It was a rip roaring fun experience. The boys looked great and still a thrill to watch.
The event was very entertaining and the players really know how to involve the crowd. It was great to see the "TRUE GREATS OF TENNIS" in Birmingham.
We had court side seating so we could hear everything that was being said by the players, and that made it great! I thought that the outcomes may already be decided, but I don't think they do that. It really was a lot of fun!
This was my second PowerShares event. As always, Andy Roddick was great both in his tennis and entertainment value. The entire evening was ruined by John McEnroe. His tennis was average but his attitude was an embarrassment. He refused to interact with the crowd and participate in the post game interviews like his playing partners. There were many young kids with McEnroe tee-shirts who were anxious to interact with him but he ignored them. Don't bother going if McEnroe is involved.
This was my husband's Christmas present. When I gave him the tickets on Christmas his attitude was 'Why did you get me this?' We live in Atlanta and had watched Powershares several times on television. I made reservations for a long weekend at the Charleston Harbor Resort. On the day of the event we drove to Daniel Island where they had signs pointing us to the parking area. We then boarded school buses which took us to the stadium. There was a descent crowd but entrance to the stadium went quickly. We arrived at our seats and my husband beamed and said these are great seats! We sat down and looked around and decided there was not a bad seat in the place. This venue is the perfect size. After the first set Andy Roddick hit some balls with a few of the kids. After the second set James Blake hit some balls with a few of the kids. This was a really cute part of the evening. I saw people with several types of food. One being my personal favorite Chick-fil-A. There were stations where they sold beer and wine and someone said they made a great Bloody Mary.
Loved every moment. My heros at an age where i dont expect them to perform, come alive...great show, so fluid. These guys still rock
We enjoyed the Men's Tennis play overall. But parking arrangements were terrible. A confusing 15-20 minute walk from parking lot, or a shuttle bus ride with too few shuttle buses, especially at 10 PM at night after the event. We did not eat at this event. Had a few drinks - overpriced. Also, we are huge John McEnroe fans - he was the main reason we attended. He played his one set match. But he left the court immediately after losing his match without speaking to the crowd. He could have said at least a few words, like Andy Roddick did after losing his one set match. We went to this event primarily to see Johnny Mac, and it was great to see him play. But we were bummed he couldn't take 2 minutes to speak to the crowd.
The event was very flat. Players appeared to not want to participate in the match & with the audience. The event was choppy with no continuity. No microphones to hear the players which was badly needed. Seats were available on the first level when we were told they weren't. People left early because the event was so boring. Players left the courts abruptly after the game, there was no apparent time crunch. We heard many people say the were disappointed & would not return given how boring the matches were. We will not return & we were looking forward to this. We bought 5 tickets. We were told to be there 3-4 hours early! Not needed!!!
They don't really try. No points last more than 4-5 shots. Save your money.
My family had never been to a tennis match before so we decided to give this a try. Keeping this short: we all had such a fun evening! Ate dinner nearby, walked to the stadium. Not a bad seat in the house. We had front row seats in the upper deck and this was a great value for $25/seat. The level of tennis was fast paced and entertaining. All the players also seemed to enjoy the competition. My only negative comment is that even though I'm a huge Mac fan, he was a bit disinterested in interacting with the fans as he usually does while on the court. That's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. Roddick enjoyed being the big hambone. We hope the tour stops in Charleston again next year.
PowerShares should be renamed PowerNAPS... This was the most boring event I've ever been to. We left 5 minutes after the second match started.. No energy, no excitement, boring in every meaning of the word!! Save your money for the US Open, or something with Tennis Players that are alive.
We were hoping for a quality event but QQQ tennis failed to deliver. There were no line judges and the players were making their OWN CALLS! What? No doubt they were trying to be accurate but a ton of serves were out and called in. It was very frustrating. There was a chair umpire who did keep score but mumbled and NEVER told us the game format. Was it one set, a pro-set, best of three? Etc etc. Yes, we missed game one of event but so did a ton of people because it was snowing. If anything was said it should have definitely been said again and the finals format FOR SURE! The semis (it turned out were one regular set. Okay, fine. But the finals were also one set. Blake wins the first set and we are looking forward to a McEnroe comeback but guess what? The thing is over! Who knew? It was a disappointing event in many regards and we will not purchase QQQ tennis tix again. I usually have good things to say and we do like the Barclays arena but this was an amateur presentation ... good players but badly run and lacked clarity ... and accuracy of calls ... read that as non-existent ... darn
The first of many (I hope) tennis events in the Orlando area. All four tennis players (McEnroe, Blake, Roddick, and Courier) are still in shape, and keep the audience entertained with the game and comments. I was very pleased to find the price for the close-up seats affordable. I will definitely recommend this event in the future.
Seeing the big stars playing was lots of fun! I am just an observer but I enjoyed it very much. Will come to the Tennis Club and watch lots of tennis.
I'm not a tennis fan and I've never been to a Tennis Match in my life. This was a present for my wife (tennis fan), and we had a lot of fun. Roddick was especially impressive and the joyful nature of the event made it more enjoyable for a 'newbie' like myself.
It was only 3 sets, but some good tennis, as well as some "show." It is a bit like the combo in the Harlem Globetrotters. I had a 3rd row bleacher seat, and could enjoy the views, the comments and the tennis. The cost was a little high for just 3 sets; thank heavens for the USTA member discount. All in all, it was a delightful evening.
We had a fun evening with good seats. However, we were disappointed that we could not hear the players comments as that was to be a highlight of the evening. Perhaps they could install mics on the sideline. Parking was good and well organized
I took my dad to this event as he is a big tennis fan (and I grew up watching McEnroe play). He loved it, and it was quite entertaining. You could tell that the players, though playing seriously, also had fun with it. I would have liked it if the guys wore mics so we could hear their joking to each other (and I was in row 11), but it was still great. Would definitely go again and would love to see other pros in the future.
This was a GREAT sports event. The quality of play was top notch and we hope that this event will continue to be at the Amway Center for years to come. Since the USTA center opened last week this should bring more quality tennis events to Orlando.
Fun night with real good and high level tennis. Only suggestions would be to microphone the players as they talked but we could not hear their banter which looked to be good. Also would have been nice to have a speed gun on the serve as us amateurs would be impressed with the speed.
