About The Quad City Storm

Exciting hockey action has returned to the Quad Cities with the arrival of the Quad City Storm, playing out of Moline, Illinois, while also representing Bettendorf and Waterloo, Iowa, as well as Rock Island and East Moline, Illinois. The Storm are one of 10 teams in the Southern Professional Hockey League, replacing the Quad City Mallards of the ECHL in the region. The franchise's origins date back to 2009, when the SPHL's Louisiana IceGators began play in Lafayette, Louisiana. The team suspended operations in 2016 in anticipation of renovations to Lafayette's Cajundome, but eventually lay dormant until the team was purchased and moved to the Quad Cities for the 2018-19 season.

The Storm play out of the TaxSlayer Center, in Moline, Illinois, which seats 9,200 for hockey, and is also home to the Quad City Steamwheelers of the Indoor Football League. The TaxSlayer Center opened in 1993 as The MARK of the Quad Cities, and from 2005 to 2017 was known as the iWireless Center. The TaxSlayer Center has continuously been home to professional hockey since 1995, hosting two iterations of the Quad City Mallards (from 1995 to 2007 in the United Hockey League and from 2009 to 2018 in the East Coast Hockey League), and the Quad City Flames of the American Hockey League from 2007 to 2009.

The Quad City Storm are ready to take on the rest of the Southern Professional Hockey League, battling their regional rivals the Evansville Thunderbolts and Peoria Rivermen. The Storm's rivalry against the Rivermen, dubbed "Cold War On 74," is named after U.S. Interstate 74, which begins in Davenport, Iowa, and connects the Quad Cities to Peoria. In addition, the Storm face such teams as the Birmingham Bulls, Fayetteville Marksmen, Huntsville Havoc, Knoxville Ice Bears, Macon Mayhem, Pensacola Ice Flyers, and Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs. You can follow the Quad City Storm all season on Twitter @QuadCityStorm.

Hands down the best place and team to watch Hockey in the Midwest (IA -IL) side. A lot of talent, excellent seats, venue. The best of art is the players and the fans interacting those players LOVE to win for the Quad City’s Storm fan base & I will definitely be coming back!!!

Great experience. Been to a lot of games over the last 25 seasons and this was up there. Fun to watch when we can win games, something the Storm have struggled to do.

Always a blast to go to a hockey game. Too bad The Storms lost but at least they pulled through at the end.

  • Great fan experience

First time to Quad Cities area . Great rink, great minor league pro hockey, great little downtown, hotels , restaurants close to rink. Although i was cheering for away team thoroughly enjoyed a few games at Vibrant arena. The $1 beer night was a bonus!

  • Fun venue!

It was a really nice venue! Very clean and friendly staff. The local fans really get into their team! I wish there were more food choices though. Still very good!

  • First QC hockey game since the glory days of the Mallards

by Addy Daddy on 11/13/23Vibrant Arena at the Mark (formerly Taxslayer Center) - MolineRating: 4 out of 5

We decided on a much needed, and seldom opportunistic, date night. She and I work our tails off, and we finally got a night where the kids didn't have a practice, a game, a birthday party, etc. Tickets were cheap enough, so we said "why not?". We couldn't have had a much better time. The game was great, the fans around us were super cool, (one lady even gave us one of her miniature souvineer hockey sticks for our youngest boy at home). The "chuck a puck"landed him a foam puck as well. The entire experience was entertaining, to say the least. Of course concessions and the beer cooler will break the bank, but that's not on the team or venue. We can't wait to make it a family outing, as we.know the kids will have a blast. Thank you QC Storm and The Vibrant Arenafor such a memorable night. The only reason for a 4 star review, is the $25 I spent for AWESOME seats, was a fraction of the money I spent on parking and beer. And not.knowing in advance that everything from the time you turn into the parking lot to the time you exit it, is card ONLY. No cash transactions at all.

  • Could be better

by Ryan on 10/31/23Vibrant Arena at the Mark (formerly Taxslayer Center) - MolineRating: 3 out of 5

I go to a lot of Storm games and generally have a good time. However, the choices and quality of food at concessions is below average. In fact, I dont think anything has changed or been updated in a long time. Hockey games aren’t the cheapest to go to and I would expect a little more with concessions. I go Riverbadits games and spend less and get better choices and values.

  • I love watching the storm

by Jploh on 10/24/23Vibrant Arena at the Mark (formerly Taxslayer Center) - MolineRating: 3 out of 5

Someone needs to better manage the entrance to the vibrant center. You need one entrance for season ticket holders, and the rest of the entrances for everybody else making people walk through huge crowded lines because they’ve got one ticket when everybody else has something else is quite silly.

  • Love my team!!!!

by Storm Mom on 4/11/23Vibrant Arena at the Mark (formerly Taxslayer Center) - MolineRating: 5 out of 5

I absolutely love this team! We may not have made the playoffs but I am so excited for the next season!

We had a blast. We will be doing it again soon. The people there were friendly and nice.

  • It was the most exciting sporting event that I've seen this

by Uncle Cletus on 2/8/23Vibrant Arena at the Mark (formerly Taxslayer Center) - MolineRating: 5 out of 5

We had awesome seats right up against the glass and the boys from Peoria were getting smashed up against it!

  • Family fun

by Storm fan on 2/7/23Vibrant Arena at the Mark (formerly Taxslayer Center) - MolineRating: 4 out of 5

Had fun at the game, entire family had a great night. Only problem was online concession stand order was not filled, had to go ask for it.

  • GREAT Time!

This was so much fun! To start, parking is conveniently located next to the arena. We went right in and there were a lot of very good options for food and drink. There was a full bar with seating looking outside and an outdoor patio. The nachos were excellent and custom prepared right infront of us. The game experience was great! The fans are sooo into the action and have lots of fun chants and routines that they do and add to the experience. The view from our seats was wonderful and the action on the ice was fast and exciting. The whole experience was great and we can't wait to go back!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

  • Great hockey with the Quad City Storm!!

by Enuff on 3/31/22TaxSlayer Center - MolineRating: 5 out of 5

This action packed game was fun! Only problem was questionable lack of calls by officials. When a player is removed in a stretcher, somebody did something wrong. This was a great birthday gift for our son. We will come again!

  • My family loves the Storm (fka Mallards)

by Small Town on 3/29/22TaxSlayer Center - MolineRating: 5 out of 5

The venue size and the loyalty to the teams throughout the years, always makes for a great time.

We happened to be in Moline/Rock Island for business and saw there was a hockey game on Saturday night. We enjoyed ourselves, they kept the crowd pumped up. Don't get the nachos. Nachos are given to you in a bag with a cup of cold cheese.
