Had a wonderful day at Piqniq. The venue in Tinley Park is great. Nice lawn area and pavilion with free parking. Food and beverage lines were long but labor shortages aren’t helping I am sure.
They charged me $40 online for premium parking, and it was half the price when bought at the venue. I also bought a fast line ticket, and there was no fast line at all, plus all the gates opened at the same time, so there was neither a fast lane nor a reason to buy one if there were if they all opened at the same time. The Audio was awful, mics and instruments were loosing connection all the time, you could even see Clemens (from milky chance) and Dan (from Bastille) disappointment on their facebwhen their instruments or mics werent working. I would at least like a refund for the fast lane ticket.
We had a great time once we made it through security. We were allowed to bring in food and water bottles which was great. What was not great was the lack of details on the website that explained what you CAN'T bring. We attempted to bring a metal insulated water bottle and a Frisbee to toss while in the lawn section. Neither of these items were listed on the website yet the security didn't let us take either in. Next time I would appreciate a more thorough description on the website before the security starts picking extra items to deny us entry.
Music great (except tech difficulties)! Seemed to work around the issues pretty good. Unhappy that I bought new clear bags when they said absolutely no backpack and saw them everywhere! Alcohol prices were ridiculous! Otherwise fun time & experience. Also grateful for big screens on the lawn!!!
I've been going to shows for 22 years. The Tinley Park location has never really been enjoyable for me. The sound at this show seemed to be better than previous years. The new no strap on the womens bags rule was awful. Ruined my experience having to juggle items in my hands the entire day since they would not fit into a 4x6 wristlet!?!?! It makes no sense to bring in shirts, clear backpacks, but not a strap on your bag of personal items you don't want on display. Maybe I'm old but I don't love having my personal things on display for hundreds to look at. Dreading going back for Chris Brown due to the venue. The bands at this show were fantastic. Crowds are always snoozers these days. Wish everyone knew how to show they are enjoying themselves.
My daughter and i had a lot of fun. I wish they would have made the schedule public so i knew when my favorite bands were playing. I live 4.5 hours a way without stopping, and left early so i wouldnt miss them play and ended up sitting around for a couple of hours when we first got there. No real food available, only snacks and junk food. Very expensive. No carry ins. Staff was very nice tho. Arena and grass area too. We alternated between the two for shade/sun. Excessive rules for carry in items, had to jam my pockets because my small bag wasnt approved. No return entry, when we got cold we couldnt run back to the car for sweatshirts. Bands were great. A few minor irritants but all and all a great time.
All the performers put on great sets! It was also great to see the radio personalities mingling with all the concert-goers. Happy that there was no side stage this year, too. The night ended with a great song, almost a religious experience!
Heavy police presence outside the venue pre-show, but I guess we can notch that up to the age we live in. Show was great. Good bands in the lineup. The venue is cashless but they had a way to convert cash to a debit card. Everything in the venue was extremely over priced, but they do allow you to bring in water and snacks. Staff were really nice and helpful. I would attend again with my family.
I thought they did a great job keeping the bands on schedule. The sound quality for all was a little off. Hard to understand the singers while singing and even just talking without music playing.
Walk the Moon had a REALLY short set-said they wanted to play more but had to cut songs due to technical difficulties. Bastille said the same thing. Not like I got some of my money back because I only got some of the show!
