The show was amazing, the venue was excellent. Raekwon & Ghost did all the classic material outside of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Only song they didn't do was Apollo Kids, they perform songs from Iron Man and Supreme Clientele...Once again amazing.
Best Concert Ever!! Loved every minute of it. They played all of the songs that was my favorite for the 20th anniversary of the Only Built 4 Cuban Linx.
this show was the best hip hop show i've seen in a while! rae and ghost showed up and showed out like rap royalty and true professionals. what's more is that the raleigh ritz crowd showed madddddd love! if you get an opportunity to check out the gods on the purple tape tour...do yourself a favor and cop the tix! you won't regret it....in fact, you'll tell your kids about the time you got to see raekwon the chef and the ghostface killah represent for the 20th anniversary of the purple tape!
The event was off the chain!! Too much weed smoke, music was way to loud, couldn't really understand anything that was said over the music. No seats anywhere!
I was wary, with their heavily scheduled tour dates (VA on Thurs, Raleigh Friday, Charlotte Sat., etc) that these 40+ year old rappers would be half steppin' through their show. Thankfully, they are drinking from the fountain of Eternal Hip Hop and brought it Friday night. Evidently, there was an issue with a transformer/power surge but luckily this happened prior to my arrival and there were no issues/delays that I had to endure. The crowd was hyped, thanks to a short set by the DJ and The Ritz exploded when The Chef & Ghostdini hit the stage. You could feel the love of all things Wu in the air and the performers commented about that factor a couple times. They did large snippets of the entire purple tape (Only Built 4 Cuban Linx) as well as some Wu bangers (C.R.E.A.M., Protect Ya Neck, Triumph) and a few of their individual hits from their solo albums. Overall, I was extremely happy with the chance to sing along, line for line, sway and get totally lost in the music. Mostly everyone around me seemed to enjoy exacty the same. Just like that...it was 1995 all over again!
Being a huge fan of WU-TANG this was a dream come true! To see Raekwon and Ghostface on the same stage was incredible!!
Probably one of the best hip hop shows that I have ever been to. You really just have to go and experience it for yourself. The energy was amazing!!
Good show after the delay real live in there they are always on point Rae and Ghost did the whole purple tape and more
DJ Bee was superb holding down the stage until Rae and Ghost got on. The opening act was just wrong place wrong time; by the time he got on it had been a while and people were ready for Cuban Linx ! He was booed and people started chanting "Wu-Tang, Wu-Tang". Poor guy. Once Raekwon and Ghostface arrived, it was everything I imagined- the whole Cuban Linx album, a couple Wu Tang classics, and solo stuff from Ghost. Loved the in between where Rae would drop jewels or express gratitude. Crowd knew all the lyrics, and Rae & Ghost loved it. It was a great experience.
Listening To Reakwon and GhostFace preform the Built for Cuban Linx which is Commonly referred to as the "Purple Tape" was Nostalgic. The Norva was packed and the Energy was great. The crowd was reciting the lyrics bar for bar with the artist. It was a trip down memory lane.
Along time waiting......their performance was great. Wu-Tang....Wu-Tang
Great show, great performance, good energy!!! I just wished they worked out time frame better. Dillon Cooper opened at 8:30 for an hour. Then Mister C deejayed from another hour. That was just too long to hype the crowd up. Then the curtains closed to setup. Rae & Ghost finally hit the stage like at 11pm.
Being a fan of OB4CL since it was released, I jumped at the opportunity of purchasing the tickets. Pretty good show. I got my Wu-Tang fix for a while. Only wish more Clan members had shown up. GZA and Deck were there and each did a few verses. M.O.P and Fabulous also made guest appearances. Overall, it was a good show. I would def go again. :)
Good start, weak finish. Great surprise acts. WUTANG
ENERGY WAS LIVE. THEY DID A GOOD SHOW. SO MANY BANGERS FROM THE WU. THE DJ DID A GOOD JOB WITH ALL THE 90'S RAP HE PLAYED BEFORE THEY CAME OUT. RAE AND GHOST ENGAGED THE CROWD. I LOVE WU AND WOULD GO SEE THEM EVERY TIME THEY IN TOWN.
I was so excited about the 20th anniversary of the Purple Tape, that we drove from NY to Boston to see the show. The energy of the crowd was awesome. However, Rae & Ghost had no set list of songs to perform so it seemed unorganized at times. Toward the end, it seemed as though they were just trying to fill out the time allotted at the venue. There was also no merchandise that mentioned the fact that it was the 20th Anniversary! Last but not least the opening act performed 9 songs!!! Regardless, I would do it all over again, bc that album was part of my youth. The memories alone of watching them perform those songs took me back to a different time in Hip Hop
Ghostface and Raekwon put on a performance for the ages! They played most of OB4CL including skits and even did full versions of tons of Wu-Tang classics. Epic night of two legends performing classic tracks.
Great show. Raekwon and Ghostface Killah are as good as ever. If you want a good old school rap show, these are the guys for it.
If you were looking for classic Wu-Tang at its finest this was the show to be at. Arguably the most consistent members of the Wu-Tang Clan teaming up for the greatest album of Raekwon's career and the beginning of a great partnership and brotherhood that stands the test of time. Both of these artists are still putting out relevant music that fans will enjoy. The Fly International Luxurious Art is a solid album with many cameos by newer artist but Ghost doesn't disappoint. Ghostface Killah also has new music with two albums that come out within two weeks of each other with 36 Seasons and Sour Soul. Get both if you are a Wu head like me. Support the music we became adults to!!!
