Having had season tickets for the last 10 years to the Arizona Diamondbacks, I had forgotten the joys and silliness of AAA baseball. It's hard to root for the home team when your best players may soon be scooped up for the big leagues either in a promotion or a trade, but they try their best to get noticed. Sometimes, as was the case last night, they fail badly, and the errors mount, but it's good to see ballplayers who hustle, something that is no longer a given in the major leagues. PGE Ballpark is a cute home. The seats aren't very comfortable, and the leg room is minimal, even in the expensive seats, but the ambiance overcomes the cramming to a certain extent. It's unfortunate that we moved here just as a 107 year tradition is ending. We really debated leaving a MLB town like Phoenix to move to a city with AAA and no possibility of an ML franchise. Now, even that is going away.
Living in central Oregon it is a long drive to see a Beavers game, but whenever I do I always enjoy the experience. This was a particularly good event. Excellent weather, great game, and a very affordable family experience. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only disapointment I ever have there is the number of people not in attendance. The Beavers are working hard for the city and too few people come out and see such a quality event. Of course, short bathroom and food lines are a plus for me and my family so I can't complain too much.
Fun night at the ballpark. Lots of activities and give-aways for fun. Fireworks were great and the Beavers won the game, too!
It was a fun game. They had a great fireworks display after the game. All around fun.
The seats were great and the Beavers played a good game. Great way to spend 4th of July with the family and watch a good game of baseball.
The Game was good, some scoring, and the fireworks show afterwords was great
Fantastic fireworks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great game. Promotions were excellent.
Went for GS birthday. Although they lost Beavers play with heart. Good team spirit. Very friendly section hosts.
I'm very sorry to see the Beavers go. We took our 5-month-old son to his first game, and for as much as he loves being outside, seeing new things, etc., he's still quite young to appreciate the experience. Sadly, by the time he's old enough, the Beavers will be long gone, so this (and maybe one more) game was it for us. That said, I will not miss attending games at PGE Park. The rows of seats are so ridiculously close together that unless you stand 5' tall or less, you are going to be most uncomfortable!! Thank goodness one of the ushers told us about the "mommy suite" halfway through the game! Hubby's 6'2" and I'm 5'8" and we are bruised up from having the hard plastic backs of the seats in front of us digging into our shins. NOT a comfortable venue at all! Sure hope "Soccer City" folk are prepared to stand for the majority of their matches....
The weather for June was cool but dry. Not a bad evening to watch the Beavers Baseball team play the Tacoma Rainiers. Lots of hits in the game, most from Tacoma, even a couple just in or just out of the park homers (always fun). The Beavers ended up losing but as always its great to be outside watching a bunch of men just playing ball.
We had great fun at the game. The hot dogs were tastey and even though we lost the game was exciting. The PGE staff was very helpful with my Mother-in-law and let us sit in the handicapped area so she did not have to deal with stairs. They came by a couple of times to check on her. Wonderful customer service.
My husband and I hadn't been to a game in years. I thought it would be a good Father's Day present. And it was. The seats were great. We truly enjoyed ourselves. What I don't get is the sound system. We could hardly understand anything that was announced. I asked someone sitting near me if he could understand and he said he didn't either. It was just loud muffled talking.
Being able to watch a baseball game (well, even if it is AAA) in downtown Portland is a terrific family event. The stadium is a great, histrical, venue - the prices are reasonable - and it's an easy, hassle free thing to do. It's a shame to be losing this team at the end of this season, since the Portland Beavers have been in town since 1903. We need to get another baseball team in that stadium to keep this great experience available to all Portlanders. You don't know what you're missing if you haven't gone there! Go !! It's a old fashioned fun time !
This was our first Beavers game since moving to Portland 6 1/2 years ago! Now that we've been, we're sorry we didn't go sooner! It was like a ballgame from the 1940's; very old fashion, very patriotic, kid friendly-just good fun. We went on Father's Day and my husband just had a TERRIFIC time and we plan to go back much more often!!!
Good times and good family entertainment. Mascot was great.
We had a great time at the game. Friday is $1 deals for hot dogs, water and ice cream bars. The beer and mike's hard lemonade were a little pricey but overall we had a great time. It amazed me though how empty the stadium was. The tickets are good price to go ... I think more people need to start attending the games.
The game was postponed due to the weather. The ticket does not allow for a refund because we are given the right to attend the rescheduled game. Unfortunately we had to travel 200 miles to attend and there is no way to get back to Portland to attend the rescheduled game. So I am out the price of 4 tickets. I would hope there could be an exception made but no one at the game seemed to know how or who to talk to about that.
We had so much fun! It was easy to get the tickets! We found parking was easy to find. My son had lots of fun watching all the players play! It was a great family event!
Go Beavers!! awsome game. PGE park is home to the Beavers, they should stay in Portland
