    Could have, should have.

by Sonchick on 2/22/10Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Went with high expectations. The Fox is so hot now! And the line-up was great. Couldn't wait to hear Gregory Isaacs. But we couldn't hear him. The sound was terrible and we left after he performed. The very excellent Michael Rose was on before him as a substitute for Capellton (?) but we had trouble hearing him too. And it was very distracting to have the people in front of us, who didn't have reserved seats, fight to stay in the seats they had snatched. I wish the ushers would have had them leave. They had the nerve to complain about us because they were there first and wanted OUR seats. What is so hard to get about seats being reserved? I"m not sure if we will go next year. We have been Reggae fans for over 30 years and this was disappointing.

    ragga 2010

by reggaefan on 2/21/10Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

This was a long nite, mostly waiting for each set to start, even though they used a very good standard backup band for all headliners, with the exception of Michael Rose, who had an amazing drummer and congo/percussionist. Gregory Isaacs seemed like he was lipsyncing, and was kinda lax. Barrington Levy was cool, but he's almost like a showman, same deal, every show, m-u-r-d-e-r-e-r, back and forth with the crowd. Overall it was a long nite to wait for each band to set up even though the dj music was probably the best I've heard, acoustics were awesome at the Fox. The only performance sound issue I had was the vocals, not clear, fuzzy and loud. Although, since they spent so much time between sets, the basics were very clear and talented, bass, lead, keyboard etc., drums. I will not do this kind of concert indoors again, unless I just relax and sit back enjoy. Or just go and see my favorite headliners, not this jammed pack, overpriced, overrated festival concerts. Not worth it. Too long and not a great lineup. Left before Cocoa T, feet hurt.

Gregory Isaacs is still at his best!

by zakyzayleeyo on 2/21/10Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

It was worth paying money to go to this concert. Gregory Isaacs did not disappoint me at all. Even in his old age he still sounded the same and put it down!
