PUP IN CONCERT:
Canadian indie outfit Pup blends pop and punk seamlessly to arrive at their unique sound, but calling them a pop punk band would be a total misnomer. Their catchy, compact tunes contain loads of melodic brilliance, but the raw aggressiveness of their sound is a far cry from the shiny production value favored by most pop punkers. Their recordings are frenetic, breakneck affairs, and in concert they push things even further, tearing through songs like "Guilt Trip" and "Reservoir" with a reckless abandon that always whips ticket buyers into a frenzy. Pup may be new to the scene, but fans of compact punk nuggets infused with catchy melodies and sing-along choruses are already lining up to catch them on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Pup was formed in Toronto in the early '10s by a group of childhood friends who all attended the same elementary school. They originally started playing together in 2011 under the name Topanga, but switched to Pup in 2013 just before the release of their self-titled debut album. The album generated significant buzz in punk circles, and in 2014 it was given a wider release on SideOneDummy Records. In their brief but bright career the band has racked up a considerable assortment of honors -- their debut album was nominated for a Polaris Music Prize, they won 2 Bucky Awards in 2013 for Best Live Show and Best New Artist, and Rolling Stone named them one of 2014's "breakout rock acts". They've rocked festival stages at Pop Montreal, Groezrock, and SXSW with their adrenaline-filled live show, and they continue to impress every time they take the stage on tour.
Amazing show! Two days later and still sweaty from the crowd and dancing.
It was nice, came on late due to the leafs game lol, but venue was dope so was the show
I was sad after the show because now I have to wait until the next one.
The openers were incredible, and when PUP came on it was magical. Everyone in the crowd was super nice and would help you out if you fall or need help. Will definitely will be going when they come back around in September.
Loved it. Pup was great. Sheermag was great. Pinkshift was great. I spent the next day listening to all three of them all over again
This was the first concert I’ve ever been to and it was great! I’ve been a big fan of PUP for years and seeing them live was amazing! The crowd was super respectful and tickets and merch were reasonably priced. I would definitely go again!!
Saw PUP in Dallas at the Granada Theatre and they were IMMACULATE! I absolutely loved it. It was definitely my best concert experience and I would love to see them again.
Band was fantastic. Staff was atrocious. Could not be more disappointed in Ace of Spades
pup was great. the crowd was great. some people were moshing a little too hard but otherwise I HIGHly recommend. they were great. thinking about seeing pup? go 4 it. u won't regret. 10/10
Such an awesome show, so much energy and a great setlist of jams, 1000% go
Pup rules but the roxian is full of amateurs. Not very much fun. They're either barfing In the toilet or getting dragged out.
Everything about the show was fantastic. Parking was easy, got into the venue relatively quickly, and the bands were all tight. Other than eliminating the heckler behind me all night, nothing could have made it better.
The band sounded amazing along with a friendly crowd that was willing to just rock out with others. Security was on top of it, helping anyone that needed it and the energy in the room was great! Very happy that I was able to go to this concert!
Incredible show, would definitely love to see them again
Truly an unforgettable experience. Potty Mouth was a great opener, and I wholeheartedly recommend coming early to see them. Illuminati Hotties kept it going, and they were just as good. And of course PUP had an amazing set.
Pup never disappoints! The Fillmore is an amazing venue, and the staff is beyond amazing.
One of the best concerts I’ve been to ever. This band is so damn energetic and sound great live. I can’t wait to see them again.
PUP was a freaking blast! They play with so much passion and involve the audience. The lighting was spot on, the audio mix was perfect and the venue was intimate. Perfect overall!
This band was a lot of fun to see live. Their new album rocks.
The line up was great. They all played well. I loved the ratboys. It was a good time. Price was good too. Definitely would see them all again
