About

Born somewhere in the Arizona desert, Puscifer is an electro-rock band, multimedia experience, traveling circus, and alien abduction survivors. The group's catalog consists of four full-length studio albums: "V" is for Vagina [2007], Conditions of My Parole [2011], Money Shot [2015], and Existential Reckoning (2020) - in addition to a series of EPs and remixes. Beyond the core trio of Maynard James Keenan [vocals], Mat Mitchell [guitar, production], and Carina Round [vocals, songwriting], the group's ever-evolving ecosystem encompasses Greg Edwards (bass, guitar, keys), Gunnar Olsen (drums), as well as a cast of characters such as Billy D and his wife Hildy Berger, Major Douche, Special Agent Dick Merkin, and many more. Meanwhile, the moniker's origins can be traced to a 1995 episode of the HBO classic Mr. Show where Keenan first used the name "Puscifer." In addition to tallying tens of millions of streams and views, they've piqued the curiosity of the press. Entertainment Weekly christened them, "Exceptionally groovy," and Revolver fittingly described them as "indescribable." Renowned for an immersive live show, the group's performances blur the lines between concert and theater, traversing the dusty American Southwest with Billy D and Hildy or the sweaty squared circle with Luchadores. They've brought their unique live experience to life  everywhere from Coachella to Bonnaroo. On their 2020 debut for Alchemy Recordings/Puscifer Entertainment/BMG entitled Existential Reckoning, Puscifer track Billy D back to the desert and, just maybe, uncover the truth about aliens once and for all.

Previously, Puscifer has sold out venues to capacity, like Warner Theatre and Old National Centre.

    A visual feast

by analternativesoul on 11/19/11Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Maynard was in top form. Humorously rocked the house! Will definitely try to see the show again. Carina Round was a definite siren , just when you thought it couldn't get any better!

Hot band. Saw band 2 yrs Ago. Much better song flow.nice opening with Cirina Round. Both she and MJK were in good form with complimentary voices. I'm 60 and this was such a visual and music treat. I'm all in.

    Amazing production

The show was amazing! Very tight, talented group of artists. Carina Round actually distracts attention from Maynard, very impressive!

This concert was fantastic! Carina Round was a great opening act, and after seeing Maynard live over the last 10 years, it's obvious the man can't put on a bad show, no matter which band he's got with him.

Great show but a bit uneven

by amcclow on 11/18/11Cadillac Palace Theatre - Chicago

I'm a huge Maynard fan. I've seen him a bunch of times with Tool, APC, and now twice with Puscifer. This show was WAY better than the last time when they spent about 40 minutes on the crazy Hilde and Billy Dee stuff. So, that was a significant improvement. Maynard and Carina sounded really, really good together. Both in great voice for the evening and the rest of the band was tight. It was a very professional show. I thought the set list was too heavily weighted on the new stuff. I like the new album but it seemed like they played all of it and there are a few songs that I think are just fair (Monsoons sounds like a Peter Gabriel song). They didn't play their strongest song...Mama Sed. Bummer. I loved that they opened with Green Valley -- my favorite on the new album and a great way to start the show. But it just seemed like every time they'd start to really build momentum, they'd slow it down too much and lose it. The show ended with a thud as they played a song that I didn't know -- seemed like most people didn't know. No encore. Cool stage set. I've never seen a band come out with absolutely nothing on the stage to start. Maynard pulled a small mobile home out and then setup the rest as he went on to do a 5 minute or so spoken word thing. All in all, good show. Would have liked to see a different set list but it was WAY better than last time. It left me wanting to see a Tool show....soon....

Show was very good. The last one at the VIC was amazing. Major bummer was when the bar cut off at 9 (one hour after the show started). This put a huge damper on the evening. Go back to the VIc next time

    Puscifer...is...AWHGHGAHEWG

by Skyeus on 11/17/11Cadillac Palace - Chicago

There's no way to describe the level of awesomeness with Maynard, a God of music, pulling an airstream trailer while giving the audience the best lesson in humanity and balance I have ever heard. I wish he was my teacher. You feel like your floating in a desert or ocean or city while listening to his NO-WORD-TO-DESCRIBE-HIS-ANGELIC-VOICE voice. Best concert. . . . .best concert. . . . . .!!!!!

Puscifier was a compelte waste of time. TERRIBLE.

    by Elizabeth23 on 11/17/11Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The show was on a Tuesday night so I was looking forward to a relaxing night listening to some good music. As soon as we walked in we were frisked at the "request of the artist" and were told we must turn our phones off. Unfortunately it was during the week and because of work I had to be able to check my email. (Let's be honest there are plenty of people in this world that MUST be connected at all times...like a doctor for instance...so for this musician to think he had the right to tell someone to turn their phone off shows how far from reality he is). At one point during the show i was checking my email and it was clear that was all I was doing I was not trying to take any pictures and I got bombarded by security guards yelling at me and telling me the artist would walk off the stage if he saw me checking my phone. For the entire show I was distracted by these security guards running around and yelling at people because they were looking at their phones. I will never again support any project from this artist. I felt like I was in prison. I wish I could get my money back and time that I wasted. I understand an artist not wanting a fan taking pictures and videos but to go as far and demand that phones must be turned off is unbelievable and to go even further by threatening to walk off stage is just absolutely insane. If he is so concerned with people being bored and checking their phone then he needs to rethink his product and make it better. When I am at a show that i am enjoying the last thing i want to do it play on my phone. I regret spending money on this and I am embarrassed that I stayed for as long as I did. This was the worst event I have EVER been to.

Great stage performance by Puscifer. The sound at the Cadillac Palace was impeccable. Maynard and company truly put on a fantastic show. I have a new and deeper appreciation for Maynard's music.

    So worth it!

by SpookshowBabe on 11/17/11Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Other than loving the music, that concert was just awesome to see. They are doing something far beyond what most bands do for a live show and it was highly entertaining and inspiring! I feel as though something has been awakened inside... thank you Puscifer!!!

Best show you will ever see!

by Spacealf on 11/17/11Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The Puscifer show was utterly amazing! This is the second time I have seen them live and the shows are just so well done. Humorous and artistic mixed with some of the most amazing music you will ever hear. Next time they tour you should drop everything you are doing and go to that show. Conditions of My Parole is a solid album all the way through. I got into Carina Round last time Puscifer toured and have been a huge fan ever since. She has been a part of the band for the last two albums and is extremely talented.

One of the most unique shows I've seen. If you already love them, or happen to love Tool and A Perfect Circle you will enjoy this. A different side of Maynard for sure but still great.

    more than a regular show

by lessthanhuman on 11/16/11State Theatre - Minneapolis

It was more of an experience rather than a rock concert. The band was entertaining and fast setting up. Maynard came on stage and described through anthropological reasons the creation of music and basic creativity throughout time and relative space. He wheeled out a mini camper/trailer and began setting up the stage as he spoke and before long they were into their first song and the next etc. etc.

The more performances I see whether it is Puscifer, APC, or TOOL, I am constantly amazed. I believe MJK is in fact just like is wine; he too gets better with age.

    Puscifer rocked the cock

    by Illi07 on 11/16/11State Theatre - Minneapolis

Puscifer sounded great. Carina presented some nice bang your body moments. Billy Dean (MJK) & the gang threw in a lot of good comedy before they played. Bottom line: if you get a chance catch the show, especially if you're a fan. You will thank me.

    Puscifer Show Rocked!

    by NewFan1977 on 11/16/11State Theatre - Minneapolis

We weren't exactly sure what we were going to get with this show- as other performances seemed to be more "theatrical" as opposed to being more music-based. This show was a stunnning live audio-visual performance with just enough "theatre" to keep things interesting. The music was outstanding, the opening act (Carina Round, who also was featured in the main act) was engaging and very talented. Maynard and company were AMAZING as always- the delivery was sharp, well executed and brilliant. I enjoyed the fact that the show was primarily about the music- and it was so exciting to get to hear it and see it live. I would absolutely go see them again- I imagine every show is different in Maynard's own unique and irreverent way. We didn't stay in the seats we bought- they weren't awful, but they weren't the best view of the stage, either. There were 10 seats open on the other side of the aisle, in the middle floor section, so after the opening act and the first song of the main act, we went over and stood there. The audience stood for the entire show, but that was fine by us.
