About
Proof is an award-winning play by playwright, screenwriter and director David Auburn. Published in 2000, Proof tells a story of mathematical genius and mental illness as Catherine copes with the recent death of her father Robert, a brilliant mathematician and university professor. However, when one of Robert’s former Ph.D. students turns up with a groundbreaking mathematical proof allegedly authored by the late genius, Catherine must try to prove its authorship while confronting fears about her own mental stability. Proof won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama as well as the Tony Award for Best Play in 2001. The play’s first-ever Broadway revival starring Ayo Edebiri, Don Cheadle, Jin Ha and Samira Wiley is set to begin performances in March 2026.
