About

There is a moment where every artist decides that it is best to create music based on instinct rather than expectation. For PVRIS, a three-piece rock band from Boston, that moment came during their conception. The trio formed in the studio while making songs for a previous project and realized that they needed to collectively eschew any preconceived idea of what music should be. “It occurred to us that we should just make whatever we want and not worry about fitting into the local scene,” Lynn says. “Our vision was whatever we felt like doing. It was about making what we felt like making in the moment.”

That vision has manifested itself into PVRIS’s debut album White Noise, which follows an acoustic EP that came out in April of 2014. The album is its own entity, a collection of dynamic, surging rock songs that combine the musicians’ collective influences and inspirations. The band has continually fostered an interest in electronic music and hoped to organically bring those sounds into their pop-tinged rock numbers. “We knew we wanted to go in a more electronic direction on the album,” Lynn says. “We had that vision but we had no clue how it would actually sound. We let the music find itself.”

PVRIS, who has toured the U.S. several times in the past few years and played Warped Tour in the summer of 2014, have reimagined their live set-up to reflect the album. Ultimately, PVRIS wants to make music that is their own. Without expectation, the musicians have songs that give something important to their audience – whatever that may be.

“I hope people can take anything they desire away from this record,” Lynn says. “It can be anything. We made the music because we loved it and now it can belong to everyone else.”

    Amazing

    by D.Lo on 8/21/21The Underground - Charlotte

If you haven’t seen Pvris live you absolutely have to! They have such great energy. They play some of their old hits as well as their new songs. Completely loved the energy of the crowd. We had to show our vaccination cards before coming in and wore masks the entire time. I felt safe and looked like everyone else complied as well.

Great show - expected behavior from guests

    by NC_Concert_Attendee on 8/21/21The Underground - Charlotte

Both bands were excellent! Great energy and played very, very well. So glad to finally have the chance to hear live music. The venue did what they could to ensure everyone's safety by requiring vaccinations and masks. Unfortunately, there were two gentlemen right next to me that felt it was more important to be "right" than to follow the rules established by the private property owner holding the event For some reason they were fine wearing pants, but not a mask. Also observed some underage drinking. Staff needs to up their game if they don't want to get in trouble with ABC.

    9.6/10

by Beezus on 8/17/21XL Live - Harrisburg

It had an amazing time! I loved the show so much, I also made some friends in line. The only thing that stank was the opener. Literally the opener smelled so bad. The whole bad just wafted the whole couple rows

    Great show and venue

by Josh on 8/17/21XL Live - Harrisburg

I had a really good time. PVRIS put on an intimate performance as the venue was smaller and had a night club feel to it. Staff was friendly and kept us safe with security checks at the door. I would come to this venue again for a different band.

    PVRIS PLEASES!!!

by Dao on 8/13/21House of Blues Boston - Boston

PVRIS was solid in her appearance at the HOB! Despite a hoarse voice as she told us and some mix issues, I really enjoyed the majority of songs selected (not the opener) and the power of their tight driving sound once they hit their stride. She is very warm and genuine and they write kick a.. songs. Can’t wait see them after their next release!!!!

    Well Worth the Wait.

by Tober on 8/13/21House of Blues Boston - Boston

First concert since Covid & firsttime visit to this venue; House of Blues Boston. My event took place the same day as a Red Sox game so getting parking took time & was a little pricey. ($45 about a 10-15 minute walk from the venue.) I recommend giving yourself more time than I did to allow for parking. I did make it into line with 15 minutes to doors. Line seemed long but the whole process to get in went faster & smoother than one would assume. I was able to move through the merch line preshow within 20 minutes. Nice, intimate, show setting as I had general admission tickets. I was in the back of the line but I still ended up at the front, right, corner of stage. The opener was Royal & the Serpent, who I wasn't super familiar with, but they crushed it. They're music is deff something to keep up with. And the band, themself, hung out with us at the merch table long after the show was over. The headliner, PVRIS, was amazing. A couple of times Lynn apologized for any "hoarseness or squeakiness" but I don't know what she was talking about because she nailed the entire set. I can't recommend either band enough. THIS is live music as it should be. Such positive energy and the whole crowd fed off of it. Overall: Great venue. Amazing bands. And an experience I'll never forget. 10/10

by Murph on 8/13/21House of Blues Boston - Boston

Great concert and performance. Had a little bit of a sore throst but Lynn Gunn still belted out the tunes. A nice touch singing Happy Birthday to her Father who was in audience.

PVRIS had an amazing show at Port City Music Hall

by Marcyelly on 5/7/18Port City Music Hall - Portland

PVRIS performed well live. They were full of energy and really put everything they had into making it a fantastic show. The smaller venue made it feel more intimate, but the sound quality and overall energy were not affected. Lynn, Brian, and Alex were also very sweet during the meet and greet. These people are genuine artists who care about their fans. Can't wait to see what they create next.
