    Fire Power

by TimBarrymore on 10/2/18The Stone Pony - Asbury Park

This was a Sea Hear Now aftershow. It was great. Preservation Hall brings the heat. They are accomplished musicians playing AND performing white hot Dixie land jazz. They look like they are having so much fun that you just have to dance. They gave me goosebumps when the trumpet, sax and trombone took of and played off of each other. This was the third time I saw them and they just keep getting better.

Everyone should be *required* to see PHJB!

by CrossingtheRiver on 10/2/18The Stone Pony - Asbury Park

These guys never fail to put on a fantastic slap show/party ! They are pure joy, and it was amazing to have them here for the #SeaHearNow festival

A show I'll remember for the rest of my life!

by AsburyCatGuy on 10/2/18The Stone Pony - Asbury Park

Talk about an incredibly great night. The show was a who's who of the entire Sea Hear Now Festival, all anchored by the wildly exuberant talents of the Preservation Hall and Tangiers Blues. They rocked the Pony 'til they threw us out at 2 am, and I swear they could have gone 'til sunrise. Best show ever!

by Anonymous on 12/12/17Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San Antonio

OUTSTANDING!! We loved this Band - Happy Jazz! Great music, bluesy singing and major personalities. We would certainly go see them again. Bravo to the Trombone player!

    PHJB was awesome!

by SADave on 12/11/17Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San Antonio

We saw the PHJB in New Orleans last year and really loved the experience. So when I saw they were in town I jumped at the chance to see them again. Although you can't imitate the experience of seeing them in the original Preservation Hall and in the ambience of New Orleans the performance at the Empire Theater in San Antonio was incredible! I don't know this for sure but I suspect this is a touring PHJB while they have another group that plays in New Orleans. The band in San Antonio was 5 star. Such talented musicians and performers! I would not call myself a big fan of jazz but these guys were swinging and I was in awe of their performance. It was a "Creole Christmas" performance, being in December. A few of the songs were Christmas themed but most were their regular playlist. This was my first time in the Empire Theater. It is not as majestic as the next-door Majestic Theater but beautiful, classy, intimate and good acoustics from where we were in the mezzanine. I will not pass up another opportunity to see the PHJB either on the road or back in New Orleans,.

    Dixieland at its finest

by CCD2 on 12/11/17Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San Antonio

An unforgettable evening of pure enjoyment! Great performances and showmanship. The only thing missing was Naw Lins itself but you felt like you were there.

    NOLA Royalty

by GtrGrlNC on 11/27/17Carolina Theatre - Durham

EVERYONE has heard of Preservation Hall, and the Legacy Band was a fine representation of Dixieland Jazz. Not as many are familiar with Irma Thomas, a fixture on the NOLA jazz/blues scene for 50 years, and going strong. The Blind Boys are not technically from NOLA, but their gospel/blues fit right in. Each group had approximately equal time, although the band accompanied the others at times., and all 3 groups were on stage for the finale.

    Irma Thomas, Blind Boys Show

    by Rick325 on 11/16/17Carolina Theatre - Durham

Great show! a little short I thought. Irma only did like 3 songs. The band was great, however not the version of Preservation Hall Band I would have liked. There are several different versions. I have seen many many shows at The Carolina Theater and think its an excellent music venue, the problem I have with it is I believe that every act that plays there uses the house PA, I'm assuming there is someone maybe running a board back there but the vocals are always off and dampens the experience.

Preservation Hall / Blind Boys of Alabama

by MetroDetroitMusicLover on 11/1/17Music Hall Center - Detroit

The talent on this stage was endless!! GREAT evening of musical entertainment. We were impressed with ALL of the entertainers, however, we were especially excited to witness the Blind Boys of Alabama. Thank you all for coming to Detroit!!

Go, but sit in the back!

by TobyonHP on 7/28/17Old Whaling Church - Edgartown

I am a fan and have seen the PHJB twice previously, once in New Orleans and once at home. I booked early and had my choice of seats. I chose the third row, WHAT A MISTAKE! The amplification was overpowering. In the small venue of the Whaling Church in Edgartown, amplification of this band not only was not necessary, it detracted from my enjoyment of the really great music. By the intermission, I felt quite deaf and found an empty seat in the back row for the second half. By all means, go. Book early. And sit in the back row!

Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Amazing As Always

by mtram on 5/1/17Paramount Theatre - Asbury Park

One of the best collections of musicians on the planet. If you don't leave with a smile and a full heart then you just don't possess either.

Expecting New Orleans Music--Not What We Paid For

by MazzyMal on 4/20/17Neptune Theatre - Seattle

We moved to Seattle from New Orleans and miss it every single day. Getting the chance to see Preservation Hall perform was something we looked forward to for months. Our disappointment when we realized everything on the set list was a new, original composition and nothing like the sound they are named for was heartbreaking. Our last time seeing Preservation Hall was in New Orleans as guests of the bandleader for the night. This show was so disappointing and should be billed as original music not under the heritage name of Preservation Hall.

    Preservation Hall Jazz Band NOT!!

by tsenior on 4/20/17Neptune Theatre - Seattle

Just awful! One hour of mindless noise. No traditional jazz pieces! Music was (if you call it that) a mishmash of hip hop, twisted blues, jazz fusion and maybe some salsa. The leader of this motley crew is Ben Jaffe, son of the founder of Preservation Hall in New Orleans. Mr. Jaffe is trying to create his own version of traditional jazz and has failed, miserably!

I want to see this band over and over!

by ThornyRose on 7/20/16Port City Music Hall - Portland

I LOVE jazz and this show didn't disappoint. It was an intimate show and after the guys shook some hands and took some pictures. The music was FUN with lots of energy on stage. If I get a chance to see these guys again I will travel a ways to do so. GO to this show!

    Fandamntastic

    by WSW1 on 8/16/15Birchmere - Alexandria

This group comes to play; not talk or sell merchandise. The trombonist is the best I have ever seen. The pianist is fabulous. Just a great group of New Orleans musicians who have a wonderful time playing Dixieland Jazz together. Great night. Pot roast is very good.

The show was a delicious musical taste of New Orleans in Virginia. The show was fun and full of energy. I couldn't sit still!

Band is great to hear but only played an hour. We had seen them earlier on their tour and they played for at least 2 hours.
