid sister filmed for free with diamonds screws savers. Vary tragic.

    Great trip down memory lane

by NamesakeCindy on 4/3/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

The 'lads' did an excellent job singing and engaging the crowd. They sounded authentic and the news clips and audio/video were very commemorative. Entertaining all around and well-done!
