    Game was amazing

by Lparrack on 1/4/10Rose Garden - Portland

I really enjoy the Winterhawks. I would recommend the game to anyone who likes sports. We always go to the New Year game every year and we are never disappointed. We especially like that we are able to meet the players and get autographs. Our boy who is 9 now had a great time this year meeting the Rosebuds. He was really red.

Great way to spend a New Year's Eve!

by Livebandrocker on 1/3/10Rose Garden - Portland

Had a friend from Seattle down for the game. He was a good sport even though he was totally creamed by the Hawks.

    About what I expected

by TheHockey on 1/3/10Portland Memorial Coliseum - Portland

Attended my first hockey game and it was just as I expected it would be. Lots of movement and sometimes hard to keep up with but the biggest cheers came during the one fight. There was lots of cheering when Portland scored goals but it was louder during the very brief fight down in the corner. This proves my long held theory that most people go for the fighting and winning is secondary. People, even the women, were cheering when a Saskatoon player would be checked hard. It's not so much about the hockey as it is the rough stuff. I've never understood why hockey is the only major sport, outside of boxing, that actually allows fighting as part of the process. Seems rather stupid.

Best value sporting event in town - especially if you can make it to a weekend game.

    mucha was awsome

by gargoyleking on 1/1/10Rose Garden - Portland

The rivalry game was an awsome game due the 6-0 shut out. The only real dissappointment in the game was no fighting.

    Winterhawks Squawk, I mean Rock

    by Rodney1951 on 1/1/10Rose Garden - Portland

From the opening seconds of the game Portland's Winterhawks Showed Seattles Thunderbirds who was the big bird in town. They kept pecking away at them until they scored 6 unanswered goals. What a great way to bring in the new year.

The game was pretty decent - once it got started after being postponed 1:15 due to weather. No one can do anything about the weather, but the front office could have done a much better job of keeping fans informed of delay status. We used MAX, and got there there by 7 PM. Total crowd count at that point was about 40 with no sign of a hockey game. We asked around, but ushers/security knew nothing. Finally @ around 7:15, some one mumbled over the PA that the game would be delayed, but the details were unintelligable. Then about 7:45, the PA (again very fuzzy) announced that face-off would be @ 8:45. What's with the Hawks PA system/announcer?? Throughout the game, the PA was low and muffled, and from Sec 223, we could barely make out what was said. On the other hand, during Blazer games, the announcements seem to be loud and clear. Another point; the Rose Garden was designed as a multi-media miracle. Why not use some of the graphics facilities to keep people informed - not only of game delay status, but during the game with info such as scoring / penalty items.

Game scheduled to start at 7:00 - started at 8:45. Apparently weather related, but there was no formal announcement, or offer to provide rain check tickets to those who brought families and couldn't wait until well after 11:00 for the game to end. Winterhawks should have been more open and forthcoming in offering credits to ticcket holders.

    The Teddy Bear Toss rocks!

by TheGAC on 11/30/09Rose Garden - Portland

I love going to Winterhawks games, and my wife knows that if we're only able to catch one game a year, it HAS to be the Teddy Bear Toss! The thing I love about the Teddy Bear Toss is that it's for kids. All of the people that attend are there to watch a great game played by the Winterhawks, and they're all there to try and make sure that a child has a good holiday season. There is nothing better than going to the Teddy Bear Toss, well... with the exception of going to a championship game where the Hawks are the winners.
